The best fictional (super) villain in movies, games, books, comics, anime... in anything, who is it?

I was never into comics, you I don't have a vast amount of villains to draw from. Regardless, a few that come to mind:

The Joker from The Dark Knight (the movie)
Professor James Moriarty from Sherlock (the new BBC series)
Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII (the game)

I would say me but I'm not fictional, so I'm going to go for Darth Vader. He just looks and acts... cool.

Doctor Doom is probably my favorite super villain. He's such a badass that the heroes regularly call on him for aid despite the fact that they hate his guts.

Here's one for you: the Time Trapper. He is the living embodiment of the end of the universe.

So, in the end... he will win. All he has to do is wait.

Grandfather Nurgle. What? He could be a supervillain, but he still loves his followers.

No way, Slannesh is much more evil, tempting everyone with anything they desire is much more evil than just infecting them with a vile disease or plague.

Damn. You stole 'The Joker' and 'Professor James Moriarty' from right under my nose. :p

But the one who really stands out above the rest is the 'Trinity Killer' from Dexter.

No super villain before or after him has succeeded in sending shivers down my spine and making me feel so uneasy.

Also he was some killer dance moves!

OT: My serious answer would be Iago from Shakespeare's Othello, hes so wonderfully cunning and diabolical, with no solid motivation for his actions other than he is straight up evil, the other characters are just pawns in his game, played masterfully.

My not so serious answer would be Skeletor, because nothing says badass villain like "quiet or I'll turn you into a suitcase!" Also, despite being pure evil he still cares enough to teach Beastman the importance of wearing a seatbelt.

100% agree with the Joker and Moriarty, the scene when Moriarty's ringtone goes off to 'Staying Alive' is hilarious. Going to add Tywin Lannister (Charles Dance owns) and Darth Maul just for looking cool.

Lex Luthor is definitely up there. No superpowers, just a very smart mad scientist with a lot of money, and he manages to be the biggest, most consistent threat to Superman out of all his rogues gallery. He's particularly good in the Justice League cartoon, where he enacts a grand master plan to ruin Superman's good name, destroy the Justice League, and make himself immortal. Granted, it doesn't work, but points for trying.

Oh, and he managed to get himself elected POTUS. Sure, the people of the DCU are gullible idiots, but it's still a noteworthy accomplishment.

But it wasn't an argument on amount of evil, it was on what you consider the best supervillain.

As for me.
This guy,

This fucking guy is the only villain who has made me think that doing evil could be fun. What are his powers? Intuition, planning, and cruelty. The name of the story is Wolfsmund, it will be published in English soon.

Honorable mentions: Griffith/GodHand (from Berserk), Pillar Men (from Jojo's Bizzare Adventure)

Heh, my first thought was the Joker, but you grabbed that in the first post. But it got me thinking, and this guy is by far the greater villain:

I think I'm going to have to do another Farscape marathon.

Trevor Goodchild, of the Aeon Flux animated series (1992-1995)

I apologize in advance for the Linkin Park soundtrack in the video. Turn off the sound, but it's a great video montage.

---

Mr. Gone, of THE MAXX animated series (and comic). Early 90's MTV was where the awesome animation and cerebral cartoons used to live, for some reason.

---

Also, any villain, ever, voiced by Tony Jay. RIP.

Biff from Back to the Future. He's just the perfect bully.
One thing that always confused me was how in the perfect timeline, they hired the mother's would-be rapist as their pool cleaner.

Wut.

Hazama from Blazblue is pretty awesome. He can break the minds of anyone through words along, has plans for every situation, and is brutal in combat with knives and Nox Nyctores. He is one dude you do not want to face if you want your mind intact or turned into a pawn

Slade (also commonly known as Deathstroke), as portrayed in Teen Titans.
Bond villain, fearsome fighter, strategic mastermind and boogeyman all rolled into one, with a kickass outfit and a voice as dark as the void and as soft as silk and honey.
