Killing Floor has awesome guns and actual combat, but I like how L4D has an actual purpose and goal that you work towards.. not just kill all creatures.

Agreed but i rather kill waves of rather hard to kill undead then follow a linear path for the 100th time.
I like them both equally and you're right. But maybe when we kill waves for the 100th time it'll get old.

Killing Floor is a fun little time-waster, but feels far more unpolished than L4D. Joining in later in a game/respawning is a headache inducing nightmare as you scramble to come up with the cash to buy decent weapons and armor. Other players help, but this can be a serious problem when you're facing 400+ creatures armed with a 9mm.

KF does have much better zombie slaughtering music, while L4D has much better atmospheric tunes. Mowing down waves of grunt zombies is personally more pleasurable with hard rock; creepy chorus music and unseen crying make me start jumping at shadows.

KF feels like a mod of Counterstrike; L4D is, in many ways, a mod of HL2. I liked HL2 better, but that's personal opinion- CS was a great game anyway.

Overall, I like L4D because the game seems to have much more depth and variety than Killing Floor. Still, they're both fun games that I'm glad I own.

All around, I prefer Left 4 Dead. Though its a close contest, largely because of Versus Mode... I just love playing as infected. Killing Floor beats survival mode in L4D hands down, any day of the week.

KF actually released with the SDK, unlike L4D... which(/who?) waited until what, last week?
... for the -beta- SDK?

Maybe this way we'll see custom maps and whatnot before KF starts to get stale.

That said, KF is also in dire need of some bug and 'sploit fixes. I've seen places that players can reach that not even The Patriarch can get to... you can just pistol him until he runs out of health and healing. I've also seen him get telefragged... by a door...
