It borrows way more from 1984 than it does from Battle Royale. Let's also not forget that forcing people to participate in games of life and death for entertainment in a science fiction setting wasn't invented by Battle Royale.Gatx said:I also had that initial outrage that I experienced myself when the author didn't acknowledge Battle Royale, but honestly it's a foreign film/novel meaning it's not common knowledge that it even exists to a lot of people, and the whole putting people in a survival death match situation that's viewed as entertainment, or just plain sports where people die instead of getting injured, is hardly limited to Battle Royale.Antonio Torrente said:For some reason my straight A younger sister likes Hunger Games.
The mythos you are talking about is Battle Royale. Which its author claims she didn't even know BR when writing it. Yeah, typical American plagiarism. I'm surprised she gotten away and made a crapton of money with it.
Neither did I. I knew there were more of the same types of stuff out there but that was it.The Random One said:I... I didn't know any of these things existed.
Mortal Instruments (at last to through the original 3 trilogy) was a very good series filled with plot twists, creative monster lore, and characters with depth & relatbility.Grimh said:I wouldn't be so sure about how good mortal instruments might be.
That Sunshine soundtrack messes with your head.
It's so good it makes other things seem better by association.
It could be the production company is just using The Horrible Hack's name to draw in the fanbase but have decided to do a complete rewrite and hire competent people to make a decent film.Ryan Hughes said:Andrew Niccol? Seriously? To be honest, I am a fan of his. Gattica, Truman Show, Sim0ne, and Lord of War were all good films. I actually wrote a paper discussing the role of society and identity within "Gattica, Truman, and Sim0ne," i.e. Fake Humans/Fake World, Real Human/Fake World, Fake Human/Real World, in that order.
Having him attached to anything Meyer is doing is simply mind-boggling.

The main character is a (seemingly) ordinary teenage girl who falls for a magical demon-hunting guy. Turns out he likes her too and they have a bit of a smooch. At the end they discover that they're actually brother and sister. Ouch.
Half brother and sister from the father's side so at least there won't be any problems if they have kids (that only applies if they had the same mother or there mothers were siblings).
Interesting for a liver-killing drinking game that is.Naqel said:Is it just me, or do some of those movies sound like they might actually be interesting for a male audience...

Actually they are full brother and sister. Same mother, same father. Father took off with the boy after faking both their deaths, mother took off with the girl to get away from the world that took everything from her.
Searching about the twist on MI:CoB I came across this quote:
"As readers of the series, we know how the story plays out. We know that they aren?t brother and sister. (http://tmisource.com/2011/05/17/lily-collins-talks-about-clary-and-jaces-controversial-relationship/)"
Dunno if it's true though...they are not ________ and ______, by blood, father adopted him do to guilt over his experiments, however she does have a ________ by birth. All this happens in the 3rd book.
Yeah, no.Half brother and sister from the father's side so at least there won't be any problems if they have kids (that only applies if they had the same mother or there mothers were siblings)
Autosomal recessive disorders occur in individuals who have two copies of the gene for a particular recessive genetic mutation. Except in certain rare circumstances, such as new mutations or uniparental disomy, both parents of an individual with such a disorder will be carriers of the gene. These carriers do not display any signs of the mutation and may be unaware that they carry the mutated gene.
Since relatives share a higher proportion of their genes than do unrelated people, it is more likely that related parents will both be carriers of the same recessive gene, and therefore their children are at a higher risk of a genetic disorder.
The extent to which the risk increases depends on the degree of genetic relationship between the parents: The risk is greatest when the parents are close relatives and lower for relationships between more distant relatives, such as second cousins, though still greater than for the general population
Yep, that's probably it. Hijinks Ensue is a webcomic I read regularly so I have at least seen that one.Darth_Payn said:This must be the webcomic you're looking for: http://hijinksensue.com/2008/11/12/30-days-of-twilight/
