BTW, Master Chief with an energy sword does not count. It has to be a metal sword.

They can be villains, side characters, etc.

I'm torn between the Master Chief and Frodo.
Frodo it is I guess :p

For me, it's between Cloud & Link

Wander should be at the top, he is the destroyer of Colossi. A normal man against such monstrous beings, he doesn't even need special powers just his wits and his strength and to me that is greatness.

I'm gonna go with Jean-Luc Picard on this one...

Yeah, yeah, the picture isn't from the games that had the character, but I bent the rules a little.

Guts from Berserk, hands down. He reminds me of Kratos, badass although Guts is nicer than he is.

I'd say its a tie between Kratos and that guy from Shadow of the Colossus.
Kratos is rather obvious because of his skill with a large arsenal of weapons, which include: the Blades of Chaos, the Blade of Artemis, the Blade of Olympus, a magical Bow, Gorgon heads, lighting javelins (Zeus Lightning), a giant spear, a giant hammer, a pair of over-sized gauntlets, and I'm sure future posters will probably fill in any weapons that I missed.

The guy from Shadow of the Colossus ties with him not because of particular skill (he's mediocre with any weapon he picks up, be it sword or bow), but he ties with Kratos for his incredible stamina, resilience, and sheer dogged-determination to not give up on his girlfriend despite whatever that village shaman said.

I saw one who said Grey Fox from MGS. Good as that may be, I can't help it.. why on earth has no one mentioned anyone from Samurai Champloo, or Samurai Jack? (Really, he ascended to BAMF [don't hate me, I just don't want to get knocked by the moderators] status in the last few episodes.)
I know I'm a loser for even saying either of those, but I still love them both.
Oh, and I guess I better throw in Altair from Assassin's Creed.
I didn't know there were Samurai Champloo games. But if that's the case, Mugen comes in at a close second.
Muugen is just so badass.. I can't say no to him..
I'm pretty sure one was released, but it was VERY low-key. Not too popular because it was just a terrible game.

Yeah, but unless you glow, he might not know where to stab yah. :p And his name is Wander, if you wanted to know.

And I'm going to have to go with Link, because 1.) In WindWaker, stabbing Ganondorf turned him to stone; 2.) It's called the Master Sword, that's self explanitory; and 3.) ...Yeah.

Ryu Hayabusa from the original Ninja Gaiden(NES, that is).

Honorable mention to Slayn Wilder from Growlanser III. His broadsword is bigger than he is.
