Unfortunate. I give it a year before Team Fortress 2 updates start costing you 15 dollars.

How is that the downfall of VaLVE? Maybe they just want to open their horizons to a new console, and more customers.Nothing wrong with that,It's just how capitalism works.

Can you tell me why Valve allowing more audiences (specifically PS3 audiences) to play their game means their downfall? Do you really hate the PS3 that much?

I do find it a but hypocritical for them to completely change their attitude like that, but how exactly is it the downfall of Valve?

By the sounds of things Sony plans on using Steam and turning it into thier subscription thing. Sorry but any developer that plays favorites like that (oh we are announcing that this game will be better on this console months before release) is not a company I will support with my money. If you are pissed with MS that's fine. Don't punish thier and your customers because of it by releasing an inferior version (one that you admitted months before release). Just don't release it on that platform. This whole well we fucked up the PS3 version last time so we better fuck up the MS version this time is pants on your head retarded.

It's not hypocritical. They had a policy based on how Sony's third party support did not fit in with their strategy. The fact that Valve appeared at Sony's press conference obviously means that something has changed.

Well not that hypocrisy doesn't make me chuckle, this is hardly the downfall for Valve, if anything I just think this means they're reaching a new market

By setting fire to the old one. Good thinking.

"We shipped Team Fortress 2 on PC and the Xbox. We shipped over 120 updates on the PC and we've shipped less than five on the Xbox. That's something that we feel like we've done a pretty poor job on and we don't know how to fix it.
Why can't they just say what they mean?

"We want it to be free, Microsoft wants the cheddar from their customers, and we think that's total bullshit. Sony doesn't want to dick us around like that, so now we're going with them, and we'll say PS3 version of Portal 2 is the best because PC gamers don't care about consoles anyway"

At least, that's the lines I'm reading between.

Quoted for truth. This is basically the reasoning behind it.

OT: How is this the downfall of valve?

I'll illustrate this in a very complex analogy.

360 Team Fortress 2:pC Team Fortress 2 as PS3 Portal 2: PC Portal 2

There will be no setting fire, the PC audience is the real money for Valve, and they won't risk alienating them to appease the console crowd.

Because........erm..... he hates then, I guess? And he thinks wishful thinking will transform reality around his thoughts...? That or he's just a whiny trollish person.
