So! It's New Year's Eve, and it's time to decide the best stuff of the year. And just to be clear, this is about the best stuff you experienced this year, not the best stuff that came out this year. So if you only got around to watching Jurassic Park this year, feel free to name it the best movie. And if you've been a Markiplier fan for years but saw stuff by him this year that you hadn't seen before, then sure, name him the best Let's Player. Same thing goes for if you've loved South Park for years but enjoyed the new season. And the best dish just has to be something you tried this year and never tried before.
Here are the categories:

BEST VIDEO GAME:
BEST MOVIE:
BEST BOOK:
BEST DISH:
BEST CANDY, PASTRY OR OTHER DESSERT:
BEST SHORT STORY:
BEST LET'S PLAYER:
BEST SONG:
BEST YOUTUBE CLIP:
BEST MANGA SERIES:
BEST WESTERN PRINT COMIC BOOK:
BEST SCRIPTED LIVE-ACTION SERIES:
BEST WEBCOMIC:
BEST WESTERN ANIMATED SHOW:
BEST ANIME:
BEST ALBUM:

I'll post mine in a follow-up post.

Oh, and don't diss other people's choices. This isn't about explaining to people why PewDiePie sucks, it's about telling people that something you like is great.

This year was a pretty uneven one depending on the category, but it was a decent one over all.

BEST VIDEO GAME: Cities Skyline. Of all the new releases it was by far the best one that I sank the most hours into this year.
BEST MOVIE: Sicario. Such pessimistic dramas are the hight of the medium in terms of what I love to watch.
BEST BOOK: Heretic. It's a fascinating look at the problems of Islam and how can possibly go through its desperately needed reformation all from a scholar who was born and raised through some of the worst extremism the religion has to offer.
BEST DISH: Uh, I'm not really a foody so I didn't really keep track.
BEST CANDY, PASTRY OR OTHER DESSERT: Refer to above.
BEST SHORT STORY: I'd name it but both the name escapes me at the moment and there's no one else here to read it since it was by a classmate in my International Literature class.
BEST LET'S PLAYER: I'm not big into let's players so I can't really answer that.
BEST SONG: Not big on music.
BEST YOUTUBE CLIP: I don't know how to explain it in words [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4N5IuLJS7Y]
BEST MANGA SERIES: Assassination Classroom. I know it's not from this year but I started reading it this year so that's when I'm counting it for.
BEST WESTERN PRINT COMIC BOOK: DareDevil Born Again. Like with the Manga it's not from this year but it's this year I read it.
BEST SCRIPTED LIVE-ACTION SERIES: The Expanse. It's only 4 episodes into its 10 episode run (all of this Space marathoned two days ago, which was great) and though there are quite a few changes from the book including the tone I really enjoyed it.
BEST WEBCOMIC: Powernap. I couldn't explain it if I tried but there's just something about it's unique setting and concept that clicks with me.
BEST WESTERN ANIMATED SHOW: South Park. Say what you will about the quality but it's really the only one I watch that isn't reruns so it wins by default.
BEST ANIME: Assassination Classroom.
BEST ALBUM: I couldn't answer this if I tried, I don't buy albums or use Itunes, my music consumption is limited to the radio while I'm doing my commute or YouTube videos.

BEST VIDEO GAME: Eh Probably go with Fallout 4

BEST MOVIE: Inside Out

BEST BOOK: God Hates Us All, it was a novel set in the Californication universe. Read it this year when I was watching the series. Really a great read.

BEST DISH: I've really come to love buffalo wings this year.

BEST CANDY, PASTRY OR OTHER DESSERT: I'm not a dessert guy.

BEST SHORT STORY: Max Landis' Script for Frankenstein

BEST LET'S PLAYER: This section is an Oxymoron. Although I did end up following a guy named Trihex who seemed pretty chill.

BEST SONG: Do You Feel It - Chaos Chaos

BEST YOUTUBE CLIP:
BEST MANGA SERIES: Well I started but didn't finish Attack On Titan

BEST WESTERN PRINT COMIC BOOK: Only thing I read was a little bit of the new Batman.

BEST SCRIPTED LIVE-ACTION SERIES: M*A*S*H, hands down.

Just gonna do the ones applicable to me personally, so a few categories are knocked out.

BEST VIDEO GAME: Bloodborne, far and away.
BEST BOOK: ...I actually don't read many books anymore. I did read the entirety of Berserk a few months ago, so that was pretty okay. And just caught up on the few chapters that actually came out in the past year or so, also pretty nice. Except for the whole getting off the boat thing and then not having any other chapters published until summer of the upcoming year.
BEST SHORT STORY: Recently read some Junji Ito stuff. Suprised I didn't get into it sooner. Enjoyed Ice Cream Bus in particular.
BEST LET'S PLAYER: Northernlion. Chill fella.
Hard to pick any individual song as a best song for me. So I'll just put "Luna" by Deafheaven here.
BEST MANGA SERIES: ...Berserk counts here too.
BEST WEBCOMIC: I read like 10 Critical Miss comics in 2015, which is more than I can say I have for any other webcomic. So yeah.
BEST ANIME: ufotable's fate/stay night UBW adaptation. That's only out of a handful of series I watched this year, though.
BEST ALBUM: Sol Invictus by Faith No More, though I think a lot of people didn't really enjoy that album nearly as much as I did.

BEST DISH: The noodles with peanuts on from the Thai place at the street where I live.
BEST CANDY, PASTRY OR OTHER DESSERT: Passion fruit ice cream mochi.
BEST SHORT STORY: "Cal" by Isaac Asimov.
BEST LET'S PLAYER: Markiplier. (Also the only Let's Player I watched.)
BEST SONG: "NOW That's What I Call Polka!" by Weird Al.
BEST YOUTUBE CLIP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5bw1OlVdZ2U&index=52&list=LLXgnyquulBxArcTDPqvgzoA

BEST WESTERN PRINT COMIC BOOK: The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl
BEST SCRIPTED LIVE-ACTION SERIES: Unbreakable Kimmie Schmidt

Best game: Skyrim. Had it in the box for years, only just got a laptop good enough to run it. I would say Cities: Skylines, but 35,000 people just died in my city for no reason.

Best movie: Mad Max: Fury Road. GLORY AND CHROME!!!

Best book: The Man Who Mistook His Wife For a Hat by Oliver Sacks. Finished about two days before he died, it's a really wonderful book. As much as all of the cases in it have bizarre mental conditions, he never talks about them as anything less than people.

Best dish: I had a 45oz steak this year.

Best candy, pastry or other desert: I had a custard tart for the first time since I was what, five? Awesome.

Best short story: Uhhh... I read a collection of H.P Lovecraft stories. Some of them were terrible, some of them were incredibly racist, but Nyarlathotep is fucking awesome.

Best song:
This might just be my favourite song ever. It's better than everything. It's better than Zeppelin. Deal with it.

Best scripted live action series: Uhm... I haven't seen a lot of TV, especially fiction. I guess The Hunt had a script (albeit read by David Attenborough) and it was live-action...

Best webcomic: Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal. Debatable as to whether or not it's as good as XKCD, but I probably read more of it this year (XKCD doesn't post to Facebook so I tend to forget to read it).

Best Western Animated show: The new season of South Park was awesome. It did have a few pacing issues and the climax was a bit shit, but this is the first time they've serialised the show, so maybe it's to be expected. All told I think it was a good decision and kept the show fresh, I hope the next series sorts out some of the issues this one had.

Best album: uhhhh... Man, this year was totally fucking awesome. Baroness, Torche, Kylesa, Wild Throne, Chelsea Wolfe, Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats, Sikth, Deafheaven, KEN Mode, Indian Handcrafts, Retox, Lightning Bolt, God Damn, Turbowolf, iwrestledabearonce... Too much stuff.
If I had to pick, probably the Rolo Tomassi album. I love everything they've done, but the new one is less showoffy crazy technicality, and a bit more song-focused.
God, I fucking love that band.

Okee dokee, lets do this!

BEST VIDEO GAME: Witcher 3. A game I didn't even buy - I got it in a video card bonus, beside a game I actually wanted and didn't play for more then two hours, Arkham Knight.

BEST MOVIE: I pretty much only watched action blockbusters this year, so this is tough. Nothing was really mind blowing, but there were a lot of movies that did deliver the entertainment I expected. I'm going to go with the lame answer: Star Wars: The Force Awakens, simply to acknowledge that, while not the best movie of all time, it delivered exactly what I expected, better then I expected, and was highly satisfying. Mad Max: Fury Road was close behind Star Wars - An excellent film overall.

BEST BOOK: Defaulting to Unstoppable by Bill Nye, but only because its one of four new books I read this year, one being a web comic hard cover collection, one a cooking book, and the other being 'trash' science fiction (W40K is anyone's curious). So take that with a grain of salt.

BEST DISH: I made Spinach and Mushroom Salad for the first time, using the recipe from Good Eats, and it blew my socks off. Best dish I've made this year. Runner Up was some absolutely fantastic crab cakes I got in Las Vegas.

BEST CANDY, PASTRY OR OTHER DESSERT: Again, using Good Eats, I made Apple Pie from absolute scratch. Used Apple Jack (Booze) for the crust, fresh off the tree golden delicious apples, and no spices. Best apple pie I have ever had.

BEST SHORT STORY: Pass, I'm afraid.

BEST LET'S PLAYER: Dundertale, by Dunkey. Not strictly a Lets Play, I guess, but there it is.

BEST SONG: Not really a music guy, but I like Shinedown, so... Cut the Cord

BEST YOUTUBE CLIP: I don't know. Twerking videos are amusing.

BEST MANGA SERIES: Nope.

BEST WESTERN PRINT COMIC BOOK: I've only read one this year, so... Darth Vader. Luckily, it's actually really good.

BEST SCRIPTED LIVE-ACTION SERIES: I'm torn between two shows, so I'll just go with my favorite actor - James Spader in Black List. The show has a lot of flaws, but Spader is a true joy and delivers in every episode. Honorable Mention to The Flash, a high energy, very entertaining super hero show that doesn't fail to amuse, and is a welcome reprieve from the typical, serious DC material that's currently being pushed.

BEST WEBCOMIC: Sarah's Scribbles speaks to me on some level I didn't know I possessed. Honorable Mention to Hark, a Vagrant.

BEST WESTERN ANIMATED SHOW: It's a tough call, and as much s I'd like to say Rick and Morty, I'm going to have to go for Star Wars: Rebels. I'm really liking Disney's 'New EU.'

BEST ANIME: Only watched one this year, but it was a good one. One Punch Man.

BEST ALBUM: Threat to Survival

BEST SCRIPTED LIVE-ACTION SERIES: The Flash

This year I really focused more on music and movies than any other hobbies. So, I'll add a few more categories I would like to give a shout out to.

BEST VIDEO GAME: Deadpool. The game was id-tickling awesome!
BEST MOVIE: Inside Out. Dammit Pixar! You finally got me!
BEST BOOK: Modern Romance by Aziz Ansari. Really insightful way how we connect with each other.
BEST SONG: I'm going with a tie. Both songs were awesome and I still can't listen to enough. Yet both are really different to each other. The Eye by Brandi Carlile [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wl_eNu4NUVI] and Piss Off by FFS [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g3WrlwNA1zw]
BEST YOUTUBE CLIP: My favorite movie last year was Whiplash. So, I got completely geeked when I saw this video of Weird Al Yankovic meeting Terence Fletcher. BEST WESTERN PRINT COMIC BOOK: I stopped collecting comics this year. Next time I do go to the comic store is to get caught up on Saga.
BEST SCRIPTED LIVE-ACTION SERIES: I have been cutting back on TV shows as well. (Farewell. The Walking Dead. I'm done with your aimless wanderings.) The only one I can think of as a must-see show is Agents of SHIELD.
BEST WESTERN ANIMATED SHOW: Nothing that I can't take or leave. I have to admit that Star Wars Rebels has gotten better.
BEST ALBUM: FFS. Collaboration between Franz Ferdinand and Sparks. It's a great collection of smart, tuneful, and sarcastic songs.
Best Musical Discovery: Sparks. They are like Queen. If Queen just don't give a fuck.
Best Procrastination: The Sonics. This band took 46 years between albums. The best part is This Is The Sonics is one of the best rock albums of the year.
Best Father: Kyle MacLachlan. Played Daisy's father on Agent of SHIELD and played Riley's father on Inside Out.
Best Musical Hybrid: Punk and Rap. I have been getting into a duo named Sleaford Mods. I have never heard anything like this before.
