From what I heard Superman will be single because DC lost the right of making Superman and Louis a couple not so that he can date WW

It's good to see someone else say it. I agree completely. Supes and Lois together just doesn't work.

Also yeah, the stupid briefs so many heroes wear definately need an update. Glad to see a positive design change.

Makes sense to me that Superman be an unhitched single man, considering your argument, Bob.

Also, for the love of god, NEVER bring up One More Day ever again. Or at least help me kill Joe Quesada for it.

Yeah Superman being married never made sence at all, since he never stopped doing any of his hero work to be with his wife. that just doesn't sound like superman to me

The military argument for Superman being single makes a lot of sense. I mean, I knew about Superman marrying Lois Lane, but I never thought about it much. After this video, I've realized that the writers didn't either.

Any bets on how long the DC reboot lasts? My money is on about two years, since that's about how long it'll take to set up all the characters and get a crisis crossover event going. It's really nothing more than a publicity stunt (which has worked so far).

And also, yes on the no more red underwear on the outside of his costume. It's one of those things that doesn't really work even as retro anymore.

Now I'm not a big Superman reader, so correct me if I'm wrong, but the biggest issue is not that the character doesn't (or can't) work as married. It's just no writer every bothered writing a story that explored what it meant for Superman to be married. It was just, "Oh, they're married now. That doesn't change anything except for a few throwaway panels every now and then. Or maybe she gets kidnapped." (But that last works just as well single as married.)

The "let's call it gymnastics" line cracked me up.

Also, I always found the marriage weird, mostly because there was really no way to consumate the marriage without killing her...just saying...

Once again a very insightful yet comedically entertaining lesson. I did not know about the DC reboot and it is now tempting me to go to the comic book store. Keep up this excellent work Bob.

Superman is nigh on indestructable apart from when Doomsday killed him. But i saw that as Superman held back to long when he should of gone in and kicked his ass straight away. But i guess thats the first time Superman was ever forced into that situation. Every other enemy normally crumble.

I guess you would be safe marrying him....after all comparing him to a soldier is dumb as they can be shot dead. It takes way more to take down Superman.

OT: I love his comic rants. Very interesting. Thing is if a company keeps changing their characters all the time then people will stop buying them. Like in the Starwars series where they made Han Solo shoot second. Why change things that people were happy with? If you keep changing things to suit others then you are spitting in the face of the fans that bought your product for 20 years and you will lose your sole source of money. Believe me, they will not gain many new readers with the changes, most will still be the core fans.

I would be in favor of Marvel and DC retiring some of the old superheroes and letting new ones rise up. Both companies have basically run out of ideas for the characters are are just staggering around looking for new ways to reinvent the heroes they've got. When that happens, it's time for fresh blood.

So, after watching the video, I tried to find a picture of Superman with, then without, his red underwear, and I must admit, listening to random parts of Moviebob's sentences mashed together is almost as enjoyable as listening to them in their regular order. Almost.

What gets me personally isn't so much the fact that they're breaking him up so much as the reason.

The reason they're doing this is to...make him more accessible.

What...the. What kind of dumb ass reasoning is that?
Welcome to the reasoning of people in a marketing department. This is the kind of crap that leads to shoddy characterization and design. See also: Ninja Theory's take on Devil May Cry. forgetting that most of its fans loved Dante's flamboyant attitude and corny one-liners.

At least it's not Joe Quesada's crappy reasoning for OMD which was mostly because his ex-wife was a flaming ***** to him and he's pushed his hatred of marriage onto the Marvel universe with Cyclops and Hank Pym.
