It's the 'ignite combustibles' bit that appeals most to me - with a bit of ingenuity and some duct tape, you could convince your (gullible) friends that you can start a bonfire just by pointing :p

Oh, I sensae a disturbance in the force.

Okay, not really, but a laser like that doesn't sit well with me. And while we're on the subject, when when are they gonna mass produce energy weapons like laser guns?

THE MODS DONT GIVE A FUCK

That is all.
It's not so much that, but that people simply need to understand that forum readership is a subsection of our traffic. The percent of people that post on the forums and read the news is pretty high as they are actively participating in the site, but a lot of people come her for any number of reasons and don't post in the forums. They will however read our news.

Ok. Can someone please give an accurate description of HOW dangerous this actually is. It's not a lightsaber so I doubt you could cut someone in two. I know it will burn you, but I doubt you will spontaneously burn into flames.

Actually they do as I think a few people have been suspended or put on probation for continually saying that.
Sure. If you leave it on your skin, it will grow hot over 10 or so seconds and you'll pull your hand out of the way. If you leave it on your couch, it will make a black point. If you look right into it from a close distance, you'll be blinded after 20 seconds or so.
A knife is way more dangerous than this.

I spent $250 on a 55milliwatt green wicked laser 4 years ago, now they sell a ONE WATT for $197?
Screw my laser.
Then again this is D-battery flashlight size while most are pen size.

This is stupid. NO ONE SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO BUY THIS . It's stupidly dangerous and should not be allowed for general publics consumption, and since there are already industrial lasers, theis has no reason for existing. There is literally no point for this things existance, and for everyone that wants one because they look cool, there will be a dickhead who misuses it.

I'm fairly sure this could probably kill someone, leaving no evidence. Ok, so I stop getting quoted for this, that last part was sarcasm. I was over exaggerating.

They have had laser cannons mounted on planes. Turns out that if the light goes through a cloud it stops burning through anything. Also it just bounces off reflective surfaces. It's a shitty weapon.

Gonna quote myself when I say:

This totally won't go wrong, nope, not at all.

OT: Wow, that really needs to be band, and the businesses shut down. I know the government going around shutting things down is very bad for PR, but you have a company selling a weapon touting as being the most deadly of it's kind ever, without any restrictions, to anyone, anywhere (in the U.K.), for a rather small price. I'm pretty sure you can't even buy a gun for two hundred seventy dollars (rough estimate), which at least then it's registered and each gun can be traced, at least in one way or another.

Why does everyone keep calling this the closest thing to a lightsaber?! It's the closest thing to a Star Trek phaser pistol dammit! Which is just as cool and nerdy really.

I don't care if i die in a horrible plane crash from one of these things.
Not when it represents the freedoms my #$%*ing nanny country government doesn't think we are mature enough to handle.
If the president of the US can launch nukes at the drop of a hat, i at least want my FU%^ING laser before I am inevitably enveoped in a mushroom cloud.

Besides death is a price I for one am well willing to pay for pure awsomness!

I mean REALLY! have lasers ever actually caused a commercial plane to crash in documented history? tell me where to find these mystical records!!

It does look pretty sweet. Sure it can damage the eye, but so can a real lightsaber, so that's just bonus points for realism. Right? Right?... *cricket sounds*

Btw, is there a typo in the title or are my tired eyes seeing things?

Right now, Jeremy is is smashing is computer, thanks Escapist.
Also, i have a thing for doing things i shouldnt do. I once got a laser pointer for an old BB gun (I bought the gun for the silencer and the laser, the gun itself was fail). It says do not point towards eyes, so my first instinct is to point it straight into my pupil to see what the big deal is. I loved seeing red with black dots.

Possibly why i now need glasses...

And as I said in the other thread:

What could possibly go wrong?

Sure they won't shave with it, but I'm sure someone will do something a lot dumber and a lot more dangerous.

This is what a class 4 laser does if it's shone on your skin for a couple of seconds.
Nothing.

Lightsabers aren't iconic because of the power, they are iconic because the beam actually cuts itself off after a certain length, which is absolutely impossible. At least when you are solely dealing with light, as in photons.

Eh, yeah. We've actually had pretty powerful lasers available to us for quite a while now. I had a mate who used to pop balloons with one he nabbed off teh interwebs for about a tenner.

Laser tech of awesome has kinda snuck up on us, actually.

Especially when you consider lightsabers aren't actually lasers but superheated plasma kept in shape with some kind of field thingy XD
And i want one but i would end up doing something stupid with it leading me to get arrested or blinding myself.

Yeah, nobody should be allowed to buy this without a license or something
