Quite a few actually, I agree with the pp who said the 1000 heartless in KH2 (absolutely awesome ''You mean I actually have to defeat a thousand of them''?) The way they made it work and made it as much fun as a van full of monkeys!
Putting Mass Effect in my 360 for the first time and then taking it out and enjoying the anticipation of waiting until Christmas (boxing day) to play it.
The beginning of FFXII was really great and gave me a real taste of the game to come.
Well, just lots of those moments tbh!

Very possibly the first time I played TF2. And, honestly, I don't know that the joy has lessened since it came out.

I'm not sure it is about that game. It just has that magic "it" that makes games good, I guess.

Playing the Fallout demo over and over again
Good times...

For me, it's hard to pick... I'll probably go with something from Morrowind, the atmosphere there was amazing... even though it didn't stand out as a very special moment in my playthrough, I'll always remember the first time I passed through the Ghostfence, into Red Mountain...
All the time spent playing before, I had to hear from dozens of NPC's what a dangerous area it is, how corprus lepers are plenty abound, how no one can help you once you've entered.
And of course, those goddamn sandstorms.

... brb, reinstalling Morrowind.
I'm playing Morrowind for the first time now and I have accidentally wandered into that area after just two hours of play.

The worst part is I have this wierd naked guy follwing me and I can't find where his clothes are for him.

I wouldn't mind a naked dude follwing me for a while, only I have the Better Bodies mod activated and it's getting a bit creepy.

I wasn't sure what to reply when the missus asked me why I was playing a game with a naked dude following me with his mansword hanging out...

She said 'I thought you said this game was like Oblivion? '

I think mine was a game of team fortress 2 i had played around the time when i just got the orange box and had finished half life 2 and portal and wanted to get the most out of the package despite the fact that i knew i wouldnt ever play team fortress because im not a fan of online multiplayer.
it was probably the 5th match i'd played and there was a point when the whol match would be decided at one choke-point that both teams were having a proper stand-off in and i realised 'holy crap, this is actually freakin epic!' and since then ive been hooked on tf2 =D

mine would have to be when i finally figured out a good character build on morrowind. there was soo much to explore, i had alot of fun just killing everything i came by, and enchanting all my stuff to become unstoppable. Now when i play oblivion, its not as fun as morrowind was, exploration just feels soo much diffrent, and its just wierd o.o. But yea, morrowind was awsome

Playing WoW years ago - levelling up with the same group of friends, insta-party to any instance. Back before add-ons and cheap mounts and questhelpers and shit. Back when we walked in to Stormwind the first time and went "oooh". Back before the general community in that game turned into a cesspool of humanity.

The times I managed to play WoW casually, few mates, first time boss kills and lots of shouting and cheers on the chat. Brilliant times, shame it can be such a social life destroying money vacuum at other times.

Also, I loved the bridge in Half Life 2.
So atmospheric and un-nerving. It stood out for me too. Especially the quiet parts with no enemies
Definitely agreed, the quiet foggy ocean atmosphere that was great for most of Highway 17 just peaked incredibly there, not to mention the beauty of the bridge itself. Of course, combat on the bridge was also rather fun.

I get all giddy at a good car chase in a game. Not just a 'vehicle session' but something high-speed with combat mixed in. Examples:
Final Fantasy 7 - motorcycle chase
Half-Life 2 - certain vehicle sessions with the chopper, bridge shooters, and the aforementioned train thing
Jedi Academy - one mission with a lot of hoverbikes
007 Everything or Nothing - highway chase mission on a motorcycle
San Andreas - ending vs Tenpenny in a firetruck

when i finally beat the boost guardian in metroid prime 2. the euphoria of that event is still here, though diminished. and it happened about 6-7 months ago.
