Actually, any shooter that lasts longer than 6 hours(in terms of SP).

umm...yeah...Half-Life and Multi-only FPS'es stand up.

Goldeneye was good, but I had more fun on the original Halo, and I never played Perfect Dark. I don't care about what people say about Halo, the way you're supposed to judge a game by is how fun it is. I'm with Almightyjoe.

You guys have to be kidding are you all out of your mind, the best multiplayer FPS has to be Aliens Versus Predators 2 Gold Edition, so versatile and hard. Was the most intense FPS I have ever played.

For single player of course you have to give props to Doom, Wolfenstien, Rock, Quake, Golden Eye, Half Life, and Dukenukem, but I have to say the best one, the only one would have to be the original Punisher for the regular Nintendo, it was kinda an adventure game I guess you could say cause you didnt control your movements, but it was a point and kill. On That note Judgement day and the Waynes World Aerosmith games were some of the best as well

I'm not sure why this game seems strangely unpopular/unknown, but it would have to be the original Unreal game for the PC (bear in mind that I'm basing this on single-player, since multi-player games don't interest me much). Probably the most atmospheric FPS I've played, and absolutely amazing weapon designs - I mean, seriously, you get a six barreled homing rocket/grenade launcher! Also, it's probably the longest FPS game I've ever played. As far as I remember, it was easily longer than either Half-Life game. Epic is the only word for it.

Goldeneye for the N64 by a long shot man.
Back in the good old days when Big Head Mode was still funny...

i would have to say shadowrun, what can i say that game is my crack. no single player and not to many maps but damn that game is fun. and yeah i dont like HL series. maybe i just havnt gotten far enough but the game never really grabbed me. the story looked promising but no intense shoot outs, and not even that much shooting makes it get a lower score. i know the lazy attitude of it is what people like but there has to be something fun to tie the slowness together

Am I the only person on Earth who actually thinks Half-Life 2 was somewhat rubbish? Probably.
Half-Life 1 was amazing though.
But I'd say the best FPS, nay one of the best games of all time has to be Timesplitters: Future Perfect - If you don't think it's awesome then you're obviously not doing it right.
You gotta love the classics like: Goldeneye and Duke Nukem 3D

I've never actually played a Half Life game but they never seemed that good in the first place. But i agree with you on Timesplitters - true FPS awesomeness.

The best "console" fps is either Timesplitters, Perfect Dark (it took everthing good about Goldeneye and made it better) or Black.

BioShock and GoldenEye.

BioShock for the story and environment. GoldenEye for the gameplay.

South Park for the N64 was great. Unlocking Terrance and Phillip was the greatest thing ever.

"I've never actually played a Half Life game but they never seemed that good in the first place."

I'd ask for an explanation, but I'm too afraid I'd actually get one.

Half life was amazing, but its gotta be Resistance : Fall of Man.
OMG forgot about Resistance. Yeah, Resistance was a pretty sweet game. Can't wait for
Resistance 2. I love spamming the Auger's secondary fire.

Deus Ex. Say what you want, but that game had one of the most kickass plots ever.
