So, it appears members of GAF and beyond are using the lessons learned from the Retake ME event last year to try and get Sony (and hopefully Microsoft) to throw away their used games "solutions" and DRM strategies (which Sony has apparently been working on and waffling about whether to include in the PS4 or not) via social media protest. As such, people have been tweeting at the accounts of Sony head honchos left and right.

So, what do you all think about this protest? Do you think it will change much, or at least help? It seems to me that if enough people engage in the protest, it will undoubtedly have a positive benefit. Sony has seen the outcry over all of Microsofts shit this week, so they are paying attention. We just have to give them something to hear. :)

This is it. This is the ultimate test to see if they EVEN CARE about us.
Oh, they do care, in their own way. Negative press is something every company wants to avoid, I think, and the negative press that would be generated by an anti-used games policy on Sony's part would be monstrous. We just gotta show them what type of crap will go down if they go this direction.

I find this whole thing just sad. Not the protest, but the fact that we have to go through so much headace and effort to be able to play used games. To be able to borrow a game from their friend, cousin or something and actually being able to play it?

Just retarded. I hate that word but I will use it anyway. It's just freaking retarded. I don't know how it got to this point, i don't know why it got to this point, but I hope it gets settled the right way. Their is way too much bullshit in life, and having it in my favorite hobby/passion is disgraceful.
Yeah, I agree. This is what happens when you listen to the echo-chamber of a board of directors over the actual consumers of your product. Hopefully, they will learn their lesson from this. :(

Sony already stated there was no Used game DRM on the PS4... They said developers could block used games, but that what they would have to do is something already possible on the PS3. There will be no official built in system to block used games but that won't stop publishers.

That doesn't mean much. Just because they don't block used games, doesn't mean they don't have a fee for playing them or something equally as stupid. I mean, Microsoft claims they also "support" used games, but we all know how good their system is looking.

Besides, even if used games on the PS4 work exactly as they do on the PS3, and even if Sony doesn't have a stupid "always online" policy (unlike Microsoft), I don't think it harms anyone if we just get confirmation that things from the PS3 will be staying the same with the PS4. If anything, it is good PR for Sony.

This is the last bastion. I hate to admit it, but console gaming is dying. It's had a good run, but I feel like this is the end. The exec's don't care about us, the market is over-saturated with FPS's, and the consumer doesn't mean anything. I don't like PC gaming, I've never been able to get used to the keyboard for playing games, but soon, when the new consoles come out, the last remaining hope will be fully quashed, and the video games market will crash.
I'm getting a Wii U tomorrow, and I hope it stays afloat. Despite how everyone else sees it, I see it as an exemplary example.
It. Plays. Games.
This site will be a lot more lonely without Yahtzee and Jim, I have to say...
