Just seen on the news about this new movie, The Book of Eli set in the not too distant future after a huge nuclear war.

Now when I heard the plot I thought, that sounds familiar, it sounds similar to Fallout 3, then when I watched the preview it even looks like Fallout 3 lol.

What do you guys think about this movie? anyone else feel its similar to Fo3 and do you know of any movies that are similar to games?

I would like to see that movie a lot. Because, as you said, it looks like fallout 3. But looks can be deceiving.

It looks like crap to me.

The book he's trying to protect is a bible, so it'll have a bunch of lame religious references in it.

This. I'm a fan of Denzel's especially when he's kicking ass, but I'm thinking I'll just wait and put it on my Netflix que.

Not just that, but yes, that will be one of its many flaws.

and why is it that you call this a flaw?

Have you ever seen a good movie with religious messages that they use to bash you over the head with?

It's a bible? That is incredibly weak. And here I was looking forward to that movie until now.
Yeah. It is.

But what else do you expect it to be?

He's guarding a book in a post apocalyptic world. Chances are, its some religious text.

Lets take this setting, and put some interesting actor, a good script, and something more focused on survival than action.

The Guy who wrote the plot was once the Editor of PC Gamer US. ... I cant remember his name right now.

EDit: He still frequents the PC Gamer Podcast. - and I can tell you now; he doesn't sound like a bible basher.

edit edit: Gary Witta.

All post nuclear things look like fallout! there is really only one shade of BURNED WAISTLAND DESERT

At any rate, if anyone can adequately explain to me why everyone wants this magic bible in a fancy locking cover, i will go see it. otherwise i will ignore it entirely

I don't see anything wrong with the antagonist pursuing the book (not said to be a Bible, but we'll assume it is). What is wrong with that? You automatically shy away from anything with religious pretext? That's a little closed minded. If it was a different book with say the launch codes for nuclear weapons would it be as boring? Personally I don't see why everyone would be after one Bible. Also Denzel's character is willing to kill to keep it? I have a feeling it's more important than some religious text...there's some back story we don't know yet.

Also the part with the bridge that he stands on top of looks exactly like the bridges in fallout! That's exactly what I thought when I first saw it too.

The book isn't the bible, it's the Wasteland Survival Guide.

Those thugs were sent by Moira Brown because Lucas Simms ran off with her last copy.
