It's only possible to get probation if you necro a thread for no reason. If you bump a thread while providing valid discussion, then you don't need to worry about anything.
Yes, but why should he? If the thread in question is more than half a year old, I don't see where lies the problem.
Because there is no reason not to. The thread you are trying to make already exists, so instead of making the same thread twice just use the old one. You wouldn't be complaining if the thread was only 2 days old. The fact that it is from December is irrelevant as that has no effect on the actual discussion.
Dude, that is such bullshit. Who cares about anything 6 months old?

hundreds of new people on the site, some people's obsessions might have changed. You're a fricken troll, nothing more.

I'm obsessed with reading about Wow but NOT playing it... anymore.... more or less...

The pursuit of knowledge. It'll drive me crazy. One day, I'll just be lying around in the pool, think of something, and then get an obscene urge to go and research it to the last detail.

Also, etymology, cigarettes, and companionship... but the last one's not doing so well.

Of course the time in which it was posted is relevant! Nobody wants to have the same discussion they had two days ago, but nobody is going to get made if we have the same one that was had more than half a year ago.

I don't think you get the fact that this site has no problem with repeat threads, it only has problems with repeat threads that have been done recently. If we were to go by your logic, we would have no new threads, since approxamately 90% of every thread on this site has been done at least once before.

The only way your method could be understandable is if in the last couple of days we had been swarmed with loads upon loads of "What's your obsession" threads. Which upon close inspection, we haven't.

Oh, and stop it with the unnecessary use of the "use the search bar" thing, it's just annoying.
I agree 100%

If people never repeat threads, then the site gets dull in my opinion. I like a topic to be sparked up again after a period of time. People opinion's may have changed, and it's a nice way to voice that.

OT- My obsession is my computer and everything on it o.o..

Which my opinion 7 months ago was different. Back then it was still my xbox because of all the releases =3

I'll go for the obvious:

Sex, drugs & sausage rolls.

Other than that cricket, rugby, reading, etc.

P.S. To Krak: As much as I'm all for necro-ing old threads - I too get irritated by dozens of repeat threads, but at the same time I'd say that 6/7 months is enough time to forget it and start a new one.

There you go Jak, a little more help for your cause.

I definitely have some obsessions. I don't call them by that name though. I have a definitive love of dragons that I doubt is paralleled by very few on earth. I have extreme adoration of the combination of tea, incense and meditating. I have a passion for drawing (seeing as its what I'm doing with my life)... there are probably a bunch more.
I wouldn't call this one as much an obsession as a gimmick.

I have just ate alot of cheese... no shock there. But it got me thinking about my obsession with the stuff and I wondered what your guys obsessions are.

Mine are the afore mentioned cheese and for those of you in the know, the title also makes reference to a TV show called Its Always Sunny In Philadelphia which I watch whenever I can. :D

EDIT: And now you Escapists officially rock, thanks for the back-up on the "search-button" fiasco.

The book series I'm writing, the review series I'm writing, the Escapist, and videogames (in particular, Overlord, Bioshock, and Assassin's creed II).

EDIT: Oh, I forgot Romano Cheese.
