Black Ops, like most CoDs (all the ones I've played), can be variably frustrating depending on
-How good your connection is,
-How persistent you are to use strategies that are fun for you despite their ineffectiveness in comparison to other methods, and
-How much a perceived videogame wrong can effect you as it piles and piles on.

For the most part, just slow down and don't sprint if you think there may be an enemy. Know and respect the enemy spawn hive. If you're still having consistent problems, you're either playing on nuke town or the enemy has found the better of you (a head-to-head battle is a two-way street, it might be the enemy more than it is you in a particular situation).

I think I'll play Black Ops a lot less, because firstly, I really don't enjoy it that much. It's not a very good game.
Secondly, it makes me rage, like you said.

Yep, it can get frustrating to die 20 times in a row. But realize this -

1) You'll get better with time
2) Connection issues will get better with time
3) You're not actually dying. Your avatar is rag-dolling.
4) Just don't take it very seriously. Losing or winning a lot doesn't say anything about a person. Realize that, win or lose, everything that happens in a game is ultimately pointless and holds no impact on reality.

But, uh... well, that doesn't mean you should stop playing it.... right?

There are so many contemporary factors that contribute to the lessening of the fun factor. The fact that your every single performance stat is tracked online and posted on a global leaderboard probably doesn't help when your K/D ratio is suffering thanks to a One Man Army noob-tuber.

Uh....anyway, just keep your head clear about what you're doing. It's a game, first and foremost. There are probably a dozen more significant things just in the same room than that game, something that almost literally ceases to exist the second you switch it off. If you're into the game (not in in terms of enthusiasm, but concentration), don't stick with the same strategy. No problem was ever solved by constantly reiterating the process verbatim. Also, don't forget to keep your cool. The mistake I tend to make is, after getting killed due to lag or a cheap shot, is blaze across the map to exact some righteous revenge on the offending player. Never works. I die within half a dozen frenzied paces. Calm nerves = clear head = precise control. When you're mad, you tense up and react impulsively and dramatically. When you're loose, you can apply more subtle and keenly-dictated actions.

Black Ops multiplayer, for me, consists of nothing but turning corners and getting killed. A lot.

I swear, you have to wonder how many people are using aim-bots. I mean... am I just that bad and they that good? Sad.
Eh. I'm not sure if it's because I'm a beginner but the last online match I played... I killed 10 players but died 15 times :/

Either someone's cheating, I just suck or these people play this shit nonstop and are now insane with trying to kill everyone in CoD >>

Yes I felt this just playing CoD4 so I stopped playing. It's a good game and all but I get to competitive. I have not touched MW2's muiltplayer much for that reason and I'm not buying BO too.

It's not just the campaign, it's mostly multiplayer; but campaigns make me mad ever since I had to endure the BS of uncharted 2 on crushing.
Been there, man. Finally got it though...probably the hardest trophy I've gotten. Did you beat the last boss the cheap way or the right way? Cuz I definitely don't understand how one would beat him straight up. Effing 5 grenades at a time...

More on topic, I've been mad at just about every game I've ever played online...TF2, Uncharted 2, Mod Warfare, Mod War 2, Halo, Killzone 2...I feel like it's just part of playing against other people, some of which are going to just be better than me, and so they kill me, and kill me, and...yeah. I can hold my own, but some people will just beat me, plain and simple. I do think that Black Ops is less rage inducing than Mod 2. There seems to be less cheap tactics, more shooty shooty. The only time I hate the game, not just the other players, is when Nuketown comes up. The map...is the size of a tennis court...wtf...
I can't remember, I think I just got really lucky and beat him the right way. Maybe it's just because I'd spent like 3 hours practicing on him, maybe more.

The weird thing is, CoD is the only series that makes me rage this hard. Bad company 2 gets me a little pissed but not that much. I don't know what it is. And playing with friends, despite what people say, doesn't help me; we rage together :D

Multiplayer makes me rage like a crazy ************. I knew it would, yet still I shelled out for it.

I love it, but it just encourages rage for some reason. BC2 and TF2 do not make me rage half as much as CoD games do. I can't figure it out :(

CoD more infuriating than other multiplayer games because you die really easily. A lot of times you will die before you get the chance to do anything. And that's more frustrating than dying after putting up a decent fight. But the game is supposed to be realistic so them's the brakes.

Try not to take the game so seriously. Play for fun and don't care about your kill to death ratio, or anything else that might bother you.

Bwuh? The campaign?

It was the easiest and most fun part of MW2, even on Veteran (except for the Favela).

Also, if the game does not bring joy to you - do not play it. No ammount of achievements are worth sitting through something you honestly don't enjoy.

For example, I did not beat the campaign on Veteran in World At War. It frustrated the hell out of me, wasn't fun, I quit.
Yeah, but this game has the Hong Kong level, which is basically the new favela. Horribly more difficult than the entire rest of the game combined.

OT no, I don't feel this, I'm starting to get a decent K/D ratio and I'm doing quite well, am beginning to enjoy my customization of my character as well. I really liked the campaign and am looking forward to playing it again for veteran...

... Except fucking Hong Kong.
