Artemis walked farther into the city. It seemed luck was on his side as he came across a fairly large hardware store. Remember, he thought to himself, you're looking for tools, preferbably battery powered ones as it should be easy to find some around the store. Building materials we have and would only encumber me on my trip home. Artemis made his way inside. From an ally nearby, came the sound of ragged breathig and footsteps, but Artemis was already out of earshot and moving quickly into the store as a horde of mutants, attracted by the screams of Artemis' first victim began to move toward the store.
I sure am glad Artemis is far away from most of the other characters. I am not sure what is going on with you guys but it doesn't look good.
Wolfe continued walking. What was all that commotion I heard? Where is Dan, and Bridget? Did the Outcasts get them? What the hell happened?
He soon found himself at an intersection of two main streets Fuck...I don't remember if I go straight...Right, or left...Shit. Which way?
I don't post as much as you guys, so I try to make up for it in length.
Jaden had been watching the building for half an hour, trying to come up with a plan.
It was a large rectangular facility; big, industrial, forbidding. Not the kind of place you'd want to be.
And it was patrolled by at least four guards that he could see, with who knew how many waiting inside, and patrols regularly entering and exiting through the front door. This was absurd; there was nothing he could do, even if he'd had more than three rounds for the rifle he'd never fired before.
Still, for such an obviously secure building, there were a lot of entrances; aside from a large entrance on the front - presumably for vehicles - there was the smaller main door next to it that his companions had been taken through, and three other single doors situated on the back and sides. These other doors weren't guarded, and were almost never used. They were probably locked, but it was worth a try.
Taking his rifle in hand, he crept towards the back of the building, watching the windows, trying to see if anyone was looking out of them. He reached the door without incident. As he went for the handle, though, it started moving on its own; he froze as it turned, and before he could move, the door opened.
He found himself face to face with a tired looking man, pistol in his holster, in the process of lighting a cigarette. Jaden couldn't see his face through the mask, but he assumed he was surprised. So was Jaden. But only for a second. Then he brought his rifle up and smashed the stock into the man's face as hard as he could.
The man fell backwards, blood gushing from somewhere behind his mask, hand scrabbling for the gun at his hip. Jaden knew he couldn't give him the chance to use it, and followed him through the door as he fell, hitting him in the side of the head with the gun again. There was a wet thud, and the man stopped moving.
Wasting no time, Jaden dragged the man (unconscious or dead, he didn't care which) all the way inside and shut the door. No going back now.
Taking the man's gun (Webley Mk IV) and finding four more rounds for it when he searched him, he stuffed them into his flight jacket pocket, and headed deeper into the building.
---Bridget---
The soldier grabbed her neck and squeezed tightly,
"Stop fucking playing around!"
---Dan---
Dan felt a pain in his neck,
"Ngh..." I need Bridget...
Dan looked up and to his surprise, Bridget was standing there. Hmmm...I need...a door that will take me to Bridget...
Then a door appeared. So this room is run by imagination.....but if that Bridget was fake, what about this door? Well, it's worth a try...
Dan stepped over to the door. He pulled it open, revealing Bridget being attacked by a soldier. Dan ran in and grabbed the soldier from behind. He took the pistol from the soldiers holster and took a head shot. The soldier fell to the ground and Dan took the armour (but he didn't want the helmet.). He put the gun in the holster and hugged Bridget, followed by a long kiss.
"Bridget...are you ok?"
Bridget felt the large hand enclose around her throat. If I don't talk, he'll kill me...but if I do talk he-
Bridget watched in amazement as Dan grabbed the soldier and shot him. She moved her head only a little as the shot rang out. She dropped to the ground and felt the embrace of Dan before kissing him.
"I'm fine...how about you" she said after a while, trying to cath her breath.
Bridget rubbed her throat before moving to Dan.
"Dan...we can't leave yet. Not with you in this much pain. But if we have to...let me scout ahead" she said sweetly before looking to the door. I need to protect him
"I can't let you do that. It's too dangerous." He said in reply.
He took Bridget's hand and gently pulled her along with him. They left through the door and went down the white coridoor. There was another door.
"Shit. A voice scanner."
As Dan said those words, the door opened. "Voice accepted"
"What the fuck?"
On the other side, was a huge hall, with a long table running through the middle. Only one figure was inside. He walked over to Dan, but didn't attack. "Where are you taking the girl?" Why isn't he attacking me? Don't worry. Just play along.
"I'm...escorting her to a different interogation room. hat one got a bit messy and needs cleaning." "Very good."
The soldier returned to his seat.
The only door in the hall was an enourmouse oak door.
They headed towards it and went outside into the huge courtyard. Directly ahead of them was a wide metal gate. Dan slowly walked towards it. Another soldier approached him. "You can't leave with the girl."
Just as Dan was about to respond, a loud alarm ran through the facility. "Everyone report to the main hall. We have found a dead man with only his helmet. If anyone has seen anything, report imidietly!"
The soldier looked at Dan. "With only his helmet? You're acting suspiciouse...and you don't have a helmet on...You're the intruder!"
Dan whipped out the pistol and shot the soldier. No one else saw, due to thefact that they were all runing to the hall.
Dan spun and ran out of the gate. He saw Big Ben in the distance and ran towards it.
After a while, he was out of breath. He sat against the wall with Bridget to catch his breath.
"That was close...are you ok Bridget? You didn't get hit or anything did you?"
Bridget had closed her eyes as she was helplessly dragged through the hallways. If they notice, they'll kill us...
She had heard the voice activation but paid no mention to it and only opened her eyes a little when Dan had been talking to one of them. What does he know...who is Dan?
She heard the shot and cringed but followed after Dan, opening her eyes and squinting against the light of the sun. She leaned beside him before hearing his question. In response, she threw her arms around him and kissed him.
"You saved me back there"
She looked up at him and sighed.
"Why? I've done nothing but hate you and desert you this whole time" she said quietly, trying to think of one nice thing she did for him and failing. Why would he save me?
"Beacues I love you Bridget! It doesn't matter if you keep on attacking me, I love you." He said.
He moved down closer and kissed her. Once he pulled back, he smiled at her again. I hope she can see it now...
Bridget blushed and looked around. He risked his life for me...
"Who are you?" she asked, staring into the distant horizon and trying to figure out the answer herself
"They didn't shoot you...I mean, they did but when you were bringing me through...and the voice activation" she stammered on, trying to get to her point but still looking off in the horizon He was travelling with that other murderer...
"Hey...You hear something?"
"I do...What the hell is that noise? It sounds like something climbing...Or running, or just clanging...I don't know...
Wolfe stopped, hearing the two soldiers. Clanging? Climbing? "Gentlemen..."
Wolfe, hearing the third voice...Which sounded like what his father did we he spoke, looked intently to the corner in which the voice came from.
An instant later Wolfe heard screams, and gunfire, but mostly just screaming, some out of terror, others out of agony. What the fuck is going on?!
With that, Wolfe turned in an instant, and sprinted the opposite direction as fast as he could...Before ending up in the adjacent street from the one that both Bridget, and Dan were on. Hopefully I can find the others...I need to...
He was breathing rather heavily, and soon sat against the wall.
