Downfall? How can one fall when one has always been down? Tim Buckley has always sucked. I have never once laughed at his comic, ever. That is sad.

Downfall? Because it did a relationship storyline? This would mean that almost every webcomic has "fallen"...

I guess you could say that's the downfall, but I'd say that the downfall is more the fact that it's an all-around terrible comic. Seriously, other than the fact that it combines swearing and video games and therefore is able to make 12-year-olds feel mature, what is its appeal? I don't understand why anyone over the age of 15 reads this.

Well...while Penny Arcade had stuff about relationships, it was never even slightly as drawn out and boring as CTRL+ALT+DEL was.

Also, if i can remember correctly there was an awesome storyline with Tycho accidentially killing his girlfriend and blaming videogames on it...

Penny Arcade and CTRL+ALT+DEL are not even in the same class. Penny Arcade >>>>> CTRL+ALT+DEL. Really now, who has a convention for games named after them? You know I am right. But I think you most likely agree. CTRL+ALT+DEL sucks monkey choad. His art even sucks balls.

I can't see the actually comic because the speech bubbles take up the majority of the panel.

PS: In order for Ctrl+Alt+Del to have a downfall it would first require it to be good and the writer sticking to 1 genre. Also every single person in this comic has the SAME stare.

There's a well-stocked Mills and Boon section of every library, second-hand bookstore or charity shop I've ever been in.

In the ones I frequent most often, I've noticed that several of the Mills and Boon sections haven't changed in years - the ones I recall being on the top of the stack are always there next time I go.

It's because few people these days appreciate a purely romantic story. Unfortunately we can't escape the irritating romantic subplots in movies, games and books but a book, movie or game purely devoted to romance is doomed to failure - unless you can make the local old-age pensioners aware of its existence. Or unless the game is an eroge.

I kind of liked a lot of the comics in book 2-3, (yeah I bought them! cad was my guilty pleasure a year ago) and I think Tim Buckley did pretty ok at that time. I liked how Ethan was completely disconnected from reality, and it made for some pretty ok gags. I think it's gotten a lot worse over the past year. I've stopped reading them some time ago. Too much dialouge, the tonal shift of the comic (while it's a noble endevour to try and do some serious stuff as opposed to the constant gags, Buckle just couldn't pull of the writing).

Its more than a shitty comic, its rather poorly cloaked and pathetic author projection.

This is worse than Harry Potter fanfiction with a new character oddly named the same as the author. Does he honestly expect anyone to enjoy this? Relationship storylines are sometimes great, adding maturity and depth to a comic or universe, but this is most certainly not one of them.

The comic is bad, the creator is an asshole. There is no downfall when your head was already pressed into the latrine.

What
The
Fuck?

Wasn't Ctrl+Alt+Del about games at one point?

Quite frankly I nearly vomited.

Did anyone else read it in their head overdubbed in spanish like a Telanovela?
It just made more sense to me that way (despite the fact that I don't have the slightest clue about what the spanish language sounds like outside of the word "Si")

But yeah, Ctrl+Alt+Del has always been very low down on the Webcomic ladder.
You can't improve on perfection, and in the same light you can't make Ctrl+Alt+Del worse.

No, no no no! I disagree!

Tim Buckley is a genius. A modern day bona fide genius, a certified and soon to be acknowledged supremo, a Grand-High Poobah in waiting. Hell I wouldn't be surprised if he even got a planet named after him for this.

You see, Buckley has a webcomic about videogames. In a webcomic about videogames, you will have to talk about videogames. Its a fact. You will also have to attempt humor, and its best if you occasionally succeed.

As someone pointed out, Penny Arcade managed to deviate away from videogames occasionally, but they always had to come back to them. That is why Penny Arcade does not deserve the accolades that will no doubt soon be given to Ctrl+Alt+Delete.

What really cements Buckleys genius is the situation he has put himself in. His main character is an avid videogamer, he lives with his best friend who is also an avid videogamer, he lives with his fiancee who is a professional videogamer, and he works in a videogame store.

With all these obstacles in his path, Buckley has managed, in the last month or so, including a story arc that involves the sale of his main characters videogame store, to remove almost all references to videogames, and definitely all humor from his comic.

I've seen one videogame reference since reading the recent arc. CAD leaves Penny Arcade for dead in this department.
One reference, in a gaming webcomic. That must merit some kind of award.

So raise your glasses in salute of Sir Buckley (MD, Prof.)!

It can't have a downfall. That's like multiplying zero by more zero. I've never once laughed at the strip. After hearing about CAD, I went to check it out, and found it instantly unlikeable and completely dull.

By the way, I feel the same way (to a lesser degree) about Penny Arcade. Sorry, folks, I never "got" what made that strip any good.

Cyanide and Happiness, on the other hand, is brilliant.
