Take a look at it right here.

Do you see that? Of course you know what I'm talking about.

That lady, right there in the front. She's wearing almost nothing. That looks like porn.

And the whole thing just looks crass and bad. But especially the fact you have three fully clothed dudes in the back, and a half naked girl for "tee nund eeh" on the front. Right up front.

I am sure glad Bethesda learned their lesson and stopped doing this right away. All the other cover art for their others looks cool, like an old book. And not downright sleazy like this.

I mean, good Lord.

Just thought you Skyrim fans might like to see just how far the franchise has come in terms of cover art.

I'd much rather have that than another soldier walking slowly towards the camera.
On that note I loved how relatively tongue-in-check the cover for Gauntlet:Dark Legacy was.

CD-ROM version?
Yes, that's embarrassing.
Why is it not on DVD?
Nothing wrong with the art though.

that game is ancient, so old in computer terms that we kinda got past the point of being able to compare it.

like saying current society isn't that bad because, hé, look in the dark ages that was pretty shitty :p.

but your right ofcourse, we don't wanna go back to that kind of nonsense

Ah yes, the good old days.
Nude patch out yet?

Edit: Holy damn, that banhammer was too close for comfort.

That was bethesda's sense of humor until morrowind I guess.

Daggerfall was worse I think. Lots of naked women in that game.

Dont think Ive ever seen that game in the stores so I would think that game is like gold if someone has a boxed version.. I'm pissed my Daggerfall has disappeared - all I have left is the bottom CD case section.

Society has come along way from the past, now instead of appealing to people to buy stuff by using sexual appeal we simply.... wait a minute...

It is not like things have exactly improved in the gaming industry, look at Duke Nuke'm Forever....

You're a bit late. Complaining about a 17 year old game's cover art seems a bit silly now.

Let's face it: a lot of fantasy art is like that. At this point it really isn't even worth commenting on, Bethesda clearly has 'grown up' a bit since then, so yes it is a little awkward, but let the past be the past.

Yes, they did. A long ass time ago. So... uhh... discussion value? Because I'm seriously not seeing the point. Or is this a "point and laugh" thing? Because we could post pretty much all of the 90s in that case.

Ah, the golden age of Fantasy RPG cover art... takes me back.

This reminds me of the debates that used to rage in the White Dwarf letters page about their choice of cover art (in the 80s, pre-Warhammer days.) The editors would get praise when the cover (rarely) showed a female fighter in (relatively) sensible armor.

You do know that's how game cover arts were like back in the 80's and 90's right? This is when people view gamers were nothing more than nerds and there were no such thing as "casuel" gamers back then.

Wait what? People were complaining about the stylistic boxart of skyrim?
...
The minimal design sets the tone so perfectly =/
I find this design much more appealing to the eye then Oblivion. Morrowind did the same thing with merely the logo on the front did it not? *goes off to check*

...
...
...

Fine allright, it had the name 'MORROWIND' over the logo...
BUT STILL! What did they expect? A annoyed / pissed off warrior looking at or sideways from the camera? A dragon getting gutted? I dunno but this just looks so much better =/
Plus it just looks way better then the Arena one. It's easy to see what they were going for.
Back in the days you could do that and still sell far better. Nowadays you even got boxart critics, or hell some parents union moan about the games hurting their childrens souls.

Okay, from now on, everypony in RPGs will be completely naked.
That way noone dies.
Actually, they enhance their armor rating in the anime while fighting...

OT: nothing wrong with the cover - maybe they should have placed a Conan-character right next to the woman to have some kind of balance. But overall nothing changed in the last decade...well, it actually got worth with soldiers walking towards you...
