How is it that we went to a rant about American Patriotism to settling our differences with Street Fighter Characters. Better yet how is it that I go from the verge of hot Floridian sex with Brandi to man of steel coital debates with you in the food court?

Jamie Oliver and Captain Britain are both from the same county as me... not much added to the topic but kinda glad to see them both mentioned. Even if Jamie is pissing you off, he does that.

OT: I personally love captain America and can't wait to see the film. Although my hopes for a decent green lantern film took a bit of a bashing recently. Also I'd go see Captain Britain.

Yeah,Super-Heroes based on their country woukd really be badass.Actually,I've got a pretty awesome idea already, but I don't think "Ger-MAN" would be a big hit,we're still sensitive about this stuff...

Oh how I revel in the mirth your misery bestows unto me. I had wondered where that egomaniaical brain-dead tedious man had disappeared to, not that I missed his unique brand of self indulgent idiocy, and you had him all along. I think I speak for he vast majority of the English community that aren't football psychopaths when I say, you can keep the waste of good carbon.

I didn't even know the UK had any superheroes whose namesakes derives from our countries. I'm definitely interested in finding out more about Union Jack, he looks bad ass.

When he says that every counrty probably has a superhero. Most of the Skandenavian countries have some norse mythology comicheroes, but Marvel pretty much ruined that with Thor so that's out.
All other Skandenavian comics ain't about superheroes, but "regular" people with popcultural humour.

I agree. It didn't really get to the same depth as the halo analysis, which I think it really could have. I mean, it's Captain America. Bob even said it, he's always been deeper than people tend to give him credit for.
One of the things that I like that Marvel did with the Captain America retcon back in the 60's and 70's is that Captain America KNEW he was a product of the 40's, and that while back then just about everything was black and white, the 60's and 70's was full of so much gray, it leached all justification arguements out of the equation.

What was good about the Captain America character was that it developed into more than just a one-dimensional character. He became everything we as Americans try to aspire to, and a symbol of what we know is wrong and struggle against it. I think Captain America is the only other Marvel character besides Spider-Man to be gripped with self-doubt as a big part of 'enemy'. Also, Bob's point about Iron Man was right on point, too. During the recent Crossover, Marvel Civil War, who lead the Renegade Heroes, and who lead the Gov't approved Heroes? Kind of makes you think, huh?

Keep Becks. And Posh. And Oliver.

We're sick of them too.

Oh, and the Street Fighter idea? We'll keep Cammie White and Scotland can have Birdie.

I don't think us Dutchies have any superheroes.

For the better, superheroes are retarded. Sorry, I just can't take it seriously. And that's coming from the guy who takes James Bond seriously.

And secondly, I'd say that Britain does have 'superheroes', except they don't wear Spandex and have radioactive powers. Bob, I'll see you an Ironman and a Captain America and raise you a James Bond and a Sherlock Holmes!
Not forgetting Artemis Fowl, Arthur Dent, A certain Timelord, Robin of Locksley, John Steed, Basil Fawlty...

We'll even let the French have Jean Luc Picard.

Really I can see how one may find a character like Captain America being a bit pretentious, but really every culture has it's own national heroes, Britain has James Bond, Japan has Susano, etc.

G Gundam is a perfect example of country show off sport fighting thing... Countries (Currently in space) pick their country themed giant robot to fight in a tournament to see who gets to be the ruler of everyone for the next few years.

I know he may not be a super hero, but I'm pretty sure Ireland can use Michael Collins [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Collins_(Irish_leader)]. He even has his own film [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Collins_(film)].

I'm sure other Irish people will agree with this? I mean, c'mon, Liam Neeson plays Mick himself and also played Zeus in Clash of the Titans. Coincidence? I think not. I think it's also not coincidental that Alan Rickman plays Dev and Snape.

Also, I think Bob's idea of two countries picking one guy to duke it out is going somewhere.

Huh. Germany doesn't have any super heroes. Sure, we have got plenty of polarizing historical and mythological figures (like Hitler, Siegfried or may be Goethe.

But none of them is a super hero, that's because these guys are an american invention. Possibly to make up for the lack of ancient myths for nothern americans.

NO! They can't have him, he's ours. Keepsies.

U.S. can have Archer, we have Picard.
