In the nineties? Halflife 1 then, loved it and still occasionally play through bits of it. I did play Blood, but mine was a 'dodgy' copy and there was a crash bug near the end, so never completed it. But I loved setting fire to the monks and hearing them screaming "It burns! It burns!"...

But then, in 2000, they released Deus Ex, which is as good as Halflife 1 imho. Awesome game.

DOOM. I still play this and waste so much time with it. I played it since I was in third grade, even though I was scared of it at first. Really though, anything that uses the id Tech 1 engine has me entranced.

NO, I liked perfect dark and the fact you could spice up your maps with bots. I would get four friends then set up a whole bunch of bots that only slapped, it was like left4dead before it even came out.

The Duke Nukem (64), one of my favourite games and deffinatly the best fps in the 90's. I played this for so many hours :) I think i was like 6 when i first went on it :p
Perfect Dark still didn't come out until 2000 but Duke 64 had bots, Duke Bots. It had explosive shotgun shells (nothing like hitting a guy from across a foot ball field with a shotgun) and a grenade rifle that would ricochet around corners and down hall ways. And on top of all that, areas that could be blown open to find goodies.

Quake II forever; I still play it now. It's a near perfectly put together game, and even though the graphics suck by today's standards, it's still great fun to play.

I think Half-Life Opposing Force (released November 1999 before you check!)
I loved Half Life, but Opposing Force was the better game for me for some reason. Just more fun.

Is Blood 3D the game with the skeleton cowboy with the pitchfork and sawn-off shotguns? If so, that.
Yes but it's just called blood.

Monolith knew how to crack a joke back in the day.....

"Oooohh, single white female"
"Hello I would like to speak to Mr Jass, first name Hugh"
"Get off my train!" (instead of plane, harrison ford)
Finding an orange jumpsuit with the name "Kimball" on it behind the crashed train. (harrison ford again!)
"I hate mimes"
Kicking around the severed head of your fallen enemies like a soccerball. Just so you guys know, theres a soccerfield mulitplayer level with a head in the middle if you host a lan, and it auctually counts the score. First lan soccer confirmed.

Gotta be Unreal Tournament - it felt so badass when I finally beat Xan for the first time. =]

That, and the game's soundtrack - always got me pumped during matches (particularly the music for the Liandri Core level).

Unreal. Still have the soundtrack for that game. And I must've played through it like 15 or so times.
Half-Life was a close runner up.
UT - at least until everyone started calling me a shock whore
