wow, that was a stupid test. As soon as I got to the "all joy and pleasure seem to have disappeared from my life" question It thought it was a joke. Seriously, anyone who thinks that would have noticed they're depressed, I don't think they'd need a test to find out.

Also the "have you been gaining or losing weight despite not being on a diet" question was stupid too.
Yes, I've been gaining weight since I was born because I eat. No I haven't been on a diet. I must be depressed.

30. Minor to moderate. I suppose that's to be expected, considering how much of a hater I am, and how many things I've done that I'm not proud of...
It would have been higher, if not for the wording of the suicide question. I never wonder HOW I could commit suicide. I know very implicitly, first-hand, how to take human life. Taking one's own is easier than taking that of another... no chance of struggle, and you know every move you'll make before you make it. Just a matter of knowing human anatomy from that point.

74.
I figured it'd be pretty high. I've been depressed since I was six.
At least I'm upbeat about it. ^__^

Moderate to severe depression?
Nah, I'm just a pussy. :L
Seriously open questions though, lot of demand characteristics and if your taking the test you likely have a desire to prove yourself to be sad (The psychology student in me talking)

Get well soon if you got a bad score. May this smiley be the first of many on your road to recovery :)... Actually screw it lets pull out all the stops :D

Got a 5, not at all depressed. Sounds right, I enjoy my (modest) life and don't complain a lot.

Well, interesting how high people seem to be scoring. Maybe the test isn't really to accurate. Either that or the The Escapist is a depression magnet?

16. I thought I was going to rank higher, with all the stress and uncertainity going on in my life right now. Then again, there are good days and bad days, and my good days tend to be pretty freakin' awesome, so I guess that kinda levels everything out.

One of the questions in the depression test boiled down to 'Are you depressed?'
Yeah, it's not very trustworthy.

28, it seems feeling a bit tired and worn out is depression now. Considering I just completed my first term of uni, I think its understandable that I'd be a bit tired and in need of some recuperation.

59...what?

Yeah, I'll have stages where I'm pretty depressed, but I figured things had been going pretty well lately. Then again, it is an online test.

I get depressed sometimes; usually from seeing something that upset me particularly in a movie or on TV. Most recently, I felt nauseous and like I was going to cry for two days solid. I couldn't stop thinking terrible things; that my parents were going to die, that my cats were going to die, that I'd never meet anyone who would want to kiss me.
What helped me was my mother. We would talk, and she would help me cry when I needed it. It really helps not to be alone. You can't be alone with thoughts like that; it makes everything worse. I even had to sleep in my mom's room because I couldn't bear to sleep by myself, even though I'm almost fifteen. Distractions sometimes help, but that depends on the person.
I feel much better now.

21-35, minor to moderate depression. Seems to make sense to me, I'm generally nihilistic and I have a logically bleak view on everything so... yeah makes sense.
did you just put nihilism and logic in the same sentence? From a purely anthropological point of view i can make a great case for Natural Law (objective law), all cultures have cetarin common laws upheld with in them, for example "don't kill innocents", now what a culture defines as innocent is very different but the idea is the same all over. Nihilism is ridiculously easy to find flaws with by the way.

I may not be depressed but i may be a masochist picking arguments with random forum goers about philosophy...
Nihilism= the belief that life is meaningless, whether or not society wants to kill innocents has nothing to do with it. Nihilism is logical because biology is logical, if I am to believe science and not religion then the only logical conclusion is that we are all organisms bound to die eventually. In addition to this the planet itself will eventually be doomed to destruction. So why then is life meaningful? We all live, and we all die just the same.

32. But all of my answers were slanted because I had spinal surgery two weeks ago, so naturally my ability to do things is lowered and I'm feeling very tired. But no, I'm not depressed.

For discussion, are you worried about depression? Have any of you ever suffered from depression, and if so how did you tackle it? Maybe you took the test and got an unexpected score?
yeah I am I experienced it a few times (hate being a teenager) and it can scare me cause I'm a fun loving guy but what really makes me bounce back is talking to my girlfriend or my mom they always seem to cheer me up and my score was 21 so minor to moderate symptoms but I am a teen so yeah...
