Ah, the Guyver movie, I remember trying to watch that on scrambled cable (back when you could do that) and then finally watching it on TNT or something. Good times.

Another thing it had going for it, Jimmy Walker as an (ahem) big-lipped lizard monster.
[hr]Schloctober already? Bob, just remember that James Rolfe posts his prevous year's Monster Madness on his youtube channel, so you might want to check that out so you don't mention some of the same stuff like last year.
[hr]Yeah, Guyver 2 never had a chance
interesting placement of the word "predator"

Fun Fact About "The She Creature": If you look at the abdomen of the monster, you will see two rows of 'teeth' or 'hooks'. Designer Paul Blaisdell designed these "lunch hooks" so that they could be operated with the actor's(Paul himself) abdominal muscle contractions, and make them open and close to grab the monster's prey. They were never used in the film, because the studio deemed them "too gruesome".

"The Stuff" was interesting, but not very well put together. The protaganist's eventual sidekick/contact of sorts "Chocolate Chip Charlie", the rival snack food mogul investigating "The Stuff", and his "kung fu" skills... not to mention numerous other elements just kind of put this into the catagory of "horribly bad" to the point that not even a clever premise could save.

That said, for some odd reason rather than a biting satire of commercialism, it always struck me that that was tacked on. To me, even as a kid (before I really understood commercialism or satire) it seemed to me like someone decided to hijack a Doctor Who script and turn it into a movie instead of a TV episode. Seriously, "The Stuff" seems like it would belong in his rogue's gallery, probably a tag team partner for "The Nestine Consciousness". :)

Just imagine a team up where the surviving "Stuff" has it's plastic yogurt containers animated by the consciousness so they can sneak out of the fridge and pour "The Stuff" down your throat while your asleep... the two team up to bring humanity to it's knees (insert bars of Doctor Who theme music).

David Hayter, Guyver 2 wins.
Dose anybody else think Schlocktober as a more lame, cut down version of Cinemassacre's Monster Madness?

you know what might make for a good addition for schloctober, Uzumaki (not Naruto). Its a Japanese horror movie that is based on a manga about how spirals, or Uzumaki in Japanese, are the most evil thing in the universe. people get turned into snails, get killed by washing machine, its good fun all around.
I'd recommend the original manga over the movie. The movie was kinda confusing as a result of mashing up all that stuff from the manga.

Junji Ito has made many other similarly disturbing manga, that take a simple, common objects and concepts and by slightly tweaking them make them horrible.

Yes the manga was much better than the movie, for one i could not sleep for a bit after i read it the first time.

But after i watched the movie the first time i was literally haunted by Uzumakis, for a week! No joke i would pick something up off the ground and there would be a spiral on it!

what other Junji Ito manga would you recommend? I've only read uzumaki.

The Enigma of Amigara Fault is great for creeping you out if you are even a little bit claustrophobic.
Tomie is a story about a girl who, when cut, will regenerate. So if you cut any part of her, that part will grow into a complete body. I liked this story, it was creepy.

He has written much more, I remember reading Gyo that was about stinking fish with metal legs, but I remember not liking it much, but I'm not sure if that was because it was bad or what.

Talk about a blast from the past. I remember watching It's Alive and The Stuff when I was a child. When the remake of It's Alive was made, I actually went to the theater's to see it. The killer baby freaked me right out and The Stuff still messes with me.
