THANOS IS IN LOVE WITH DEATH?!

What the hell does that mean for our old pal Wade? Does this mean we might get a GOOD Deadpool movie? Or hell, a GOOD DEADPOOL CAMEO?!
As others said before, doubtful because Fox owns the film rights to him. It is sad they have NEVER USED HIM IN A SINGLE MOVIE, AND ANYONE WHO SAYS OTHERWISE MUST BE REEDUCATED FOR OUR COLLECTIVE SANITY.

Ahem...

Anyway, I also doubt they could really bring in his fourth wall breaking antics to this universe without seriously compromising the tone of the films.

My favorite Elder of the Universe is The Runner.
I will guarantee he won't be putting in an appearance.

WARNING! SPOILERS IN THIS POST! DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE YET TO SEE THOR: THE DARK WORLD IN THEATERS!

As soon as I saw the mid-credit stinger in Thor: The Dark World, I immediately thought to myself "Yeah, Bob is gonna have to talk about this in detail on The Big Picture come Tuesday". Seeing Benicio Del Toro as the Collector was wild and finding out that the Aether and the Tesseract were two Infinity Gems, I began geeking out. While we may not be getting a lot of Thanos in Guardians of the Galaxy (its rumored he'll be more of a behind the scenes player), I'm getting the feeling that Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet will be the major payoff in Avengers 3 if not possibly the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. I'm just speculating about this but when you're dealing with a storyline that has a madman wiping out nearly every living creature in the 616 Marvel Universe with one of the most powerful macguffin it has to offer, you definitely want to save that for last.

Also, now that Netflix is collaborating with Marvel/Disney for the Daredevil/Iron Fist/Luke Cage/Jessica Jones aka Jewel series leading up to Defenders (not sure why they didn't go with Heroes for Hire but that's just me), the next few years of my life is going to be very interesting. ^^;
You know, if you wanted to avoid spoilers you could have just used [ spoiler ] and [ /spoiler ] (without spaces) to create a box that people would have to click on to read. And if you wanted to warn about the content it would be [ spoiler=what you want to say ] and [ /spoiler ]. Just in case weren't aware.

Anyway, my only question is: If Marvel has some basic plan for what they are going to do with these movies, and they seem to. And Avengers 3 is Thanos trying to kill the universe to get some sweet sweet Death lovin. What then? I mean where do you go from there? What's the next plot? You can't really top that.

I'd hate for them to just reboot the whole thing. I'd really like them to continue with the universe they have built. Still, can they do anything that tops Mega-genocide and Death lovin?

I could actually get behind the Wolverine origin thing. It's not like they don't retcon origin stories every few years or so. The thing in the movie was just Wade Wilson, and after the experiments he survived, lost his freaking mind in the process, and now wanders the world, killing shit like Deadpool does, and never shuts up because he can talk again.
Yes, I can understand that...

...

Enjoy your stay, citizen.

Funnily enough, they actually do play up the love triangle in the comics. If I recall, Thanos actually makes Deadpool immortal (well, more immortal) just to eliminate him as a romantic rival.

I knew about the Infinity Gauntlet, but thanks for explaining who that guy was. And yeah, Guardians of the Galaxy IS going to be freaking nuts... So much so, I'm actually worried if Marvel can "pull it off" per se.
While we are on the concept of totally nuts in the parallel universe told in the Earth X, Universe X, and Paradise X series it is revealed that Thanos' mother was a Skrull and Death used this secret to make Thanos believe that Death was his mother.

So in the Earth X reality (many of whose ideas for god or bad got carried over into the main reality) Thanos relationship with Death amounted to a massive Oedipus Complex. I guess that I should mention that was just one of the ways the whole Earth X sagas were totally messed up in the head.

*slaps forehead* Shit, sorry about that. Forgot about the "spoiler" inputs on this board. Totally spaced out on that.

I hope they don't reboot as well, but what I mentioned is purely speculation at this time. God and the heads of Marvel/Disney only knows what will come from this down the road. All I know is that this is a great time to be a Marvel fan.

I always like starting one of Moviebob's The Big Picture videos because the music makes it feel, at least for a moment, as if I'm going to watch a movie with Ray Milland and Ida Lupino that I've never seen before.

I might end up seeing thor 2 with my dad and he dislikes sitting through the credits, so this video is quite handy.
This scene occours partway through the credits, after all the actors but before the production crew.

There's a second one at the very end, but thats more of a funny 'what happened to' than anything plot related.

Maybe its just me, but does Thanos remind anyone else of DC's DarkSide?
That's because Thanos was originally based on Darkseid.
Were they not also created by the same man, Jack Kirby?
Not exactly. Y'see Kirby created Darkseid for his Fourth World Saga. Jim Starlin was a massive fan of the books at the time and so when time came round to create a new cosmic villain for Marvel, he created Thanos, The Mad Titan!

...Who he had based visually on Metron; another character from Kirby's Fourth World Saga whose role was to essentially witness the events taking place between all five books that comprised Kirby's Fourth World Saga, including Jimmy Olsen: Superman's Best Friend. I'm dead serious. It was on the suggestion of an editor (whose name escapes me) that Starlin should beef Thanos up and that he should take his visual cues from Darkseid instead. The rest was history and one of Marvel's most popular and memorable characters was created.

This is where things get a little funny though.

Y'see, by the time Starlin started to work for DC he created a character called Mogul, whose most famous act forcing Superman to live a fantasy in which Krypton was never destroyed in an Alan Moore story called "For the Man who has everything" starring Wonder Woman, Batman and Jason Todd's Robin. Starlin chose to base Mogul...on Thanos!

And here is where things get even funnier.

Jack Kirby created The Fourth World Saga as a direct response to Marvel's Thor. Y'see, Kirby wanted all the affiliated characters and worlds of the God of Thunder and Lightning to go through Ragnarok, the end of the world scenario in which the figures of Norse Mythology would finally fall at the hands of Loki and his armies in a battle that would see Asgard destroyed. From this destruction, Kirby hoped to create new characters; New Gods. Lee wasn't a fan of it though and managed to talk Kirby out of it.

So when Kirby finally left Marvel and started to work at DC, his first order of business was to start his Fourth World Saga with The New Gods, where the first panel showed a barren battlefield with the half destroyed helmet of Thor in the foreground amongst the rubble. The first words of the book?

"THE OLD GODS HAVE FALLEN!"

The dig at DC isn't really necessary, plewase stop doing that.

However knowing all this makes everything feel really small and irrelevant now, especially all what's going on with Earth in Captain America/Iron Man/Agents of SHIELD when Thanos is going around ctrying to destroy the Universe. Even Loki is small fry now.

You know, re-watching this video, and having Bob section of "Mutants" as their own thing, outside of "street level", "S.H.I.E.L.D. level", and "cosmic level", it reminded me of this one guy on this one forum I go to, hoping that Fox keeps the movie-making rights to the X-Men, because he feels they're better off in their own separate universe, seeing as the thing behind "mutants" is that everyone hates them for being "different", yet everyone loves the Avengers for pretty much just that.
