Being American almost no one I know here has heard of either of my favorites bands: Die Toten Hosen and Supergrass. I really don't like American punk and I think the Hosen are one of the best punk bands around. They're no Clash but they're still one of the best. Supergrass is just all around great yet they seem to only have any notoriety in Britain, sucks when so much music made her is just so bland and samey now.

The Ruins of Beverast, seriously some of the best black metal ever.

And Solstafir, brilliant stuff. Some kind of blackened rock.

Ayreon. Seriously this is gold. I listen to NOTHING ELSE. (99% of all music I listen to is Ayreon or Ambeon. Ambeon is another project by the same composer).
Arjen Anthony Lucassen, particularly in relation to Ayreon, is really well known among European progressive metal fans. He's a genius. Still, listening to nothing else is a bit extreme. The Human Equation is definitely one of the best albums of the past decade but you should really check out some the other stuff by Arjen's guest musicians. The apparently numerous Devin Townsend fans on this site would agree.

InMe!!

Seriously they are my all time favourite british band, I'd link some songs and stuff but I'm a total nub at that stuff.

But I can recommend some of my favourite songs by them, Master Storm, In loving Memory, Cracking The Whip, Myths and Photographs, Papillons Stalemate and I best stop there in case I get carried away.

How about Free Spirit? Ever since I heard one of their songs in the rock band network I thought they were one of the best indie bands ever. Heres a sample: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4giaxUSGOHA

I guess it counts as I hadn't heard about them until recently.

Atmosphere are a pretty neat, mellow rap/ hip-hop group.

Well, I don't know anyone who has heard of They Might Be Giants, but that might just be me.
Really?? I heard a bunch of their kiddie songs watching T.V. in the morning, and they did the opening for Malcolm in the Middle.

Huh. I know about an obscure live-action video game from the 90's with the same name.

Interesting coincidence is interesting

By the way, how do I spoiler something without it saying spoiler?
