My biggest disappointment was probably Enter the Matrix, but that's just because I got suckered in by a PC Gamer cover story. I paid $60 for that pile of shit... in fact, I paid $60 for that pile of shit on the same day that the girl I liked cancelled our date and told me she just wanted to be friends. I was in grade 9, so that was pretty much the worst day of my life up to that point.

Other sequels have disappointed me, though. I was absolutely blown away the first time I played the original pre-release Call of Duty demo; I'd never played such an intense game in my life. Then Call of Duty 2 came out, and it was just a rehash of the first; I was profoundly underwhelmed. I got it for Christmas, but I knew it wasn't worth the money my parents paid for it, and I always feel kind of crummy about that.

Fable 2 - With all the hype I had expected quite the action adventure game, in spite of who the developer was. In the end you are left with 75% of the game being: "You can do it... but why bother?" and I pathetically weak storyline that essentially mimics the original. Not a particular bad game per sa, however hardly great either.

Final Fantasy XII - The trailers were fantastic, the characters appeared intriguing (except Vann) and the political focus was a breath of fresh air for a Final Fantasy series, yet despite all this the end result was nothing more then a cheap dungeon crawler with ridiculously impressive graphics. Little character development, poor pacing, terrible plot twists and the worst main character I have ever had the misfortune of playing.

Final Fantasy X-2 - Probably the biggest let down in gaming for me personally. I absolutely loved FFX and upon hearing news Square was going to release a sequel due to the impressive sales (rivaled FFVII for a time) I can honestly say I was ecstatic. Never would I have imagined Square selling out so horrendous as the cheap fanservice that is FF-2. Many noteworthy characters are ruined, voice acting is terrible as it is not the same people from FFX barring a few and the Charlie's Angel storyline was vomit educing at times. Having now forced myself to play through the game I shall admit it does have a sense of humor however given how phenomenal FFX was, I found this a huge let down and with FFXII being what it was, I am now moving all FFs to my "rent first" list, which I had never expected to do.

Spore, no reason needs to be given, anyone who bought this game on the hype will now why it failed so badly.

The biggest let down? Half Life 2 and it's sequels. Everyone I seem to know was telling me how it was the greatest fucking game ever and I played it and it was meh. It wasn't awful, it was just meh. I was expecting it to be amazing as my friends said it was and I played it and was like, oh. It's okay.

Halo. Where is the interactive environments? I'm Still waiting Bungie! Oh wait, those ideas were cancelled? Why? So you released this shit? GTFO! Can't believe Halo is more popular then Gears of War for example, I mean Gears of War is at least fun.

...How do you find one unsophisticated shooter to be fun, while not finding the other one fun?

Because of gameplay my friend. I found Serious Sam very funny so yeah. Halo didn't even have that kind of fun.

Black & White 2. I loved the first game, but 2 was a real let down.
Eh...the first game was such a big disappointment that I didn't even bother with the second game. It had good ideas, but in the end it was a clunkier Populous.
Maybe it was, I remember loving it back when I was 11 though. Havn't played it since, maybe if I did I'd be disappointed by it. B&W2 is just bad though.

Nexus: The Jupiter Incident - One of the best looking space based games I have ever seen, its almost 5 years old now but the ships, shields, and weapon effects still look good. Its a shame to see a game that came so close to exactly what I want in a small-scale space combat game fail so bad, as winning seemed to be entirely based on luck.

Gears of War 1

Assassin's Creed (I still like it, but it's far from perfect)

Far Cry 2 (like it, but also flawed)

Advance Wars: Dark Conflict (not a lot of extras)

Assassins Creed, game looked like it had so much going for it and then when you actually played it, it was all repetition with the game being fun during the killing if you repeated the process to get there enough times.
I loved Assassin's Creed, I just thought it was too short. And I will say that my biggest let down was the release of Red Faction 2. The first was awesome, especially the Geomod engine, and then the second one came out and you could only blow up certain walls that the game told you to. Pissed me off.

Baldur's Gate, I kept getting told how amazing it was and how it was vastly superior to Neverwinter Nights. It was the worst RPG I've ever played.

GTA IV. "This game got perfect scores from every single reviewer. Clearly my skeptical assumption that it is just an over-hyped mediocre shooter is just pessimism. If its scores are so great, clearly it will be one of the greatest games ever... Nope, I was right."

Star Trek: Legacy. That game just sucked. Hell, the first Starfleet Command is better.

BF2142, Orange Box, Earth 2160, Genesis Rising, Armies of Exigo, World in Conflict: all fail to run (properly) on my laptop (which is basically my PC).

Ground Control 2: GC1 was fun, the squadron-based tactics rocked and were a nice change from the usual single units, the environments looked good. GC2 was just Generic RTT #2364 with single units, lame Heroes, cluttered environments, etc.

Empire Earth II: Never before have I seen a sequel that was actually uglier than its predecessor. Also, the addition of the ridiculous territory control took the whole "classic RTS" feel away from it, and that, combined with the graphical style, makes it more suited as Rise of Nations II than EE II, and I might've been more positive towards it had they published it as RoN II.

The Settlers: Heritage of Kings. Turned The Settlers from a game emphasizing on managing a "tribe" with a simplified but still fleshed-out economic system with some combat aspects to generic medieval RTS #64 billion, the economic system is a joke, the research and weather control (srsly, wtf?) sucks, the voice acting is ridiculous, the enemies are cheesy (guys in black spiky armour wielding warhammers and battle axes? Why not just carry around a sign that says "KILL ME, I EAT KITTENS FOR BREAKFAST"?), some of the characters are so retarded (especially that mayor or whatever in one of the earlier missions, where some bishop or other turns out to have sold out to the enemy - that's the point where I got completely fed up with the game and deinstalled it) that I just want to reach into the screen, pick them up and pound them into the ground until they were a bloody pulp.

WH40K DoW: Soulstorm, the fucking memory leak makes it absolutely unplayable - it seriously takes several minutes to load the campaign screen, and by the time I'm actually starting a campaign map I could've fought one battle and be halfway through the next in Dark Crusade. I'm not going to touch that game until they fix that memory leak.
