The book isn't the bible, it's the Wasteland Survival Guide.

Those thugs were sent by Moira Brown because Lucas Simms ran off with her last copy.
Hahaha! That's a good one! Maybe Denzel just has to go find the Mirelurks cave and plant the receiver that he carries around with him.

Which brings up another point: will there be Deathclaws?

Yeah, they're Denzel's favorite snack. Who needs raider hands when you can have fried deathclaw, um... claw.

so you're saying that it will be crap because it involves the Bible. am i understanding that correctly?
Not just that, but yes, that will be one of its many flaws.
and why is it that you call this a flaw?
He's devoting his life to keeping this book safe. People are being killed in their attempts to get the book.

If it's a spell-book, fine. If it's got plans for technology that will save the World, fine. If it's the diary of someone important and gives subtle clues to the location of some big secret 'thing' that will save them all, fine!

If it's a bible tho, then the message of the film is basically 'Christianity is the only thing that can save us', Christianity was the basis of the civilisation that just FRIED HIS DAMN COUNTRY. It's also saying the only thing that can save man is some vague book that admonishes human accomplishment and we should trust 'someone else' that likes to be VERY judgemental.

Post apocalyptic films are meant to follow the formula: Advanced but bad world, world is ruined, goes to simple and worse world, discovery is made, world is given a second chance to redeem itself.

This film is going with: Advanced but bad world, world is ruined, goes to simple and worse world, discovery is made, world is given a second chance TO BE EXACTLY THE SAME AS BEFORE (I.e. Nuked again).

I'm just going to point out Einstein was athiest, and he's the root cause of nuclear weapons.
Actually, the US was already developing nuclear weapons before Einstein prompted the US to build one. He just wanted them built before Germany built theirs, since he knew that Hitler was sick enough to drop them en masse.

Unless you're talking about E=M/C2. Then you're wrong. But I'm pretty sure you're talking about the letters he wrote to Roosevelt.

Yes, in some ways it is a bit like Fallout 3, certainly in its setting. Even in their style of dress, and the enviroment, it looks like it could actually be a Fallout 3 movie.

However, clearly it is not as we can see from the advert. I think the main difference is that this movie will lack the biting social satire that Fallout 3 has. I love Fallout 3's take on American conservativism and republican idealism, this is a game made with a point to it.

I think that this movie is a bit different, and indeed has opposite ideas to Fallout 3, since it could be seen to support old conservative views about the importance of the bible. Fallout 3 satarises religion (i.e- The Church of Atom) whereas this movie looks like it may support it.

I won't write the movie off on the basis that it has a message i may disagree with, that would just be stupid. I probably won't see it however, if i am going to the cinema this month i would rather see Daybreakers.

Please take the religion discussion to "Religion & Politics."

The movie seems good to me, obviously inspired by the Fallout games. Has it actually been confirmed that his book is a Bible?

Have you ever seen a good movie with religious messages that they use to bash you over the head with?
The Mission
Ben Hur

those i came up with in 2 secs, more to come if needed.

i can understand the dissaproval for religion in general, with all the fanatics around saying the world is 10.000 years old and stuff, but whats wrong with religious messages? most religions tell you how to be a good person, is that so bad?
Never heard of The Mission and yes, Ben Hur was fantastic, but having a movie that's up its own ass with bullshit religious propaganda or any propaganda for that matter usually will hinder that movie in some way.

Ever seen Battlefield: Earth? That movie was just propaganda for Scientology and it was utter shit.

No, its just that over 9000 films use biblical references and symbolism, its really stale.

It's a bible? That is incredibly weak. And here I was looking forward to that movie until now.
Yeah. It is.

But what else do you expect it to be?

He's guarding a book in a post apocalyptic world. Chances are, its some religious text.
I bet it's just his Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.

Seriously. Not only that though, but the fact that he chose Fallout 3, and not the other 2. It reminds me mostly of Mad Max though, since from the looks of it...people are still mostly living together trying to survive.
