Toss up between Rage Against the Machine about three years ago in New Orleans for Voodoo Fest and The Roots in D.C. about six years ago. They were both awesome for completely different reasons. Rage I was really excited for because they had just reformed. The Roots, well, I had no fucking idea who they were and I went to this thing to see Jane's Addiction (who sucked balls live) and they stole the show.

Edit: Oh, and maybe NIN, but only because the light show was insane. That was Voodoo Fest again, two years ago, I think?

So far i only have seen 3 bands live (trought in the next 2 weeks i will see some more) And i would have a hard time too chose they where all 3 amazings... probably will go with Disturbed simply because i was a lot closer of the stage than where i was for Metllica and Iron Maiden

(I will see again Iron Maiden friday, then Rodger Hudson and Rammstein)

I went so see Rage a few weeks ago. they had 100,000 people chanting "fuck Simon Cowell". It was epic.

I'm jealous of those who mentioned Crosby, Stills and Nash (they still do shows together?), Depeche Mode (above), Radiohead (the OK Computer tour no less) and Mars Volta (recently dug into them myself again, this morning in fact).

The best band I've seen live was the crew Roger Waters assembled for the Dark Side of the Moon tour (2006/2007).

Most horrible show I've ever seen goes to the Offspring btw. They were just phoning it in, looking very bored, extremely unprofessional.

I can't tell you the name, but three sisters who played as a band together. Each looked beautiful, knew how to play and sing. I hear they open for some professional bands now.

But really, that was the only band I've seen live.

The first concert I ever went to was Morbid Angel, Slayer, and Pantera, and that one was amazing. But I think I really enjoyed Blind Guardian or Iced Earth more live.

Gota go with the general thread concensus on this one and say AC/DC at Download recently. They arrived by crashing a train into the stage. It only got more awesome from there.

The Flaming Lips. They're really great on albums, but the life show is an experience I'd not trade for anything.

enter shikari, one of those few great bands that sound better live. also because of there brilliant stage presence and audience participation

Cannibal Corpse, although they were the only live band I ever went to see. No band ever bothers coming here because we are so small and insignificant. That might change soon though...

That would have to be Bróðir Svartúlfs.A Rap-Metal band from Iceland.I saw them at Aldrei fór ég Suður.Which is a music festival held each year in the next town over.I actually hadn't heard of them until I heard them preform. But they were amazing.

I dunno about best, but my favourite bands to see Live are In Flames and Firewind, seen em both 4 times, and was amazing each time.

Its so hard to rate every band live because each band is so different and the experience means something different every time usually. Some phenominal bands I have seen live though are Iron Maiden, Metallica, Gojira, Opeth, and probably the best live band ever Rage Against The Fucking Machine.

Yeah no I take everything back, I just remembered how good Rage were Live. Some totally next level shit, right there. I saw them 3 weeks ago at Download Festival and holy crap they blew every other band away.
