The best PS2 games.

Persona 4 is definitely top of the list.

Anyway, any of the SMT games on the PS2, which is Nocturne, Personas 3+4, and Digital Devil Saga 1+2. The persona games are particularly good.

At the risk of me derailing the thread, what will you do if your PS2 dies? Will you try and replace it? My BC PS3 died years ago and I'm considering paying $50 for a refurb, but who knows how long that will last. Damn, and I never got to finish Oni.

Worst off is my original XBox. Poor thing sounds like a weasel.

Nobody on The Escapist seems to like driving games, but I thought Gran Turismo 4 was cool because it supported 1080i (on a PS2!!!) with widescreen, which was pretty much at the end of new PS2 game production.

I just booted it up to check out 1080i and it didn't have an option for it. :S Is yours NTSC or PAL? and where abouts is the option for 1080i?

OT: Can't go wrong with Zone of the Enders 1/2, Kingdom Hearts 1/2, MGS 2/3, and the Dragonball Z Budokai games.

You need a component cable. The game probably detected the cable and the option showed up in one of the menus. I think I used an in-store brand, Rocketfish? Was that Best Buy or something?

Stupid me, I gave away my PS2 and component cable when I got my software BC PS3.

If you're into classic Action JRPGs with a less serious tone and on of the most fantastic soundtracks ever put on a disc, try out Radiata Stories. Just thinking about the game makes me feel better.

It's interesting to see who on this thread is from the U.S. I can't fathom just how many games were released in Japan and Europe that weren't sold here. I'm not a real anime fan, so that's like 1,000 Japan-only titles I don't miss, but if they had released Another Century's Episode here, I would probably be a different person today.

Holy crap! I've been ninjaed on Xenosaga! That almost never happens!

But yes, Xenosaga 1-3 should be played. The second one is a little... meh, but 3 makes it all worthwhile.

I have a component cable, but my GT4 is a PAL copy. They probably didn't keep that feature in the Euro release. Shame, that sounded pretty cool. Cheers for the reply!

Personally I don't think you could do much better than Metal Gear Solid 3 or Star Wars Battlefront 2. The Tony Hawks Pro Skater games were awesome back in the day, I think I had 3, and although I wouldn't say they were great by any means, one of the Dynasty Warriors or Samurai Warriors games is always good to have a stress release. So many minions to crush...
