I agree there are some seriously bad navigation issues in it. I think it really could have done with map markers at points so you didn't have to spend twenty minutes searching areas with your ultra slow walk.

Also the Hills level was a total pain in the ass to find your way around as it kept teleporting you back to the same spot and you couldn't see the correct path through the mist.

Still think the game is fantastic though.

The giant cannon was just obscenely cool.

This game is definitely one of the best games most people have never heard of

I saw my roommate play through pretty much the whole thing. He really enjoyed it and I thought it looked immensely cool!

I thought it was okay but nothing special. I disliked the World War One levels, and I thought everything felt a bit claustraphobic in the subways all the time and even outside in the city it never felt very open ended like it should have felt - very lifeless like a stage. It was a bit gloomy for my tastes sometimes but the story was good, and quite shocking at times. The combat was fun but fairly standard apart from the powers, but they were sometimes a bit fiddly to use and that vortex attack thing was extremely overpowered and made the game very easy from that point onward. Eating the hearts of your enemies never got old.

I enjoyed it but I wouldn't call it a sleeper hit or really anything special, just a decent but flawed FPS with a great story.

Indeed a great game, for sure.
It's a shame Yahtzee only half-arsedly reviewed a PS3 demo of it.

I don't understand why they made it non-linear to be honest, its not as though theres much point.
True, it still felt really linear despite it's supposed open world. The side quests were meh. Dead Space took this concept and did it well.

Its up there in terms of favourite 360 games. I enjoyed it more than Bioshock myself, which I hold in regard.

Yeah exactly, the main issue for me was by making it non-linear they couldn't make specific objectives or way points. The alternate missions were always, go scare him or go shoot this guy.
And the rewards for them hardly merited doing them... oh yay I got another phone number. But the phone conversations could sometimes be very funny...

The signposting was messy at best but hey I got where I was meant to go eventually.

I also forgot to mention that this game has one of the best uses of a loading screen ever done. This is how you stop people getting pissed off during loading screens, people!

Yes I enjoyed this game a lot myself, it's a shame all the reviewers said it was shit. Now people who live by Xplay will never play it

I loved that game. Especially when you see incarnations of the four horsemen.

I didn't play the whole game but I loved the demo, especially shooting people in the mouth, and more especially shooting the homeless in the mouth.

Condemned 2 came out in March/April 2008. Unless you are living a year into the future and writing through an magical internet time loop that would mean it is not two years old.

My point anyway was that these two games are lauded with praise for thier visual style and have some of the best graphics of any games.

I felt there were parts of the Darkness that equalled and sometimes surpassed them in that department, yet I have never heard it get the praise it deserved.
