Just so you know, I live in Australia

Best: EB Games Australia: Great place to browse games, great sales, great game/console deals but becasue of the ridiculous prices, I never buy games there.
JB HiFi: Great prices and good pre-order deals.
http://www.game.com.au/ : Cheap prices for online purchases, quick delivery (especially if you live in Sydney) and very reliable.
Gametraders: The only place to get decent trade-in deals, decent game/console deals, good for browsing and they do retro gaming if you're into it (I am not).

Bad: David Jones: Average prices and an average amount of games.
Kmart: Bad selections and few games
Target: Very bad selections and very few games.

The best and worst place is actually the same. It's Steam. Some people love it. I'm one of them. Others absolutely despise it, and will go into a massive fit of rage when a game requires it. Not entirely sure why it's so polarizing, but that's just kind of the way it works, I guess. Either way, I'm all for digital distribution.

Internet and internet.

The best buys with good shipping costs that are reliable.

And then there is the occasional asshole who doesn't ship until after a month and who charges double for what you can buy it for in the store.

Target is the best place to buy games in my tiny town. We've got a Game Stop and a Game Crazy as our other two choices, so... yeah.

Our Target, at least, has pretty good prices. I can get PS2 games for around $25. Game Crazy is okay if you don't mind games being used, and by "used" I mean "not quite reduced to a pile of disk-dust". It's adjacent to the video rental place and is essentially where the rental copies go to die retire. GC's an okay place for cables and controllers, though.

if you wanna know bad try the gamesmaster in peckham south london this guy will shamelessly sell you fucked versons of videogames to you that dont work and when you confront him about it he trys to say its your console and than refuses to accept the game back. as well as the fact when he repairs games it often leaves them worse for wear. this guy is so hated his shopname has been spraypainted of the shoplist outside the supemarket.
