The plane/minigun sequence in COD4 was awesome.

I also liked how Turrets were used in MGS3 (you pretty much needed them to take down the Helicopters)

The turrets in SWBFII, specially the Turbo Lasers on the space combat mode, they are sweet.

Portal turrets are just great since they talk.

TF2 turrets scare me to hell and back as a pyro i hear the beep and im like oh crap as they shoot me in to tiny bits.

tf2 turrets are fine. they are even better when they are your turret. whats best is standing, poised with a wrench, behind the opponent who is trying to figure out how take down YOUR turret. as they prepare to strafe shot your turret, they get oily metal in their skulls

my other favorite would have to be the gauss gun on the warthog in halo.

If by saying the best you mean the best turrets at being a turret then the hardest turrets would be the ones in KOTOR if you tried to go to the underworld elevator they killed you in 2 to 3 shots no matter what.

If you mean best turret, as in the funnest turret, i would have to settle with the Half Life 2 turret thase things were so much fun to kill.

I liked the HL2 Episode 2 painted turrets. Added some "We're desperate-ly bored." element to Griggs and Sheckley.

I can't really remember many games with turrets

I did like the turret in Urban Chaos: Riot Response (for the PS2). You spend about ten minutes running between cover, shooting gang members and trying to get close enough, and then you get a grenade in the spot, and take out the guy. You're so annoyed, that when you get the option to take over the turret later in the level, you shoot everything. Good guys, bad guys, old ladies, trees, cars, walls.

CERTAINLY the most satisfying experience I can remember with a turret.

I don't know if this counts (as you can't technically operate it), but for some strange reason I loved the Imperial Guard Turrets in DOW: Winter Assault. For those who dont know, they were two giant swiveling machine guns sitting on top of a concrete block, and to me, they looked very, very cool.

Laptop gun is awesome, had completely forgotten about it till this post. I was always bummed that while holding it you couldn't press a button and turn it into it's disguised form...first time I had it I walked up to an enemy with it out, desperately trying to transform it into a lappy, needless to say I died.

Tesla turrets were always fun, especially when powered up by tesla troopers in RA2.

I liked the turrets in rise of nations rise of legends there was one type of turret that when it was build near another turret it absorbed its power to make its attack stronger and when you have a lot of resources you can build so many you can kill almost anything in 1 hit.

also the turrets from front line fuel of war were good because you could put them any were in multi player.

There's no competeing with the turrets in Portal, in what other game do Turrets talk? But do the Portal turrets only talk? No, they spew out the most adoreable one liners that an automatic death dealer ever did say! (Yes, a straight man just said the word adoreable)
