I was more interested in the regeneration/knowledge side, really.

I was thinking, maybe a time lord who commited some sort of timelord-crime, and was exiled to earth (I know the doctor was, but... Its a nice hook), and told that he could find his redemption there. which he took literally, hence the travelling.

That being said, I'm now actually considering trying to make a Lich.

Which would be preferred from a story/power level standpoint?

I personally like the idea of a lich; it has more potential story hooks and feels more original then a "The Doctor but not really".

I like it, but I have two concerns:
1) Could you please expand on the powers and, more importantly, define some hard limits on his powers. Maybe materials he needs to cast, or duration limits, or even hard reasons why he won't use his powers. A good game poses some kind of challenge to the players, and god like powers tend toward non-challenge enemies and difficulties.

2) The personality is great, save that it is exceedingly difficult to plan for a character that is both "above all others" and "emotionless". When a mystery, slice of life, or "invasion of the [noun] [verb]ers" does happen, there is little that a GM can do to draw your character into the story without a reason for the character to care. Please try to add in some kind of shorter term goals that can be used to draw the character into the story.

See Zaheer above: please just define your powers and their limits. "Ascended Mage" is too undefined for GMs to use in any meaningful way, and has the potential to wreck a GMs plot. After all, a good game poses a challenge to the characters.

Also: I know your character's personality and reason for traveling, but this is a round-robin GM game, so the other players will need to know that information for future GM turns. please throw in a sentience or two on that stuff. Thanks.

Otherwise, everything looks fine

Like Kasten, because this is a multi-GM game, please answer the Personality and Reason for Traveling sections; I know the answers (at least for personality), but others do not.

Also, take your time.

Yeah, I think Lich is the one to go with.
Is this ok in powers?:

Powers:

4: Flight - as a Lich, Imperiousus is able to change his altitude as easily as his velocity, and centuries hence took to levitating above the ground almost permanently.
4: Immortality - Should Imperiosus' body be destoryed, It will be restored in perfect condition by his Phylactery a mere fortnight later. This has happened before. Many, Many times.
3: Life Drain - Flesh contact between a Lich and a living body is rarely pleasant, but if the Lich so wills, he can rapidly drain the life-force of any living creature
2: Control/Create Undead - Whilst this was used a lot in his life in the Roman Empire - it's considerably easier than physical slavery, and much more renewable - Imperiosus has been very out of practice in the last millenium. He could probably effectively command/create less powerful undead even today, with a little effort
1: He doesn't know it yet, but a slight error in some magic before his ascension to Lichdom has rendered Imperiosus immune to mind-control effects.

Limit the power to controlling undead "Imperiosus" created and I see no trouble (I just don't want to see you trying to control other characters that might play undead (like a certain half-vampire I'm expecting a character sheet for - YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE! (as do half the other players) ^_^) Alternatively, create a reason you don't control other sentient undead (see Terra on Manipulation for example)

Also, please expand on the flight power (max speeds, acceleration, etc), just so we get an idea of how powerful level 4 flight is.

The limit on the undead was supposed to be the power thing, like I could control a weak zombie, but nothing on a character's power level. If this is ok?

and the numbers will be flashed out in the final draft, it was more the flavour I was asking about.

Name: Lucius Cassius Imperiosus f. Servius

Age: 2139 (Ascended to Lichdom at age 41)

Appearance: Relatively well-maintained for a Lich, the vast majority of Imperiosus' flesh remains intact, albeit with a few bones poking out of his chest where he never bothered to re-set them. He tend to wear loose-fitting leathers, with a red cloak-and-cape affair draped over them. The contrast of the browny-black to the red compliments his not-quite-alive look, or so he feels. Being over 2000 years old, he is just about starting to go bald. (I apologise for the lack of picture, but I have 0 artistic talent.)

Species: Lich

History: Born in 127BC to Servius Cassius Imperiosus and a slave girl he never heard much about, Imperiousus' family were almost exclusively involved in the politics of the Roman Republic. One side effect of this was that he spent the majority of his early childhood in the company of one of their slaves, a dark girl from the continent of Africa. Unbenownst to his parents, the girl was an, albeit low-level, mage - she almost instantly saw Lucius' magical potential. Whilst Imperiosus' parents were on political business, she slowly taught him what little (and it really was little) she knew of magic - enough to pique his interest, such that he began to study what he could, rapidly growing in power. By age 25, Imperiosus was capable of magical feats that would have killed most classically taught sorcerers, especially ones of the age. At 34, Servius Cassius Imperiosus was taken by the great God Jupiter - into the afterlife - and Lucius was awarded his father's position (which was more than slightly influenced by his abuse of his powers).
As a member, and rising star, of the SPQR, Imperiosus realised that he would soon begin to be a prime target for assassination. This in mind, he began to devote increasing amounts of time to discovering the lost "art" of ascending to Lichdom. By the age of 40, he was ready to begin the year-long ritual of transfomation - Luckily (at least for Imperiosus), the rituals worked, and his mortality was gone - a fact he was *very* soon glad of, as he was assassinated a mere 3 weeks later. As he awoke deep in the Cassius family crypt two weeks later, he realised his Phylactery was hardly well hidden. this in mind, he took a trip to the Alps, avoiding the elephants as he did. A couple of years later, he returned to the great city of Rome, which had hardly changed, to his memory. As Ceasar was appointed Roman Emperor of Rome, Imperiosus began to construct a fortress-come-laboratory-come-sanctuary in his family's crypt. This did take the best part of a decade, but after all, he had time to spare. This fortress served him well until well into the 2nd century, but the rise of the Roman church was bringing far too many living people into Rome. This in mind, he decided that a move to britannia, or some other newly discovered country might be in order.
The centuries flew past increasingly fast for Imperiosus, with his encounters fewer and further between - a fact he started off relishing, but began to depsair the rising ennui of his Immortality. As if on cue, another Lich arrived in England, midway through the 13th century, leading to one of the biggest magical duels in not-recorded history. Decades later, Imperiosus began to gain the upper hand in the contest, and drove back the opposing Lich into his lair, high in the welsh mountains. With the Welsh Lich (temporarily) dead, Lucius found a small copper box, filled with enchanted runes, secreted away in the depths of the lair. Assuming this to be his enemy's Phylactery, he destroyed it without a second thought, and began to plot his strategy for any future encounters with Lich's.
When the New World was discovered, Lucius, slowly starting to use his praenomen, as was the English culture, relocated once again, using his accumulated treasures to pay other immigrants as labour in the construction of the first half of his newest lair, deep beneath what would later become New York. As the construction of this cavernous sturcture finished, Lucius decided, in the interest of his security, that it would be easier for him to simply kill the workers - a distinct turning point in his morality, even for a Lich. Working alone from there, he spent almost a century, and fully half of his treasures, constructing the inner sanctum of his Lair, with complex trap systems, hidden doors, and more security measures than any sane being could every think of needing. Until he recently heard of his Nemesis' continued existence, Lucius, who once more reverted to going by Imperiosus, had not left his labyrinthine lair in 150 years, feeding and maintaining resources from the (mainly) humans stupid enough to venture into his trap-infested lair.

Personality: Potentially a strong friend and hugely useful ally to those he takes a liking too, Imperiosus is generally fairly aloof, bordering on arrogant. He generally considers still-living species to be a little below him, what with their limited lifespans. That said, he is perfectly willing to work with other individuals towards his own goal, although if he gets his way, they won't know its his goals they're working towards. As may be expected from the age, Lucius can be pretty intolerant of people who's thinking he considers to be shortsighted, which is most people.

Reason for traveling?: Imperiosus recently discovered that a rival lich from a little over a millenium prior had been somewhat less destroyed than he had thought, so, with time hardly a limiting factor, Imperiosus plans to scour the earth to find his rival's Phylactery, feeling safe in the thought that his is beyond discovery.

My Powers:
4: Flight - as a Lich, I am is able to change my altitude as easily as my velocity, and centuries hence, I took to levitating above the ground almost permanently. With a little exertion, I can keep pace with most cars currently in use.
4: Immortality - Should I be destoryed, I would be restored in perfect condition by my Phylactery a mere fortnight later. This has happened before. Many, Many times.
3: Life Drain - Flesh contact between a Lich and a living body is rarely pleasant, but if I so will, I can rapidly drain the life-force of any living creature. For your average human, the draining process will take about 3 seconds from 'alive' to 'empty shell'.
2: Control/Create Undead - Whilst I used this a lot in Rome - it's considerably easier than physical slavery, and much more renewable - I've been very out of practice in the last millenium. I'd Guess I could probably effectively command/create less powerful undead even today, with a little effort. Sentient Undead seem to have a weird ability to resist this.
2: Magic - Once again, I'm a little rusty, but I was once a highly powerful mage - I mean, I became a Lich! Unfortunately, Most of my components and rituals have been left in previous lairs - Rome, and England. I wouldn't think it would be difficult to wield magic again, If I revisited my old sanctuaries to pick up my old tomes - They're unique, you know? This being said, I can remember a few minor spells, even now.
1: Looking back over some old rituals, from before I ascended, I'm beginning to suspect I might have mis-translated some of the incantations. Somehow the spell still came off, but, If my guess is anything to go by, It would probably be pretty difficult to control my mind.

Name:
Lucia Draken

Age:
250, looks about 20

Looks:
Lucia's Human form is trim and fit, having a more athletic build with light muscle definition. she has dark skin like those from the islands, she also has long dark blue hair which she wares down and light green eyes. she is considered very attractive by most normal standards. Lucia tends to favor simple outfits, jeans, t-shirt, jacket. She has a bracelet that's the focus for her mymior and acts as the gate way that leads to her lair.

Mymiors serve as storehouses, scrapbooks, computers, and ethereal emergency bank accounts all at once. A mymior is a collection of layered and interwoven spells, memories, and caches of ethereal energy, all anchored around an enchanted rock. The entirety of this is kept in an extradimensional pocket in the ethereal plane, and is thus accessible only by the user?s soul. The external form of the mymior is a broad, luminous ring with a number of radial gaps. The outer layers of a mymiors interior comprise its veil. Unless one is possessed of a dragon?s level of magical discipline (or knows the proper disarming protocols), merely looking upon the spells in this veil will cast them.

What Creature Are You?:
Platinums are the elite of the dragon world, possessing the strongest magical abilities and the best powers of flight. They have reflective skin and are internally pressurized, allowing them to travel through outer space. Rather than normal, physical wings, they have ?ether wings,? ether sails projected from the wing stubs on their backs. These provide both propulsion and maneuverability in space, allowing them to move at sublight speeds. Some platinums are capable of creating warp gates to exceed these speeds. Instead of breath weapons, platinums have ether vents that allow them to focus spell energy beams. Platinum dragons tend to have pale blue bodies with dark-blue-plated areas on their heads and backs.

Lucia's dragon for stands 30 feet at the shoulder, and roughly 90 feet long. the majority of her body is covered in a fine scale the looks more like skin, with thicker plate like scales on her back she has a total of six horns, two small ones on her lower jaw, these are short and look more like spikes, while the other four sit a top her head, one set going straight back of her head, while the other, much shorter pair, curve out and away from her head.

Biography
Lucia was born human, and is one of the few humans to transcend to Dragon-hood via the use of an artifact she keeps in her hoard. Her life before her transformation was difficult to say the least. The daughter of a slave she was bound for the same life until fortune smiled on her and she acquired the object that would grant her freedom, a 'crown', that over a two month period transformed her into a Platinum Dragon.

Her owner was less then impressed one of his slaves not only gained power, but a power he had no hope of controlling. Lucia's new found power freed her, but cost her, her 'family'. Her mother, the only family she had, became terrified of her, and with no reason to stay, she left.

Lucia traveled for a few decades, rather aimlessly before a Copper dragon in Russia going by Sasha, found her, and after hearing Lucia's tale, took her in. Sasha became Lucia's surrogate mother, and while Lucia 'knew' magic and 'how to use' her Ether Vents, Sasha taught her to use them, as well as other things she'd need to know, like the hierarchy in Dragon society, and what would be expected from her as a Platinum.

As the years rolled on humans became more and more hostile toward dragon kind, the leaders of where at a stand still for what to do, some wanted to give the humans the war then seemed to want, others believed a war with the humans would only end in the almost total destruction of Dragons as a species. Lucia as well as Sasha, and many others sided with Brood Queen T'mat in her plan to create they're own world, free of the 'blight of humanity' as she some times heard them referred to as. The best minds of dragon kind set out to craft this world, a world that took less then five years to craft.

The dragons that stayed behind where ether killed or forced into hiding, Lucia on the other hand was one of many who moved to the new 'Jade Relem'. In the years since the move she's made many friends among her kind, and even an extended family of sorts with Sasha finding a mate. Meanwhile, the leaders among the clans had been keeping an eye on the human world, as a precautionary measure and found the climate had changed some what over the years since they left, and limited travel was allowed between worlds again, though humans where still strictly forbidden.

Lucia, for the most part, tends her younger siblings, though every so often runs off to the human world to see how things have changed

Personality
Lucia is over all, nice to the non dragon folk around her, a rarity among dragon kind, and mostly attributed to her being human once her self. However, she is vindictive when crossed and will employ some extremely brutal methods if angered enough. She has a problem with 'human' authority.

She does like to hoard things like any Dragon, she favors items with a 'story' to them over 'wealth' items.

Powers
Her Dragon form is dotted with Ether Vents, which total 36 in number. from these she fires 'Spell Rays', which as the name suggests are 'Magic Laser Beams', these serve as a replacement for the 'Breath Weapon' other dragons have. as a side note: Platinums can fire Spell Rays from they're eyes while in human form, however, the Human form lacks the Dragon forms 'Spell Lenses' there for, using this skill causes physical pain and temporary blindness. Lucia seems to have a natural talent for using her Ether Vents (level 3)

Her speed and maneuverability in her dragon form is unmatched by any man made device, capable of easily outrunning even the fastest of air craft. She is however, incapable of 'FTL' travel. She's far from this feat due solely to her age, at present her top speed is around mach 20 (level 2)

Lucia's physical ability, even in her human form, is far above that of any normal human. She is however limited by her 'brood', Platinums are far more 'Magical' the 'Physical', so she could be over powered physically if she can be caught by another creature who's more physical in nature . (level 2)

Lucia 'knows' magic. like all dragons, she has a working knowledge of most forms of magic, as well as 'Dragon Magics'. She however hasn't taken the time to practice as much as she should, she CAN use magic, and very effectively when pressed to, but prefers to not to for unknown reasons (level 1)

Reason for traveling?
Cause she can really. Lucia likes to get out ever half century and see how the world has changed.

all 'lore' related information, i pulled right from the GD source book, which i have in PDF form on my hard drive

Name:Richard Fortnight

Age:18

Looks: Straight, very black hair that falls down to the bottom of his ears on the sides, and evens out somewhere in the back, it's swept back all the time into a slightly messy wave. His face is slim and sharp, and his eyes are a particularly strange blue, that makes it hard to focus on. He has pale skin that shows signs of tanning He wears decent clothes, jeans, decent, plain shoes, and he always has a t-shirt with an overshirt on top. Always. He has a beaten necklace in the shape of a chinese dragon on his neck.

What Creature Are You?: Ascended Wizard

Biography: Richard is a 'wizard', meaning he has ancestry in both Human and Demon bloodlines, but also meaning he belongs to one of the Cabals, secretive organizations of other Wizards who are dedicated to training others of their kind in how to use their complicated abilities and other useful skills, as well as spreading ideals unique to each Cabal. Cabals act as surrogate families, each with some limited territory and enough power to defend it in some fashion. Richard was born outside of all of this, to a couple of independent wizards. He was raised until the age of nine with his family, then him and his sister were sent off to learn how to use their emerging powers. Richard excelled in training in secret, but also showed high promise in public activities such as school. He graduated highschool early, and with good grades, if very few electives. He has maintained a good relationship with his sister, and he learned much about the ways, histories, and abilities of his people. After he was initiated to being a responsible, experienced enough Wizard to teach himself the rest of what he needed to know, he picked up his things and started travelling around to learn more, and get more world experience. At Prom he met a girl named Terra L. Price, who he quickly gained a close friendship with, two months later she and he expanded it above a friendship, to his delight. They exchanged gifts, where he gave her a magical ring to help her contain her powers, and dedicated himself to her.

Powers: As an Ascended, Richard is expanded beyond a normal Wizard, and has the ability to do many things otherwise impossible to normal Wizards, but he loses some abilities too. For instance, normal Wizards tend to have easier control, While the Ascended can teleport to China and back, they might not hit the exact spot they want without significantly more mental focus than a normal Wizard would ever need, and Ascended also must keep the massive amount of power and knowledge they have contained in their minds.

The powers of the Ascended are many, but their main differences over the spells of normal Wizards is that they can:

Mass Conjuration/Animation

Ascended are capable of intuitively controlling far more small things than most other mortals, which gives them the ability to animate large groups of minions, or even conjure a large group of competent minions when they try hard enough. Ascended start with large groups of perhaps twenty to thirty in normal casting, and over age and experience, this increses vastly. The hardest single power they have the doesn't involve breaking physics. 2

Mass&Energy Mastery

The Ascended are much more capable with evoking elemental responses, able to conjure tides and bring vast amounts of fire to bear, because it's the easiest element. After that, storms and lightning is their next go-to for mass destruction. When needed, they can project beams of fully controlled chaotic energy, which is extremely destructive and tends to kill absolutely. This is much more difficult than using a natural element, however, and if they're doing that they usually just start conjuring metal spears and accelerating them to bullet speeds.
Over time, this power goes from having to be controlled constantly during use, to intuitive and easy. 2

Mass Alchemy
While all Ascended can perform normal alchemy, being Ascended vastly outdates those methods, and at advanced levels of development, the Ascended can simply order the process be done by conjuring and pre-casting the required invocations. This is difficult, but can be done on large scale and tends to produce slightly better results due to the elimination of error, and imbuing of powers that the Ascended bring with the new method. EXTREMELY tiring after one or two 'casts' 1

Complete Telepathic/Telekinetic Development

The Ascended are able to easily change mass, weight, or other physical factors of things with their minds, and fly using this ability. But that's not near the limits of their new minds, when pushed to their VERY FARTHEST limits, the Ascended may scry through time, though not at all reliably, and they can speed their perception of time somewhat, though it is not true time travel, so much as it's taking advantage of their position slightly removed from the universe to 'fast forward' their own lives. Has no effect on others unless it's directly meant to be so, and they are in close contact with the Ascended. In a much easier application, the Ascended are able to use their telekinesis to go extremely fast, and slow down their perception of time through simply being fast enough that everything else seems a little slower. Even that ability is tiring. 4

DETAILS

Are the Ascended extremely powerful? Yes. Do they know everything? No. You can still trick them, it's just slightly harder unless you can distract them somehow, so it's basically the same.

They can fly VERY fast, and move fast otherwise. They also have teleportation for distance travel, but it DOES tire them, especially their method of teleportation. They can fly as fast or slightly faster than an interceptor jet, but if they do it for awhile, they're opt to get irritable and tired just like any other creature. And sloppy with tire, just like any other creature. They're also subject to the rules of physics unless they're actively at that MOMENT breaking a few SPECIFIC rules, which as I said above, is like lifting heavy weights for them. It's tiring, slightly dangerous if you don't know how, and tends to make you hurt.

"But Kasten, with all those powers, normal Wizards mush suck" No. Normal Wizards can come up with simpler ways of doing things because their heads aren't ALWAYS coursing with the eldritch knowledge of the universe, and have VASTLY more control over their powers than the usual Ascended. There also aren't many Ascended because many Wizards DIE HORRIBLY during the process. So there are risks to becoming Ascended, which can sometimes increase if they use their powers incorrectly or manage to screw up. The only things exempt from this are the Three, which is the name for the most ancient Ascended alive, and the First, which should be obvious in it's meaning. They're only gonna appear in the backround though, and don't particularly care about the day to day of anything else.

Alright, I overhauled the powers and added to the personality parts of Zaheer.

Name: Zaheer

Age: 19

Appearance: As an ascended magus, Zaheer is a free flowing energy form that glows a distinct teal. Electricity constantly jolts around him in a magnificent white shell. It is quite harmless to those around him however, as it is forever bound to his form and won't attempt to escape to the ground. He has two spots where eyes would be, perhaps an attempt to remain human to a degree.

Species: Ascended Magus

History:

"You traded it all, for power!"

"Who are you?"

"Were they worth it?"

"I don't know what you mean."

"You are a liar!"

"Please, I can sense aggression. Calm down before you force me."

"Threats now? I shouldn't have expected less from you! You may resemble a god, but you are dirt!"

Zaheer was born in the country of Syria. One of the few mages to rise from the humans, he kept his powers secret in order to practice in private. Prodigal from the start, many within his circle of friends thought he would rise to great heights and end the government oppression. The truth was the opposite.

Zaheer is not his original name, such a name was forgotten with the transformation and anyone who would remember is gone. The reaction of a thirteen year old ascending was powerful enough to level his entire town, including his family. He did not remember who he was and elected the name Zaheer in honor of his form.

Zaheer had gathered that he could further his studies in America soon after leaving Syria. He studied there for his life until now, lying and dodging around people who asked what he was doing. Learning English was a synch and so were his studies. Zaheer was more interested in the magics and his rapidly growing powers have attracted many other ascended to keep a close watch on him.

The call to his home still rings in his head and he knows that he is destined to change everything there and possibly elsewhere. How, through what means and the end result are all unknown at this point. Zaheer is more concerned with furthering his power at this moment, his goal being to ascend further and become a god.

Personality: Bold, but meticulous. Zaheer has no qualms with unleashing his power when challenged, but is well aware of what he can cause and how to avoid it. He has significant self control in that regard and looks down on everyone around him, seeing them as lesser. He sometimes tries to remember what it was like before becoming who he is now, but everything is an electric blur and sometimes he just wants a hug. Though good luck making that out in his expressionless face. In truth, he cares deeply about other creatures, but has difficulty helping them without in the process hurting them more. This frustrates him to no end and he wants more control.

Reason for traveling?: There is nothing left for him in the United States. He saw this as a good way to figure out what to do with his power. He would also like to be able to figure out who he is, as his memories of who he was before ascension are a blur at best. Returning to Syria is a priority for him. Beyond anything else however, Zaheer just wants to interact with people and explore, he is still human after all isn't he?

Powers: The question isn't what CAN he do, it is more on the lines of what is he willing to do. He can't destroy anything larger than a city, but many hardly see that as a limit and very little is out of his grasp. The issue with using his powers in small increments comes in a lack of control, so he is rarely willing to use any magic whatsoever unless forced.

The occasions in which he has abused his powers beyond simple tricks have ended horrendously. He is a giant surrounded by people who may as well be made of brittle plastic. As such, he will refuse to use his powers unless provoked beyond reproach and even then, he tries to hold back.

At this moment, Zaheer can if he would like to, destroy a major city. That would be the extent of his powers and after that he would need to rest for at least a day before using magic again. Obviously he has no intentions of doing so and if he did the consequences would most likely be fatal as he is being watched and judged.

Effectively, all of his powers are at level 1.5 for an ascended mage. That said, what is level 1.5 to an ascended compared to others is a continental split in comparison.

A small list of what he can do, although this would be very incomplete:

Lightning blasts: These can be anything from a targeted arc, to a massive detonation on the level of a nuclear blast, though the latter was only used once during his creation and by accident at that.

Shape shifting: Shape shifting is fairly easily accomplished for an ascended and he can recreate almost any form he wishes, even matching the organic structure of the creature, though doing so inhibits his other abilities significantly as his more powerful abilities would destroy the body.

Flight: Zaheer can work with the magnetic poles of the planet to essentially fly, although not in the conventional sense.

Any other elemental magic: Zaheer is proficient in all of these, though lightning is his specialty.

Conjuration: Anything from the smallest imp to large demons can be summoned at will by Zaheer, though only in ascended form.

Creation: Zaheer can combine atoms on a very small scale and make very small objects. Currently not all that useful but as he grows in power, the scales in which this magic can achieve will become great.

Destruction: Something can not come from nothing and Zaheer can very easily scatter molecules and atoms in something or someone and obliterate their being. This isn't something he likes doing to people, though good luck putting doors in his way.

Necromancy: While Zaheer could in theory learn this, he never bothered.

Transformations outside of becoming another human: Same deal as with necromancy.

Mind control: Theoretically possible later in life for Zaheer, but any attempts at this would probably just do so much brain damage to his target that he would effectively kill them.

Teleportation: Zaheer can teleport over small distances without much trouble, though if he can't currently see where he is teleporting to, the risks involved become substantial.

Time altering: IF Zaheer were to attempt this, as he has yet to, bad bad bad things would happen and he would probably end up breaking something so bad that five other ascended would need to fix it.

Healing: More basic moves such as closing cuts or other wounds are trivial to Zaheer, but he can't bring someone's leg back without a lot of concentration and even then he is prone to messing it up and using too much power.

If you guys can think of any other school of magic tell me and I will write about what Zaheer can do in that area, but most likely he just hasn't had the time to learn anything about it that could be useful.

Name: John T. Hardin

Age: 24

Appearance: White male with brown hair and brown eyes. Clothing depends greatly on current mission. Tends to go with bluejeans, a jacket and a thick coat (with a shirt hiding light body armor), with a "hearing aid" in his left ear, which has plenty of room for runes and gadgets he needs. On mission, he tends to break out some heavy duty kevlar mixed with iron armor, covered with symbols, salt, and electric wiring.

Species: Human, mage (self proclaimed "Technomage").

History: Son of a normal FBI agent in Austin Texas (mother died years earlier, John suspects she was a full blood mage). From a young age interested in science and technology, John discovered his powers by accident when he shot a burst of flame from his gameboy and burnt good old Dad's shoes off. From there he practiced his powers, and using the scientific method tested many interesting combinations. Unlike many other young mages, his Father was very supportive of the young's one efforts, confused by it, but supportive none the less (the fact John learned basic cleaning and cooking spells early might of helped that). While it sometimes did cause things to just explode, John found many ways to combine modern tech and ancient magic, which would of been labeled heresy if he trained in a wizard community. John was fairly good a keeping his powers a secret. His father wasn't.

His father's links with the FBI got John the attention from the government, and after high school was offered (although John at the time did take as a bit as a threat) for the PIA (Paranormal Investigation Agency) to help study, control, keep secret, and at times eliminate the Paranormal. The PIA researches and contains the Paranormal, doing every it can to keep magical world a secret. Sometimes it reaches peaceful agreements (such as giving vampires access to a blood bank so they stop preying on humans) or eliminates it. While working for them, John continues to find creative uses for his much more limited powers, and using his brains to make up for the raw power he lacks.

Personality: Creative, talkitive, and a bit nerdy. When not on missions he often is writing programs in Perl (magical or otherwise) and often can't help but tinker with spells, computers, or both. A bit socially reclusive, he tries to be friendly and works on his missions to the best of his abilities, although can be a bit of a snarky prankster. Often compared to a mad scientist to those who know him, but he isn't really. Mad tech magician is more correct.

Reason for traveling?: Various objectives from the PIA sends John across the globe, sometimes with back up, other times alone

Powers:

Basic to medium spells John can do fairly competantly (3). However, his half human genetics, combined with his lack of formal magical education, has limited Johns raw power, and he only can do a limited amount of "classic" spells, nor is trained in any actual "school" of magic.

Combinations of magic and tech, however, John is VERY good at. Sending curses over emails, making golums out plastic or steel, using batteries as a way to blast electrical attacks, using teleport spells on live grenades, size modifcation spells so he can fit more RAM and memory onto his laptop, and making a 3D printed that actually transifigures the printed objects. Using his "hearing aid," he can directly connect to the internet, keeping a list of spells, and able to magical hack any computer with a Wi-fi connection or a USB port. (4)

John also has the ability to convert electric power into raw magic, part of the reason why he is so adapt at combining electronics with sorcery, allowing he to do charms he is not very adapt at or use power he couldn't normally use. However, the process is ineffeicent, with about 6 times the electricty then the magic he gets out, and tends to blow out what ever system he is drawing power from, if it doesn't automatically shut down. (1)

Even without direct magic, John's main power is his creativity. John has spends a lot of time thinking of ways to combat magical beings through mundane ways. Paint ball guns filled with holy water, etch containment runes and cross into walls and cover it with wall paper, using a pair of night vision goggles to look directly at a Medusa, etc. (4)

If nothing else works, John can fall back on some good old human fire power, being good at using guns and explosives. One would hardly believe how many "immortal" beings, so sure of their dominance of humanity, only to be killed by a few heavy slugs to the chest. (3)

The above to skill sets translates to many objects magical objects on his person that he uses fiding, studying, and fighting the Supernatrual. He has a Colt .357 revolver, with bullets ranging from normal lead, to silver, to wood, to iron ones with crosses cut into them and blessed by priests. He also has a taser, sometimes a bit more stealth than a gun or magic is needed. Instead of a traditional wand or staff, John has wires running to his hands, connected to a small computer with a small program containing the written incantations (the fact these wires cover John's entire body allow him to throw spells from just about any limb and fool unaware creatures. He does keep a wooden wand on him incase the wires are cut or the computer fails. His Iphone is magical charmed to have clear reception across the globe, filled with magical books and information on various creatures (has program/charmed it to identify creatures with the phone's camera). Has canteen filled with holy water, various holy objects of various religions, several potions, a small flame thrower, cast iron knife with engravings, a silver blade, and a thin wooden core, pepper spray, and many other objects. Also has more advanced armor, and a Keltech Shotgun (the two tube magazines allowing quick switches between ammo types when needed) and some moderate explosives. (3)

Richard's powers are much like Zaheer's, I just named the schools he's currently got useful knowledge in.

As time goes on Richard will become better and gain more powers.

Reason for Travelling: Richard, as an Ascended, sees very little difference between a city and a wasteland past the affects on magical powers, however one thing Richard always sees as important is Terra and his loved ones. Protecting Terra and his sister are extremely important, and he'll make any sacrifice-even the ultimate one- to protect just one of them. For both of them, he'd give up his humanity and become a monstrous devil of a being to use up all his energy and protect them. He travels to make those things unneeded, and to spend time with the said two.

He also wants to increase his own knowledge and power, to see how far he might be able to go.

Personality:Richard is reserved and inquisitive. He doesn't socialize with a large amount of people, and tends to trust sparingly. He always wants to know more, as a Wizard his lifestyle revolves around knowledge and learning, so he tends to be rather intellectual and thought out. Even so, he makes sarcastic jokes and enjoys the writings of the Human writer Mark Twain. Richard is also somewhat of a trickster and planner. He enjoys manipulating harmless pranks into effect.

But most of all, he just wants to do the right thing.

Name: Seras Rogue

Age: 20

Appearance:

Seras stands at around 6'3'' and has a slender body, which has been kept in shape thanks not only to the sports she takes part in, mainly swimming and fencing; but also the faster metabolism of her species. Before her seal was removed, her dark red hair was usually messy in style and around shoulder length; but recently she has let it grow out longer; reaching past her shoulder blades, and will occasionally wear it in a ponytail. The pupils of her eyes are rather human looking, despite having a vampiric background.

When it comes to clothing, Seras normally wears a long dark red overcoat with a white trim on top of a short sleeved buttoned shirt. For legwear, she has a pair of light grey cargo pants (reason being for the multiple pockets), and for footwear, she has long boots.

Species: Dhampir

History:

Seras was born into a well off family in the outer suburbs of England. Due to her mixed heritage, there was a mixture of home schooling; where she learned swordplay and magic from her father Dominic a vampire. Her human mother Nicole taught her how to draw, where later on in college, she would learn to improve upon her technique. She would later have a younger sister, called Katarina, though she prefers to be called Katie; both have inherited their mother's beauty, and also the traits of their father. The family moved to America when Seras was in her late teens.

Her college life however, would prove to be her most interesting years yet, as it allowed her to make quite a few friends due to her talents. However, there were a couple who are special to her.

First there was Tera L. Price: Seras met the Succubus when both were in their freshman years. Both were having late night practice at the school, and after some initial hesitancy, became fast friends; both having an interest in books and athletics.

Second was Theon Versipellis: The two had met after Theon saw one of Seras's fencing matches, and instantly fell in love with her. When the fencing match was over, he had the courage to ask Seras out, only to be met with a slight disappointment of being rejected. However, Seras liked his attitude, and became friends, meeting every fortnight. Little did they both know that it was a fated encounter.

When it was time for the college prom, Seras had been dancing with a number of people; but it was the time she spent with Theon that was the most special. After a very enjoyable evening of dancing, the two went to a bar. During the next two months, the relationship between them had blossomed greatly, spending quite some time together. It was during these months that she began to have romantic feelings for the shape shifter. These came to fruition when it was time for graduation.

After heading to a private location, Theon declared the love he had for Seras; and topped it off by covering one of the school rooms in violet roses, which were her absolute favourite, even better was that she even got a bouquet of them. This caused Seras to well up in tears and declared her love for Theon as well. Shortly after, they began making plans to travel the world, something which would grow with the addition of another couple, Tera and Richard, who were also their friends.

During the business of the seal removal, Seras discovered that Theon was half werewolf, and even helped him come to terms with that after a brief fight with his other half Sandulf. Her own removal had its moments as well. After a brief surge of power, she was taken to a strange realm, and heard a voice call that "She has awakened...".

Personality:

Seras is a polite careful person, and is often loyal to her friends, and is willing to defend them. Her artistic skills more often or not show her more feminine side. Whilst she is generally an honest person, and willing to own up to her mistakes, there are at times when she can be a little devious if its called for; but she sees manipulation as unfair.

Reason for travelling? : Seras is travelling the world, not only to learn more about it, but also to spend more time and get to know her boyfriend Theon in a more personal manner.

Powers:

(Level 4) Magic: Thanks to the years of extensive training and tutelage she has received from her father Dominic, Seras has become an expert in the fields of elemental magic; and in the art of summoning familiars. Familiars are spirits who have been called back into service once again by the master/mistress, and can be used in a variety of roles; ranging from combat, defence and support. However, the overall strength of a spirit will determine how long it can last. Where as with elemental magic, Seras can either use it on its using, being able to dual wield two elements at once; or enhance her sword with the element in question for a brief period.

(Level 4) Swordplay: Due to her training, Seras has become an expert swordsman, being proficient in both one handed and two handed fighting styles, but prefers to use the one handed sword called the Rogue Morte or Red Death; a weapon that has been in her family. Using her skills with a sword in combination to other abilities, Seras can be a formidable opponent in combat situations. Whilst she knows that she isn't the greatest swordsman in the world; Seras is proud of what she is capable of.

(Level 3) Vampire Benefits: Even though Seras is only a Dhampir, a half vampire, she still gains the traits that they possess. These include enhanced physical strength and mental fortitude; which branches off into being immune to those with the ability to control other people's minds. Faster reaction times and higher agility, meaning she can react quicker to a situation, although it isn't at the same level as a fully fledged vampire yet. With the removal of her seal, she has been able to occasionally charm people to her way of thinking, though she rarely uses this ability, seeing it as unkind to manipulate others for her own benefit.

(Level 2 Shadowflight: When her seal was removed, Seras was seen being able to hover in mid air due to two shadowy jets that emanated from her palms. She later discovered that this was an advanced vampire power known as Shadowflight, which allows her to teleport short distances, and provided she can concentrate enough, fly; though this side of the power has been difficult to control so far.

EDIT: IT IS COMPLETED!!!

I see no major problems. PM me some ways to draw you into the story, as I don't know how to draw that kind of character into a murder mystery with "creatures that are beneath you"

ACCEPTED!

I like it; I just want to know what she does know about recent humanity/other creatures and why she would be taking an airplane to London given her much faster and probably more comfortable ability to fly.

ACCEPTED!

Shape shifting: Shape shifting is fairly easily accomplished for an ascended and he can recreate almost any form he wishes, even matching the organic structure of the creature, though doing so inhibits his other abilities significantly as his more powerful abilities would destroy the body.

AND

Transformations outside of becoming another human: Same deal as with necromancy [isn't good at it]
I'm a little confused what the distinction is here? Is transformations like Transmutations? (Alchemy rather then shape-shifting). Could you please explain the difference? Thanks

Second; if you are a shape-shifter; please limit it to non-magical, weaker versions of the true thing (so the resident Were-wolf/shifter isn't overpowered by the mage; no one wants to be overpowered in their own specility). In essence; you could become a bat, or a dog, or a sea-sponge, but not a Vampire/Werewolf/Dragon. While not a problem for my game, it could be problematic if someone decided to make a "save the world" adventure, and as stated before; party balance is a good thing.

Otherwise: I see no problems; ACCEPTED!

Not gonna lie; I started reading this character on neutral, hit Technomage and thought "this is silly", then by the time I reached the bottom I was smiling at all the awesomeness in contained.

The desire to see you making Golems out of everyday objects was perhaps the best ("I attack the demon with a toaster golem!")

ACCEPTED with great gusto.

I see no problems thus far; let me know when you are done with the powers.

On that note:

because this game seems to have a bit more power creep then I expected, I think some of the earlier approved characters may want to "level up"

have my go ahead to expand on their powers if they wish; pending approval of course - just so they can compete with the Ascended Wizards and Lich and Dragon and....

This is by no means necessary - I intend to leave Terra alone for example - but the option is open.

@ALL: I will be closing the acceptance period tonight. Aside from the character changes I either requested or am allowing, I will be accepting no new characters following about 11:00 PM tonight (so anyone hovering around may wish to do so.)

Because you expressed interest before this date; you can submit a character through Thursday if you still want to play.

Gotcha. Okay, understood. I will make a small note of it in the shape-shifting section when I move the character to the character list so it's clear.

:) glad you liked her.

as far as what she knows. she more or less knows what every one else does, though weather she can go "oi, you are a succubus" while looking at Terra is debatable she knows non humans are in the world with humans (hence why the reopened borders), so won't be surprised by seeing one walking down the street.

and that in mind >.> she wouldn't take a plane, not when she can literally fly circles around the the thing. but for the sake of meting up, hows 'she still got to got the immigration, so she has to go to the air port anyway' sound?

it'd put her in the same place as every one else

Oooor maybe she doesn't want to attract too much attention in a world explicitly run by the baddest eldritch bullies on the block?
