Sindri from Dawn of War 1, no questions asked

I know, I know, looks wise he's not much to speak of, but godamn it his voice just drips pure, refined malice. I am willing to bet some cold hard cash that he's got a thin mustache and a goatee beneath that pimp-ass helmet

Sephiroth. He looks badass, and he kicks ass because of his skill, not because he a god or something.(Technically, yes he's an ancient, but that doesn't really give him much more power over normal Soldiers.)
Actually he was bred to be superhuman, so he kicks ass exactly because he is a god or something. Even normal SOLDIER were enhanced greatly.

This is based entirely on appearance and voice isn't it...

In that case it's GOT to be Darth Vader on both fronts, absolutely classic beyond reason, the perfect "Dragon" for any story.

If you wanted the BEST Villain ever, I'd have to go with Jowy Atreides from Suikoden 2, why? Because the best villains are the ones you can empathize with, doing all the wrong things for all the right reasons.

The problem with Sephiroth is that, unfortunately, we don't get to hear him much (Advent Children aside, where he only sounds good in Japanese anyway). Unless you count his theme song, One-Winged Angel.

Darth Vader is indeed a badass, but not exclusive to video games. Besides he's equalled (or trumped) by James Earl Jones' other great villain, Thulsa Doom.

For a game exclusive villain, I'd have to go with Ganondorf / Ganon (whatever his name is in whatever game). He's just so inimical, even if he is defeated by a boy armed with a boomerang every time.

Runner-up: Kefka. Dude destroys the world because he just feels like it? Badass Besides, anyone who dresses like that has to be pretty confident in his own badassness, right?

Probably either Wesker who has already been mentioned, or Liquid Snake from Metal Gear Solid (1 or Twin Snakes). I mean, come on, smooth body, blow-back blonde hair, what's not to like? Except his almost patronising tone that his voice seemed to always have.

Chalk up yet another vote to Sephiroth. My perfect man... you know, aside from all the killing and world dominating and stuff. >.>

If we're going purely off of voices, though, I have to admit a sneaking affection for Al-Mualim in Assassin's Creed. I really like that voice actor for some reason.

Wally Breen (RIP Robert Culp), and Kratos (sure he's the antihero but that doesn't hide the fact that he only lives for revenge)

BTW, tis kinda irrelevant, but here goes...

Darth Vader. The ultimate badass in any medium.

I would have to say Malak.
RANT!

sweet jelly belly jesus, what is wrong with y'all? vader and malak are pansies.

Vader - perfect villain, ruthless, ambitious, and manipulative, looking mighty sexy in black...
until Episode IV. The prequels unmasked him as a whiny ***** whose only remarkable feature is his ability to fuck himself over.

Malak - always hated the meatbag: too much of a punk to face his master in single combat, so he shoots at his ship; hamhanded, both in military strategy (throwing ludicrous amounts of sith at whoever looks at him funny) and personal interactions. Besides he looks like a cueball with a tin can stapled to his face

the only reason they can even be considered badass is that they were cockslapped so hard by superior Sith (Lords Sidious and Revan) that they had to get their battered vocal chords replaced.

Two finer specimen of sith I would recommend for this thread are Darths Maul and Revan
I'm sorry, you complain about how Vader and Malak are whusses for your entire post, and then you suggest that Darth Maul is somehow superior? Darth Maul who dies in a single episode? The guy who's supposed to be one of the most bad ass fights in The Force Unleashed, but is probably easier than any of PROXY's other forms?

Wait, wait, I forgot he was voiced by Peter Serafinowicz, Maul is awesome.

Supreme Executive Chairman Drek.

Okay, maybe he's not so good-looking, but he's got attitude and his grand scheme is at least SOMEWHAT original.

Crow (Snoop Dogg) from Def Jam: Fight for NY.

He intimidates you, threatens you and ultimately tries to kill you throughout the entire game. Eventually, he forces you to work for him and fight every ally you've ever made, including your two best friends.

And when you finally do fight the man himself, he's one tough customer. He's kind of scrawny compared to the game's other fighters, but he's fast, and hits very hard. Beating him outright with a KO or submission is nearly impossible to do, making throwing him out a window your only reasonable option.

Great villain. Snoop's a surprisingly gifted voice actor, too.
