My father ducked out of his parental responsibilities the honorable way; he dropped stone dead.

My mom and stepfather have been together 20 years now, living happily ever after.

parents are divorced... I'm happy that they did. It would have made disowning my father a much trickier affair.

There is no way my parents would divorce, they have lasted 21 years, still clearly care for each other, and can't.
If my parents were to split though I would have a hard time with it. My house is very stable, and I'm sure not having warring parents is a major factor.

My parents are divorced. I'm not even sure if they were ever married to begin with. Also, I've been engaged before, but never married. So I don't know if mine counts as a divorce (probably not).

Anyway, I was too young to have to deal with my parents. I just thought that's how it was for everyone for a while. And even after, I didn't care at all. I've just never been close with any of my family though.

Divorced Parents User Group, coming up!

I kid, I kid. But yeah, mine broke up when I was like, 12 or so. I didn't really seem to care. I just stayed with my mom, and my dad still visited all the time, he just slept somewhere else.

I also had no brothers or sisters, so I figured me being cool with it would make it easier for them. I could tell they were good friends, but just couldn't be together anymore.

Yes, I once had empathy and compassion. Don't worry though; it's mostly gone now, replaced with seething, incoherent rage and Dr. Pepper.

My parents aren't divorced, but I get the feeling they're just "staying together for the kids." I've been 17 for eleven minutes, and by the time I'm 18 they're probably gonna split up.
Ah! Happy Birthday! ^_^

Mine aren't divorced, but they might as well be: they've been legally separated since 1998. I think it was harder on my older brother when his dad and our mom divorced.

I am divorced, and am still working through a lot of the anger and resentment I hold toward my ex, and the heartache. I'm only 24... I was married for just under 3 years.

They divorced back when I around seven or ten, right now it doesn't bother me at all, I live with my mom and occasionally talk to my dad.

thinking back on it, that was the one time my sister was ever nice..

I love your avatar.

OT: My parents aren't divorced, but my mom passed away this June so they are separated in a way.

A poll would have been interesting. My parents divorced when I was about 15, it sucked but ultimately was the best thing that could happen. They weren't really happy and living with their arguments was in the long run worse. My father has since remarried and my mother lives with her boyfriend, all parties seem happy. My parents still live in the same town (actually less than 6km from each other) and I go back and forth between their houses on holidays.

My parents got divorced when I was 2 years old because my father couldn't keep his dick in his pants. For as long as I could remember lived with my mother, and visited my father and stepmother every other weekend. Only recently my stepmother revealed to me that she first met me when I was 1 year old, so something I didn't realise until this year was that she was the woman who broke up my parents marriage.

I don't blame her though, if it wasn't her it would've been someone else.

My patents were got divorced some time after my mother had a mental breakdown (he stayed legally married to her for a while so she had insurance) I was around 12-15 when she was going in and out of mental hospitals in a cycle of attempted suicides...

My mom lives in Florida now and I live with my dad in Colorado...

My parents aren't divorced. They really only stay together so I wouldn't have to live with my dad. He is a shitty father and him having visitation rights or custody would be much worse than their daily arguments.

Yeah, but I still see both of them. They just fell out of love, I guess. The worst part was the fighting before the divorce. They were trying to stay together but they're yelling made everyone, myself included, miserable.

Note: If they are still in the process of getting divorced, and you get to choose who you live with, or if it's joint custody, they both will try to win you over. With presents. It might be the best/saddest part of the divorce. Of course it probably doesn't happen in every divorce, but if it does... Take advantage if you want to.

For me, I've known for years that my parents don't get along anymore, and it's probably a good thing that they're getting divorced. Their constant arguing was much more hard on my siblings and I than a divorce ever would be. Still, it's not really an ideal thing.

-sigh- Why can't families be all lovey-dovey like in the movies? [small]I feel cheated![/small]
There's worse, I believe. My best friends parents are like yours, except much much worse, and not getting a divorce. Her experience with them has made her unhappy, unstable, insecure and very, very needy. I'm not saying you should be grateful or something stupid like that. Divorce is bad, but the things that cause them are worse. A marriage that continues living when it shouldn't is a painful and horrifying thing to witness.

My parents divorced when I was either eleven or twelve, and I can't say I coped well at all - involved a short stint in one of those happy homes for children who are at-risk for suicide, and I'll leave it at that.
I've rather obviously made a full recovery, and I rather dislike both my parents for different reasons.
That sounds a bit mild. I actually dislike them quite a whole lot, and if I didn't see them except for once or twice a year, I wouldn't really mind.

They've also recently been quite friendly and lip-touchy with one another, and there's been talk of remarriage.
Of course, neither of them have changed a bit, so it's going to end in another divorce and probably hurt my siblings even more than it did the first time around. (They're fifteen and eleven, respectively.)
With all due respect, fuck my parents.
