When I saw that few years ago I didn't start the game just watched it once more.

Fun fact:
Play this without sound and run

For me, the best cinematic in gaming is from a source-engine mod. Yes; sorry.

The ending to "Dear Esther":
-On a narrative level, it simultaneously ties together all the storylines and rips them apart.
-Visually it's decent, but is both personal *and* cinematic. A rare combination in gaming.
-Audio-wise, it's spectacular, and features (IMO) the best use of music in a videogame - the final piano key becoming the sound of a heart-rate monitor flatlining remains spine-tingling, revealing the ending to the story as the event that started it all.

Don't youtube it. Download the mod; spend 20 minutes playing it through to completion; thank me later.

A Man Chooses, a slave obeys. Choose!

That's all I have to say.
This. Even though his last word was 'Obey!' The fact it's one of the only moments in the entire game control of the character is removed from you- and WHY -makes it powerfully potent.

almost every scene in no more heroes 1+2 is noteworthy but the one after you beat alice and travis points out the glory and horror of the whole thing is a grand turning point.

It's not exactly a cut-scene, but it's one of the most iconic teasers I have ever seen. The Starcraft 2 teaser.

Which I will embed as soon as I figure out what code this forum uses. >.>

Mine would be the assault of Bevelle scene in Final Fantasy 10. A reward for kill that wyerm only to die to a thrust kick...and watch the scene again...

May not be a great game, but damn it has some bad-ass cut scenes.

It's just the first 3 mins or so, all the others won't allow Embedding -_-'

The Final Fantasy X ending

This actually made me cry
The Final Fantasy X opening.

'cause it was awesome. And the music was probably one of my favourite pieces of music from any game.

Ok, despite Raynor's mildly annoying accent I do find this hard to argue with.

Forget the speech and visuals - seeing "M. Koiter" as the name on the dog-tag brought me to tears. (Michel Koiter was a 19 year-old Dutch artist/graphic designer who worked on the original World of Warcraft. He died aged 19 of an unexpected and unexplained heart attack, and, out of respect, Blizzard added a shrine to him in the WoW gameworld and recently the dogtag in SC2. See http://www.sonsofthestorm.com/memorial_twincruiser.html#tribute for a more fitting explaination)

I find it very... endearing, that despite how vast and corporate Blizzard may have become, they still haven't forgotten who they were: and the people involved in making their games, however small, have not been forgotten.
