Well, all time it would be Mario Kart Double Dash. Over the years I've probably dropped at least acouple hundred hours on that game. Last summer I had a two week time period where all of my waking hours were dedicated to that game.

A few other games I've dropped a lot of time on include: The Saints Row franchise, KoTOR, and the Battlefront franchise. I get the feeling that Mario Sunshine will soon be up there too

Final Fantasy 11, even though it was an MMO it made you grind and grind for everything! 3.5hrs events twice a week for months before you finally got your item, lotto spawning bosses with 7hr windows, thinking back idk how the hell I spent all those hrs in that game.

Persona 3. For whatever reason, I thought I wouldn't be able to beat the final boss without being at least at level 96, and anyone who's played that game should know how long it takes to level up sometimes. Turns out the final boss was only on level seventy-something, and I only needed to spam Armageddon to beat it.
Was helluva lot of fun, though.
Disgaea, particularly Etna Mode, stole a lot of my time, too.
I did the same thing. Armageddon was OP. Persona 5 better hurry up. Might download the demo for Catherine on japanese PSN, I don't think it's on American psn. Haven't checked Zimbabwean PSN, don't know if I could make it through all of the clicks.

That being said.... my answer is definitely WoW. Glad I stopped playing that game.

Other contenders by shear amounts of time: star ocean 3, final fantasy games, persona games

Honorable mention for sneakily taking more time than intended: Any total war or civilization game

Pretty much every Fallout game (except Brotherhood of Steel because I haven't played it.)

The first time I played FF VIII felt like another life I was living. I played it so damn much, I know I locked in over 100 hours into it. Triple Triad, creating Doomtrain, battling Utlima/Omega Weapon...I was a kid possessed.

Neverwinter Nights 1, hands down. I mustve done about 20 playthroughs of the OC & expansions, each worth at least 20+ hours without doing sidequests; and that's not counting fanmade modules and online play :O A close runner-up is Morrowind, i think i played and re-played it for about 3 months straight, and i still occasionally come back to it :)

WoW mainly.
But also Dragons Age, most Pokemon Games and the Kingdom Hearts or Final Fantasy series.
So much time lost...
Totally worth it though.

Morrowind, GTA 3, Vice City, San Andreas, Just Cause 2, Bioshock. But mostly free roaming games for some reason. Bioshock may not be free roaming game, but I completely lost track of time when I was playing it. 12 hours passed like nothing.

Sadly, the Zombies on Call of Duty, screw the rest multiplayers is suckish but zombies just keeps saying playplayplayplayplayplayplayplay. Also Oblivion and Fallout. The great envirionments lose their "Shabang" after a while and yes I just made that word up.

Demon's Souls. I can lose myself for hours trying to level up my character and upgrade my gear.

Diablo 2

Honourable mentions:
Starcraft
Morrowind
XCom: UFO Defence aka UFO: Enemy Unknown
GTA San Andreas
GTA Vice City
Unreal Tournament
Doom
Turrican
Frontier: First Encounters
Exile
Rainbow Islands
Magic: The Gathering
Chess

I have a fair number of serious time sink games: Civilisation 4, Rome: Total War, Heroes of Might and Magic 3, and a few Bioware RPGs but I don't actually play them much. I generally quit on most games within 2 weeks, regardless of progress, so I don't start on games that I won't make much progress on.

I used to play World of Warcraft. It was actually a lot of fun, but I would often look at my clock to find that I was still playing at 3 in the morning.

Other than that, Fallout New Vegas and Mass Effect.

I have had several through the years. Perhaps the most recent was Demon's souls, which absolutely ate a month of my life, but It was absolutely a month I didnt want to live through anyway. It held my attention mercilessly for about another month before Other things started to interest me.

Beyond that I would say the largest had to be Everquest. Over the course of the first 10 years it wracked up literally 365+ days on one char played.. not sitting in the baz, Actually 99% manned. So just under 9000 hours... of which I did manage to break free from it for 3-4 years before returning and my return was no where near as involved as my first stint during 99-04. My god, 9000 hours... I could have trained to be a paramedic and pilot in that amount of time and then still had time for several other hobbies. Hrm.. In retrospect ive wasted a LOT of time with little to show for it

"Oh god, did i just spend 8 hours playing World of Warcraft!?" was something i found myself saying more than i care to admit a few years back.
