I've got a list of about a hundred great stand ups that I like, and there's tons of great home grown talent I could push at you, but someone I've been really enjoying recently is Louis CK.
He doesn't do the normal 'edgy' stuff of racism, death, rape, etc.
He's found the far more satisfying taboo of family, children, and the unrelenting love you have for them, and just all the general social rules about interacting with other people.
He's about the only guy I've seen who's just talking about his normal life and actually daring to say his daughters drive him insane and that 'so we're going to the ice cream parlour and my 4 year old daughter has a black eye, because she's a fucking idiot and walked into a door.'
It's so refreshing to hear someone break the taboo that children are some mystical petals of perfection that are just charming beings radiating happiness 24/7.
He's just saying , sure he loves his wife and kids, but for fucks sake...
There's links to the full show on the right.
He makes another great point about the guy wearing sunglasses, glittery pink hot pants and lime green rollerblades, and he sees him and laughs. Someone goes 'you can't laugh at him just because he's gay'. 'I'm not, I'm laughing cos he looks fucking ridiculous!'
