I just LOVE Skyrim, i dont think i'll ever stop playing it.
There's just SO much to do and i love it replayability, also the modding community is just great for TES games, im just waiting for the creation Kit to come out
(PS Coming from a guy whose name is "Link55" i suppose Skyward Sword isn't really a surprise)

Also welcome to the Escapist

Why? What makes it GOTY-worthy?

Not trying to be antagonistic here, but this could easily just be a "list" thread unless there's some discussion.

I have a hard time picking my favourites in anything. At the moment, I'm going to say Comic Book Hero: The Greatest Cape because of the in-depth customization, and its storytelling capabilities. I can't recall a game in recent history that was so open about where you could go. Sure, the plot points are limited because you can't be a villain, but that's not exactly the point of a superhero game, is it?

The Witcher 2 would most likely be my pick, followed by Deus Ex: Human Revolution and then maybe Skyrim.

Inb4 fuck Skyrim.

Personally, I've yet to choose between Skyward Sword and Skyrim, if only because I haven't had time to fully delve into the former - but from what I've played it's superb. The motion controls don't feel forced, the graphics are a nice balance between the 'realistic' (I use the word loosely) Twilight Princess, and the light-hearted whimsicality of Wind Waker. I'm sure that I'll play it, and adore it to shreds when I get round to it, but until then I've played more of Skyrim.

It's a beast of a game as far as I'm concerned, and, having met very few game-breakers (maybe one quest got fucked up?), it's doing admirably at what it set out to do. Leaps ahead of Oblivion, and I'm still having tremendous fun ~80 hours in.

So yeah, I won't decide until I've played more of Skyward Sword, but it's definitely between those two (unless I'm drastically surprised by something in the next 3 weeks).

I'm going to go with something that is maybe a little unusual and say The binding of Isaac. While I haven't played that much of it yet (relatively speaking) it gets all the things I'm looking for right.

Looking at your avatar and username, this could only be more obvious if you burned the game into your soul.

The most enjoyable game I've played this year has probably been Saints Row the Third. Games I repeatedly played were Dead Space 2, Dragon Age 2, Gears 3 and Saints Row the Third (duh).

Out of the games I've played that I can remember off the top of my head I'd say Portal 2. Though I still haven't played Dark Souls, Uncharted 3, or some of the other games released this fall.

Dark Souls. It has it's issues, but I enjoyed it and played it more than any other game this year. Probably is one of my favorite games of all time now.

I'd say Skyward Sword with Portal 2 closely following behind, but these games haven't gone without their flaws. The motion controls for LoZ:SS tend to spaz out at the most inconvenient times and Portal 2 was still disappointingly short.

I still haven't had a chance to play Skyrim yet because I'm still waiting for a new PC so I'm looking forward to that.

Portal 2 is my GOTY, mainly because of the co-op gameplay... it's always fun to play with a friend. But from the single player perspective, I prefer Arkham City. I enjoyed Skyrim, too, but until now I spent more time as Batman than slaying dragons with my Dovahkiin. ;)

For now I'll say Skyrim.

I have yet to play Skyward Sword and Saints Row 3, so my answer could change in the future.
