I dunno, they can still get away with some stuff adultier stuff.

It is so subtle... that I don't get it :(
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=turn%20your%20head%20and%20cough

There ya go.

Turn Your Head and Cough
When a total stranger (a.k.a. certified doctor) grabs a pair of blue colorful gloves, or sometimes white if he's in a good mood. Asks you to drop your pants and underwear, studies your chode for a moment, thinks a sick joke about your size, politely asks you to "turn your head and cough." Reaches down, grabs your family jewels and "studies" them, while your thinking "is this guy really a doctor..."
It's not as bad, but still.

Ooooooooooooooooooohhhhhh... I get it... that doctor thingy I mean.

Then you've got King Julien referring to his rear as his "maker of money" multiple times. "I will now be shaking my maker of money to appease my peoples"
While trying to find a clip of the above I found...

It may not be to the extent of older cartoons (I was just watching some Johnny Bravo and it's kind of surprising what they got in it), but they still seem to add a lot of references/jokes for adults in cartoons.

I suggest you space out your paragraphs and watch your punctuation to make it easier to read.

It's really hard to pick a best Animaniac moment (particularly the "Adult" ones) so I'll just post this.
<bliptv=gbk7zehcAg>
I've seen this... but the one with the Squirrel and the Bird was FAR naughtier!
"No it's easy! I'll conjugate with you!"
"goodnight, everybody!"

hahah oh that's classic in the vein of the Marx Bros
The episode "King Yakko" was a specific parody of Marx Brothers' "Duck Soup" :)

Oh, ok, now i get what you mean by "balance", and i think you are right, but ultimately i also think that todays shows give no proper understanding of how real life works, its a show for kids, but there are too many "everything is OK" moments in todays shows that make me think they dropped altogether the "brain teasers" that made previous shows more popular

so i would say its not more "balanced" it just tipped to the other side of the scale, making it too simple without contributing anything of value...
Come to think about... that could be one of the more subtle reasons why shows like "Spongebob" are appealing to the adults. They don't pretend to teach you anything.
Then again, the subtle layer that intertwins "Educational" and "Obnoxiuosly Pretentious" is something that's not always quite easy to define...
I enjoy "Spongebob" a lot, by the way: Classic situations, dumb characters that serve mainly some sort of social anachronysm and a total lack of consideration for the Laws of Physics... it's old "cartoon" fun, the kind of show that didn't really teach you anything aside from "That's NOT real, it's a cartoon!"
I would assume that the show already knows that and don't treat you like an idiot... only the characters are idiot!

As a kid, I tended to prefer the "kids" cartoons that had "adult" humor thrown in. Even though I didn't get the jokes as a kid, I still enjoyed them because they hinted at the mysterious ways of "grown-up" life. I knew on an almost instinctual level that their mysteries would be revealed with time, much like deciphering an ancient language from a lost civilization. Now when I watch these shows again as an adult I feel vindicated about my initial assumptions.

To be honest though, I'm astounded at how much they were able to sneak past the censors sometimes. To illustrate my point, here's a few clips from one of my favorite nostalgic cartoons, Rocko's Modern Life:
To be fair, some of these scenes were pulled later due to complaints. Every one of them aired at least once, though.

yes but children are blank books that keep imprinted everything they see and hear, what kind of message are we sending to our kids (personally, as a parent) if in TV it says "everything is going to be all right! OH LOOK!! SHINNY THINGS!!" i particularly remember the "magic conch" where bad things happen to "Squidraw" just for the sake of bad things happening to him, while to the oblivious sponge bob and Patrick everything turns alright by acting as a bunch of fanatic morons (in my opinion), were in other cartoons they actually solve the problems by working on them directly

or perhaps its just me, but thats what i see in this shows, whenever i have watched an episode of sponge bob yes its entertaining, yes i laugh, yes i think its funny, but also yes, its completely pointless, while in shows like "animaniacs" its all of the above, but it showed different interactions

Oh so you're a parent... then this discussion can't possibly continue. No one can reason with a worried parent! (Irony)

But we do have different phylosophical views over cartoons... to me a cartoon is a deviant, surreal mirror of our Reality, where everything it reflects gets utterly dephormed and made fun of... it can teach you how NOT to take everything seriously and that most of the things that are generally considered important end up being too bloated for their own good. Ex. Spongebob and Patrick are a couple of idiots... and therefore, they do extremely stupid things, and everyone will notice they're doing stupid things except them... because they never notice how stupid they are... that's what makes them funny, in a "do not imitate" kind of way.
Seriously though, Spongebob is one of the best cartoons out there, I'm sure there are plenty more programs to worry about than that!
Besides, you can always TRY to persuade your kid to watch your old toons... chances are he/she won't like them (same old story).

hehe, OK, now i do get your point, and i would like to add that ultimately, a child can look whatever he wants to and nothing will matter if the parent teaches him "criteria" (or however you spell that), the final word is always with the parent and if the shows aren't what i wanted to teach my kid, i´ll just have to teach him my self ;)

i kind of went in a tangent with the "parent" comment, but i didn't meant that as a "I´M SO WORRIED!!" i meant it as my personal point of view and how i see those shows, sorry if it came out as an "YOU CANT TELL ME HOW TO RAISE MY KID!!!" because i didn't meant it that way.

....and funnily enough they are discussing about sponge bob in TV hahaha

i think your looking to much into that clip you linked. didnt seem that rude too me.
You should probably watch it again... and pay more attention at the punch line. I never said it was rude, it was just a delightful innuendo of butt-sex, is all.
