I laughed hard at that one. It's odd to see the hypocrisy in Rob Zombie.matsugawa said:While I respect and kind of admire the fact that Rob Zombie is essentially making the kinds of movies he wants to make and see, the fact that he's doing remakes just seems like hypocrisy.
In his music career, he resisted his songs being licensed for commercial use, and now he's picking up other people's movies and saying, "I want my own version of this." How is that any different from someone picking up one of his songs and saying, "I want this to represent our company/product?"
Remake starts with R so it can come before Sell-out in the dictionary.
His name is actually Robert Bartleh Cummings. Rob Zombie is a stage name.VincentX3 said:I always "LOL!" at the name "Rob Zombie", seriously, who would name their own son zombie?
At least if he comes from the undead it'll make sense >_>
On the serious note, a good movie is a good movie. I wish it well.
While the ending was pretty shocking, and I did throw up a bit in my mouth when all the girls in the cinema went "Ahhhhhhhhh" at the end, that was one of those films where I did have to ask "how can you end it?"PurpleRain said:To me, The Day The Earth Stood Still never happened. It just didn't. They never remade it. Moving on!Julianking93 said:I understand what you mean, I'm not a big fan of Tom Cruise either, but I don't think that remakes are ever as good as the original. But I did like that War of the Worlds. Both of them. They were just different. I usually go into a movie taking it as a completely new experience because I know that it will never be as good as the original, so I go in with low expectations and, at least 60% of the time, come out satisfied.
Now, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday the 13th, and The Day The Earth Stood Still were absolute shit and would easily rank in my worst movies of all time. Just one more reason for me to hate Michael Bay.
But I can't see how people liked the War of the Worlds. I mean, the start was nice and the CGI effects were amazing and some scenes were excellent and well directed, but the end! I'm hoping to spoil this for people. Everyone lives and gets back together again?! Could Steven have ruined the film further?! Ack! An audience goes out with the last of the movie in mind, and this was such a let down.
Will not make a sex joke....PurpleRain said:I laughed hard at that one. Which movie was bad? The Day The Earth Stood Still? Isn't that that brilliant movie made with a strong story and theme of peace and to lay down our arms in order to have a bright and war-less future and not a crappy movie about warring aliens, CGI and blow up scenes?ChromeAlchemist said:But the end did pretty much invalidate the film IMO, if I knew it was going to pan out like that, I would have just saved my money and watched The Day After Tomorrow. And was The Day The Earth Stood Still really that bad? It should have been Keanu Reeves' greatest performance!
Yeah don't get me wrong, I loved The Day After Tomorrow, but I've never seen The Day The Earth Stood Still, but now I have to, surely it can't be that bad? I'll find out soon enough.PurpleRain said:Which movie was bad? The Day After Tomorrow?
