actually, you can play MGS without killing anyone, using the dart gun....but that's shooting, I guess.hmm, Portal maybe? not counting the ending, or the turrets, but those have a sweet voice, so they don't count.

I guess everygame is violent, except Tetris

I suppose a rather nice puzzle game called "Take something Literally" if only for it unique programming and logic.

I haven't tried Monkey Island. I might give it a go, though.

why are sports games disallowed?
It's too easy and obvious (aside from football and hockey games I guess). I'm interested in more original games with characters and whatnot. This thread would be much less interesting if it was just people listing sports games.

Braid or Bejeweled 2.
They are just great fun.
What are you talking, Braid has violence. You can jump on a goons head. Reverse time. And do it over again, so that the goon is tormented over and over in some sort of Ground Hog's Day Hell.

It's really hard to find a video game that has no violent connotations what so ever.

GTA 4, you get to build up friendships, go bowling all sorts of fun activities that the whole family can enjoy, GTA 4 is probably one of the most prosocial games out there... if you ignore the main campaign.
