It used to be a hellava lot messsier but I got around to cleaning the clutter out and shoving them into the misc folders which I essentially use as my file buffer. Put them there, use them, move them, or not. Dependent on how proactive I feel.
Is my current background, I used another one of Yukaman's art as my background for one. Eating Disorder [http://www.manglo.org/eating-disorder/2] That picture is safe, though be wary and warned that not all of her art is safe for work, or tasteful to some people. It's pretty heavy on the gore, and minor on the nudity, but still, offensive to some people.

My wallpaper is currently a couple of Bill Watterson watercolours on a 30 min rotation. The t-rex in an F14 and a Spaceman Spiff spacescape.

You will all note that my desktop is very sparse. I reserve it as a workspace rather than a launcher. A much more logical use of the space in my opinion. All the items currently located on my desktop are things I am either reading, using or are folders that contain projects and resources related to uni.

Conversely my Start screen is well structured in a personalised way for easy access to all the applications, directories and tools I might care to use or open while making use of the larger yet more efficient space provided. You know, the way it was intended. Everything is better for it.

EDIT: Links for the wallpapers if anyone wants them

Now you're putting me to shame!

But... if not on the desktop, where do you put all of the things?

Ok, so for the hell of it, I updated mine with a rotation. Might as well do what my past self asked and post them.

Stolen from Halfdead255, sorry :p

I have one more. This last one is the first time my wallpaper has ever been 'risky'. As in, if anyone I know ever sees this, I'll never hear the end of it, for one reason. Well, two reasons at chest height. Literally.

Also counts as a mini "fuck you" to the UK's new porn block. Even though this clearly isn't, it'd be considered so under the "Daily Heil"....I mean the "Daily Mail".
Makes you wonder who thought a slab of metal would make for good protection.

My wallpaper changes about once a month depending on what I'm into. I like doublewide when I can get it. I like to make/modify my own wallpapers from screenshots or posters, for example I made both of these. I don't use shufflers.

I try to keep a sparse desktop, I dislike clutter. The icons gradually increase; once there are maybe twenty, I clean off all but two or three.

Haha, I'm sorry - it really is my wallpaper though D:
How does it not freak you out?
When I clicked that, I thought "Let's see what this guy has. I bet it's a game or a piece of famous artwork or-FUCK!"

She's got such a cute expression, even if it is pretty manic.

I changed my wallpaper yesterday, and a few times I've forgotten I've changed it, so then I'm like "O_O" when I minimize windows or whatever.

Hmm photobucket doesn't seem to support 3840*1020 (dual screen) but it only cut off the bar but you get the picture.

See, when you say desktop, I'm suddenly
of
three
minds
about what to post... I'm sure one of those is what you were asking for. Probably the one in 2560x1024.

Or I could get all crazy meta and give you my laptop's desktop:

Or reboot into one of my other OSes...
nah, that's crazy talk.
