Goldberg's test. Pfft.

Yeah you should never use these as diagnostic measures; consult a specialist. I mean according to some other tests I've taken online I'm a Ravenclaw or a tiger or whatever.

Heck I got a 40 (moderate to severe depression) on the test and I've been doing pretty well lately.

Got a 77, not unexpected. I mean I do have on my counselor's files 1 suicide attempt and I still think about it from time to time. Nothing to worry about though since I'm christian and know suicide would automatically send me to Hell (this is a benefit of religion).
In other words, you would kill yourself if not for the threat of punishment?
Maybe, I'm not sure if I could. I mean I had a loaded gun to my head once but a friend has since told me I could screw it up and end up paralyzed.
Your friend is probably right, though you'd have to botch it pretty bad for that to happen.
Well the gun was a .22 and I've heard those can bounce around in the skull thus pretty much ensuring I end up dead. Then again the barrel was in my ear so I worry if at that close a range it could've gone all the way through and done less damage.
But we don't want you to end up dead, nor paralyzed.

54, wow
and to tell you the truth, this stuff doesn't help me feel any better.

You know, Im in college right now, Im the first person in my family to go to college before serving in the military. My fathers military disability is what is keeping me here and no matter what I do, or how hard I try, I always fuck it up at the last second. I dont think I was cut out for college or maybe I just wasn't ready for it but I dont know what else I could have done.
I don't know the specifics of your situation, but I would advise against tolerating confusion. If you're confused about something, seek help right then and there, be it from a tutor or a textbook. Otherwise, the challenge snowballs and becomes an insurmountable obstacle to passable understanding of the material at hand.

64! I win at depression.
Thanks Doctor Goldberg! Now I can put a number to the severe crippling depression I already knew I had.
How depressed am I? I'm 64 depressed.
At least it isn't OVER 9000!!

OT: I got a 25 so "Minor to Moderate" which is pretty much what I assumed anyway seeing as how clinical depression runs in my family and whatnot.

40. Eh.

I haven't been diagnosed with anything, but folks keep telling me to get checked out for anxiety and such. My father has been on meds for decades for severe social anxiety and my mom's been on pills off and on for depression...so...runs in the family, I suppose.

Then again, if I'm at 40 and being advised to seek help, then those of you with 80+ scores are in dire straights.

Also, the test is crap. I answered mostly "Partly", which I apparently incorrectly assumed to be normal, and still wound up being moderately to severely depressed. So, again; Eh.

I suffer from depression, but it's more of a side effect to having social phobia/anxiety - so I wouldn't really call me depressed.

Reached level 82 on the test. I guess that's bad, but these tests cannot really be counted as reliable anyways. :p

Let's see what you've got internet test I'm only taking because I'm bored but not quite tired enough to hit the sack just yet...

Result: 2 - apparently I am awesome at not being depressed. Which is not to say that I never feel down, but the sorts of emotions and thought processes this particular test asks about are almost entirely alien to my personal experience of life (I would probably have scored a 0 if it weren't for questions like "Do you feel tired?"). But then I already knew that - I've always found it very hard to relate to people claiming to be depressed and unable to shake their persistent depression because, in my experience, happiness is a choice, so if you're wallowing in an endless pit of misery you must be doing something wrong.

Or so the thinking of a fellow who has legitimately never been depressed in his entire life and therefore does not have a great deal of empathy goes anyways - I'm pointing out here that I already know that I'm an insensitive clod when it comes to this topic, so all the miserable people who're probably going to quote me to argue with my 'position' can just nip that silly notion in the bud. Seriously, there isn't any reason to convince me that I'm wrong, I already know that.

My score marked me as possibly having minor depression, probably for the most part because I often do think about how I could commit suicide. Not for any real reason, it's just something that I find interesting to think about.

Gave me a 47. I know I'm depressed, but I'm not worried. I'm merely a product of my circumstances. I don't need pills or psychotherapy to fix that. Neither of which I could afford anyway. Oh man, that IS depressing.

I would say the only way to solve my depression is by treating the root cause of it. I just need to work harder at improving my situation so I worry less about meeting my basic needs.

58.... huh, well ok then, guess I need help...

My biggest gripe with this sort of stuff is its almost geared towards giving you a high "score" with how the questions are phrased, not to mention some of those things with me will flux from time to time, one day I might feel hopeless, the next I feel as if the world is my oyster, but theres no progressive tracking or anything like that.

Simply put, can an online quiz build a detailed, intricate portrait of me and my life with a 5 min, multiple choice form? no, no it cant

I often have a hard time making simple decisions. It didn't occur to me that this could be related to depression.

Scored in the "moderate to severe" range. Makes sense enough for somebody in the post-bachelor's-degree-in-a-crappy-economy-mid-life-crisis stage.

I get the feeling a test where it's this easy to diagnose yourself as depressed is being spearheaded by a doctor who makes a lot of money selling antidepressants.
