So yeah, the city nearest to you has just been Hiroshima'd, how will this affect you? from anything from food prices to travel to- well anything. (If you live in a city just pretend you survived that and the impending fallout)
For me, I'd be more or less screwed considering I live 15 miles from a city (OK, Population 16,000 but officially a city nonetheless) and that's where my school is, oh that and radiation and whatnot affecting me.

Cleveland gets nuked.

Which means Cleveland will look and act almost entirely the same.

I mean really, have you ever been there?

Well half my extended family is dead now. I'm not sure about much else, though I'm pretty sure I live far enough away to avoid significant fallout.

This is Israel. We don't have large distances. Even if the city farthest away from me gets nuked I get insta rad-raped.

I live in a city (with ~34000 inhabitants a small one, but a city nonetheless), so I'd be dead. The nearest major city is 16 km (or 10 miles) away so, I'd be pretty screwed then as well. Bah, who wants to nuke where I live anyway?

I live on the West side of Detroit, meaning the world will instantly be far more livable, and I won't be affected too much by fallout. Prices will be fine, the state of Michigan instantly is paying far, far less for welfare programs and other bullshit, everyone just has a big boost in conditions.

So, yeah, cool.

City in which sense? Sizable population, or major metropolitan area?
well if it is considered a city by your government, alternatively you could just talk about this as your country or state capital, whatever works for you.

If we're going by what is defined as a city, even if it doesn't have the typical look of a city, I'm fucked. If I don't get incinerated, the force will probably knock my house down. I'm only a couple towns away from a city.

If we're talking the nearest BIG city, which for me would be Boston, I'd probably be fine, but I'd need to get out of town, and fast.

Assuming that the blast only affected the city, and there was some magic to stop everything else being destroyed. It would have no effect on me at all.

Otherwise I'd probably be killed by radiation, that's if the blast didn't get me, I've no idea how powerful nukes are these days.
