Just had my first run. I've got about 300 hours in the original but I haven't played it in about a year (because of computer issues) so I was expecting to be a bit rusty. It ended up going swimmingly. I beat Mom, unlocked Samson, Azazel and Lazarus and got the Basement Boy achievement. It got a bit tense for a while though. I was at one heart container with no soul hearts at one point but then a lucky deal with the devil gave me 9 lives and I was able to turn it around.

Giving Azazel a go now. His short range brimstone attack is interesting. I always found brimstone a bit boring but having to get up in people's faces makes it a bit more fun.

I really dig the soundtrack though, and I was interested in Rebirth if only for an updated soundtrack, and then I heard somewhere Danny Baranowsky wasn't doing the soundtrack for the remake. Anyone know anything about that?
Yeah, new composer and completely new soundtrack. It's fitting for the game and I really like it but it is way different from Danny B's original (which I love).

I absolutely love it. I probably put in about 4 hours yesterday. I've managed to beat Mom's heart on normal mode once, before I decided to try hard mode. After playing hard mode about five times, the furthest I managed to get was depths 1, after several rounds ending in the basement. If you've spent a lot of time playing the original, I highly recommend hard mode. It is brutal in the best way possible.

Also, I liked how they buffed a lot of the weaker items from the original. It makes your success less dependent on the random number gods, which is probably a good thing.

I really dig the new art style. I wasn't sure how I would feel about it going into it, but it really works, and I think I like it better than the original art. Plus, it's awesome to have the game running in a consistent 60 fps. I also really dig the new music, although I don't know if I would call it better than the original's music. It's just nice to have some new music to play around with.

Overall, it's a fantastic game. I highly recommend it even if you didn't play the original.

I really really like it. BoI is one of the few games that brings out the Completionist inside of me. Looking forward to probably ~100-200 hours of gaming!

Also, it's really interesting how many people played that game when it was released yesterday:
I think, a similar amount of people played games like Civilization Beyond Earth and the new Borderlands during their release-nights. That's really amazing for an Indie like BoI

Well, poo. Aw hell, I'll probably end up buying it on the Holiday sale anyway. But I would have given it $10 just for a new Danny B. soundtrack.
