Nothing about her costume seems to indicate that she is a cat-like woman, though.

Then again, the new Batman movies have sucked in regards to costume design since Batman Begins, so I wouldn't have expected that to change now.
Actually, thats one of the best things about the movies. People aren't just wearing spandex and capes for the heck of it. It portrays characters in as realistic a state as possible.

So batman's costume is armor with a fire-proof glider cape.

Joker was a solo mobster in a suit (is that an oxymoron?)

The scarecrow is a psychotic psychiatrist.

Liam Neeson is a ninja ('nuff said).

Two face is a politician (so naturally he is two faced!)

And cat woman is just supposed to be a cat burglar (who probably also likes cats).
Well no, actually.

Batman looks like robo-Batman with a flimsy black nylon cap. I want my superheroes to look the part, not look the way they would if it was the real world. It's not the real world, it's a superhero universe.

And I dislike the Nolan Batman movies for this simple reason: It's trying it's best to not be a superhero movie in almost every way possible.
if thats what you want just go watch the adam west movie lmao :p

Seeing as I have yet to encounter a female character in a Christopher Nolan film who was anything but plot exposition/contrivance, I'm interested to see what he does with Catwoman.
I'm pessimistic, however. I don't think much of Nolan's capability as a writer of characters, and while Hathaway is charming enough, I don't see her as an actress with much substance in her repertoir. (A presumption which she could still prove wrong, absolutely.)

And considering a particular previous performance in the same role...

...let's just say she's got a hard act to follow.
I understand that this is your opinion but please, Pfeifer's rendition was horrible, not as bad as Halle Barry's but pretty bad. Anne Hathaway is a fine actress and I have no doubt that she will portray Catwoman better than any women who've portrayed her before.
I actually thought she did a great job she was very phychotic which fit burtons films which were supposed to be a litte more scewed

Nolan's Batman movies are by far more superior than Burton's Batman movies. I love the costumes, the actors/actresses, and the direction Nolan's movies have taken. They are much darker than any other live action Batman movies which is exactly the way it should be.
They aren't darker. They are more realistic. Tim Burton's Batman was just fucking scary. In fact, Tim Burton's Batman was so dark, they took it away from him and made the new movies toy/merchandise cows.

Not in a "14-year-old-teenage girl" kind of way. She just looks too harmless.
Anne Hathaway has proven she can be a lot more than a "14-year-old." Also, I think saying she looks harmless based on one still-shot in which you can't even see her eyes is jumping the gun just a bit. And even so, don't you think not wearing all of her potency on the outside would be a tactical advantage in her favor?

What's with the lights on her goggles? Hardly "stealthy" that.

I don't mind that they're not taking the phrase "cat burglar" literally. Wouldn't fit in the world Nolan's made.

I need to see more pics of her before I can really pass judgement. With this pic on it's own though...well there's nothing catlike about the woman! She could be Black Widow in a more loose-fitting outfit. It's cool that she's on the Batpod though. I can't wait to see more pics of her to see if she becomes the Cat-Woman instead of just the super-high-tech-spy-thief-lady.

Her performance, strike that, reverse.. Everyone's (except Michael Keaton) performance was campy and over-the-top in Burton's Batman films. I just can't get into it. I've heard the argument that Jack Nicholson's Joker was the best but I think that Heath Ledger's Joker was better and scarier which is the way the Joker is suppose to be. I will admit that I like Michael Keaton's Batman over Christian Bale's but not by much.

I'm just not on board with you on this one. Burton's Batman films weren't scary at all, just campy and ridiculous. Yes, Nolan's Batman films are more realistic and definitely darker to me. I like Burton's films over Batman Returns and Batman and Robin though but that was a given.

I'm going to reserve judgment until it is released. It may seem like an odd casting choice, but everyone said the same thing about Heath Ledger as the Joker, and I think that worked out pretty well. I'm cautiously optimistic.

A full image of her costume:

Yea, I'm gonna trust in Nolan to make it work, but if they don't at least give her something to justify the name catwoman and they just go with her being a cat burglar = cat woman, I will facepalm.

I don't really mind it much, but the hair looks like it wouldn't be practical.
That's the same thing I thought of too! It may be that I've always seen her with a hood/mask over her head, so it kinda surprised me to see that long hair. But I came to the same conclusion. I thought "That's very impractical to leave it waving about behind you. It could end up like having a cape from The Incredibles.

But then, I have to keep reminding myself that, as far as we know, she isn't a thief but another vigilante like Batman.

Which... still makes it a bit of a liability, actually...

Yeah, I think that photo is a fake. The material for her costume is different from the first photo given.

Also, look at the face. If the face doesn't seem near exact in comparison to the first photo, then the reflection in her spy goggles of the white background set from the first photo will certainly call its authenticity into question.

Hey, the Joker looked like a Drag Queen, but he still kicked ass.

I'm going to wait until I see the movie.
