The mage was straight up broken in Origins. Arcane Warrior was ridiculous.
I'm always the rogue or rogue-like class on my first playthrough of games. I've always liked the play style and aura of the class.
I need to make a mage, and probablly get "grim reaper" with a mage, the more overpowered the better, I am thinking bloodmage, arcane warrior and battlemage. Which is better for a mage willpower or magic ?

Anyway I will get DA2 eventually, and play rogue, I like the class, and in every game even games like oblivion/fallout I play the stealthy character who ttargets people from afar. Allthough in DAO/DAA I use duel blades .

Is it jsut me or was the rogue very underpowered in the DA2 demo, that ogre took forever.
Honestly, a balance between the two can work wonders. And yeah, the rogue was a bit underpowered in the demo. The ogre fight felt like a death of a thousand cuts.

I want to play a mage, but then I get a whiny templar brother instead of a hot sister, so I'm still on the fence.
If I don't go mage, I'll go rogue. I never really liked tanking, to be honest.
Wait, is that how it works? You get the brother if you're a Mage and the sister if you're a Fighter? Which do you get if you're a Rogue?
If you're a rogue, you still get the sister. It's a matter of complementing your class, both gameplay and story wise. Unfortunately, I don't think anyone really likes the brother, so that's something to keep in mind if you're rolling a mage first up.

Then again, I could be wrong, and he could turn out to be a really nice guy. Who knows?
I for one am glad, since the only other "tank" option is Aveline, who looks like a transvestite...

That being said, I'll likely play Warrior for my first playthrough, to get acquanted with the game. I also feel like smashing something, so yeah...

Mage for the second, since I'll want to powergame that one and Female Rogue for third, to cover that gender and class in one go.

i prefer sword and broad warriors. i like tanking so i try to get all the enemies onto me and let my dps and healers do their jobs.

but in DA2 i might go dps warrior. i dont think ill ever play as a mage.

I'm thinking rogue at first, but then definitely playing through as a mage.

I'm curious, what exactly did you think was broken about the mage/arcane warrior in DA:O?
My mage became pretty unstoppable. The two High Dragon fights lost most of their challenge. With the right build, the Arcane Warrior can take down anything.
And the people who make theese builds have to look them up, and therefor its not much better NOR easier than cheating anyway. 'nothin to see here'

I loved all of the classes in Origins. However, due to the massive changes to the combat system in the sequel and after playing through the demo a few times, I'll definitely be playing a dual-wield rogue. The other classes and builds just bored me visually, but I loved the rogue's fighting style.

Male Warrior, because true men slug it out. If Hawke is a hero, he must be a warrior! Silly people, mages or rogues can't be heroic! You must have big ass armor and even more big ass sword! Final Fantasy games? All the heroes were warriors! Ha, take that!

(But seriously, my heroes must always be up-and-close destroyers)

Second playthrough, Female mage.

I remember. Every time I saw a mage in the CPU party, I'd hit it with lightning so it wouldn't take out everyone... Of course I was broken too, but they deserved it, I guess?

Might do a mage given how wildly improved the system seems to be, but I usually do rogue.

I will never understand why it always takes devs two games to realise that limited mana that can only be replenished with items is a bad idea - especially when the items are implemented such that they're very expensive early on and used to balance otherwise overpowered abilities by limiting how many times you can use them. I feel like we should have figured out that this sort of "limited use win button" design didn't work with PnP RPGs about 30 years ago.

the rogue was a straight up DPS (how unusual).
You obviously failed to use the rogue's many special abilities. It's ok, I didn't think of anything but hitting attack on my first playthrough either.

Gonna go evil female twin-swords rogue on a first playthrough, good male mage on a second. After playing the demo, backstab is such a cool ability that I could not choose anything else. Plus picking locks/disarming traps is generally quite handy. 4 more days!

Female warrior for my first play through. I prefer the female Hawke (and I usually go for female main characters, especially in Bioware games) and I find warriors usually suit my reckless playstyle.

A male mage then a female rogue.

About getting the brother I intend to tell him to shut up every chance I get. What ever his opinion is it is the wrong one.

I think I'll play a blade fighting rogue, as I did in Origins. (I also noticed that the ogre fight took forever, though.)
The mage is also tempting, especially that they'll be an apostate (non-sanctioned spellcaster), so it seems to add an extra twist to their story.
Warriors are essential in a party, but their focus on dealing and/or soaking damage makes them pretty boring to play. Also, I want a reason to have Aveline around. :p

No elves? In a fantasy game?!?!?!?
There will be elves. And a dwarf. But the main character's race is fixed as human. It might be a bit disappointing, but it does fit the story they intend to tell.

I originally thought of playing as a rogue...though i replayed demo as mage and found i enjoyed it more. Plus my pre-order has amulet of ashes so that will be handy.

Also going to play as a female character...almost always play as a male to sorta base it around myself but I found I liked the female voice (and her purdy eyes) in the demo....i am aware that you will be able to change appearance but the default female looked pretty awesome in my opinion

I'll play Warrior first because they are the least interesting class.

I figure my first playthrough I'll be most interested in the story...future playthrough will benefit from playing the more fun classes.

I'd recommend Mage for one time play as it will likely be the easiest way to go through the game due to additional healing for the party.

I was going to do warrior, then it turns out that they took dual-wielding out as a set of skills. Man, I could do mad damage with my DAO build. So I'll probably try out rogue since I never finished that last rogue playthrough with DAO. Then Mage.
