What is the best game that you have see in your lifetime that you doubt can be topped?

Mine would have to be Shadow of the Colossus or Pokemon Colosseum. That last one might be nostalgia, but those were some damn good games.

Super Mario 64. Unless Heavy Rain and Alpha Protocol have a child that has the best DNA from both parents (Heavy Rain is the female by the way), and then that child is given a first class education and some steroids, I don't think that there is going to be any game that is as revolutionary AND finely crafted as SM64.

Run-on sentence yay!

EDIT: Oh, and I think that Pokemon Colosseum is a giant pile of bollocks that compromised the best parts of the series in order to fit onto consoles, but didn't replace them with anything worthwhile. I pre-ordered that bloody game, and it prevented me from doing so again until 2 days before Heavy Rain was released.

Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. No game will ever top it. Ever.

Honestly, probably Bioshock. My first playthrough of that game was just so tense and atmospheric, I doubt any game will ever make me feel that way again.

I was thinking of saying Pokemon, but those games get better with each installment, so I decided not to say that.

The Pokémon series.

No other game has me buying the latest installments on release day every time.

I'll be the first person to say Shadow of the Colossus is overrated. The control scheme was truly horrible and the small quadrupeds were some of the most annoying bosses in recent memory. Knocking you in a corner and tackling you as soon as you get up(taking about 5% of HP every time) is not my idea of fun.

But with that said, it really depends for me. I don't have a particular favorite, but NieR sticks out a lot through its music, characters, and plot. It's really fantastic in my opinion. Demon's Souls would fit atmosphere and real-time combat, and Final Fantasy XIII for "turn-based" combat.

EDIT: Oh said:
Oh no you didn't! That game had so many memorable environments and something resembling a storyline unlike some of the other pokemon games. It not only is one of my favorite pokemon games but one of my favorite games of all time. But to be fair, pokemon XD, which I'm guessing you haven't played, undoes a lot of that. Everything you COULD say was good about colosseum was done wrong in that god awful game.

Team Fortress 2! Any fan of multiplayer should give it a try.

No classes are superior over the other; the levels and classes are well designed for working as a team; can be very funny;

Deus Ex. Why? Because it's a bible-themed cyberpunk stealth shooter RPG about robo-facists, that's why.

MediEvil for the Playstation...

Love the game to death, play it at least 3 times a year since it came out...

Only way it could be topped is if were rebooted HD, had an epic open world, darker yet still humorous but not childish, feature all the same locations, and once you finish the main storyline, it immediately jumps into MediEvil 2 storyline making it one hell of a long game...

Also 3 runnerups would be...

Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater
Time Splitters 2
Joe and Mac

Okami.

Great gameplay, 35-50 hours of content on the first playthrough, amazing graphics, fantastic music and a very enjoyable and unique story with a healthy number of 'heartwarming' moments, especially in the end during the final boss battle.

Okami is by far, one of the best fucking games I have ever played, if not THE best game I have ever played.

Currently, Mass Effect 2.
I honestly have yet for it to meet it's match.
And when Mass Effect 3 comes out, maybe that will take it's place.
