Hey hopefully (though I doubt it) this will be enough bullshit for the creator to think hes proven his point that he can do other stuff then gaming jokes and thus he will ditch all this wordy crap and get back to what hes good at.

Well, looks like I'm not in a minority then. I had thought that most people who disliked the comic itself would dislike the sillies, but I am glad to be proven wrong.

All in favour of making the sillies the main comic?

Show your support by cutting off the plastic rings on milk bottles so that they don't get stuck in platypus bills.

Oh now don't get me wrong. My hate is directed only towards CAD itself, The sillies are refreshingly light.

Although, watching them slowly descend into more and more wordiness is a little ominous.

CAD is, and always has been, the Celery of the Internet. Not so much bad as it is dreadfully uninteresting. I can't really criticise it, it's not really interesting enough to warrant criticism.

sure, Buckley's a jerk, but you know what, so's Alan Moore
sure, his writing isn't that clever or well crafted, but then again neither is Jeph Jaques
sure, his art lacks any real evidence of being able to draw, but look at cyanide and happyness

it's by no means the worst, it's just background noise. Suddenly he broaches a controversial topic, which i applaude, then wastes it, not allowing either of his characters to develop, it was a snap motion that suddenly ethan was superboyfriend and saved the day. there was no idication that cAD was going to be going down this road forever (which it should do, in order to keep the characters believable and human, which is what I thought he was going to do).

for me it's always been a case of everybody cares too much about what ethan does, and how he does it, and never punish him for his stupidity. I honestly thought Buckley got this with the miscarriage story, but evidentally he hasn't and is just tacking on a story for the sake of having it. He needs to make some decisions about what he wants his comic to be.

On a side note, either use The Man And His Penguin more, or dump them. they showed up for the first time in a year about a month ago. everyone probably forgot they existed

Ctrl + Alt + Del is obviously poor but why is everyone in love with penny arcade like it is any better? Every Penny Arcade Comic isn't remotely funny until you plough through a needlessly long monologue featuring a backstory to explain the joke, a few gems of information on gaming news and three quarters of a page of dramatic language. Only after reading through the backstory you can click his link back to the comic to give an "Oh I get it now" and close the webpage.

The reality is that Tycho can just type three to five points of news followed by a blurb on the comic and end it there. You as the reader can just avoid the website and look up the latest news yourself which will be far more in depth and won't be siphoned through his opinion.
1. You don't need to read the news blogs to understand the comics in PA.
2. Many people enjoy the well-written editorials that often speak about how many gamers honestly feel about the industry.
3. The jokes are often much more clever than any other webcomic, especially in gaming.
1. Try reading the latest comic strip without reading the blog and tell me what Tycho meant.
2. Consider me as a member of the many people that doesn't enjoy the editorials, though I admit that I can't fault you on personal preference.
3. The jokes are clever however I don't find them humorous.
Since any further argument will be based on individual tastes I propose that we agree to disagree...
You know what I just realised Ctrl+Alt+Del is offering a free source of entertainment for those that enjoy it; rather than calling it a downfall the best bet of everyone here is to forget the comic until you do find it enjoyable and leave it to those who enjoy it.

You mean Scott and Ted??
I do enjoy the stories. things can be entertaining without comedy. not every webcomic has to be serious all the time. plus the drawing style is decent. not perfect but decent. but i suppose the haters will just flame me down.

I didn't think so. Admittedly you'd probably have had to have played Mirror's Edge demo to get it but still...it's a comic about Mirror's Edge, you know? It's referential humour(like pretty much all gaming humour ever). You have to know the reference to get it. Heck, all you needed to know was that Mirror's Edge is a first-person free running game. You didn't even need the demo at a stretch.

That said, never been a fan of vomit or vomit jokes. Just rubs the wrong way with me I think.

I.....don't.....understand.

Am I supposed to be drawn into this? excited? interested?

Not to be a negative Nancy but I haven't read this "comic" before and I don't think I will be doing. I'm assuming people will be upset because of the relationship matters within, it's pretty lame (imo). Nothing that couldn't be found on some Disney relationship building dialogue.

You would have had to play the demo AND get motion sickness I did not so the joke is lost on me.

Yeah, no problem if you don't like PA's style of humor or editorial. On that note, I've yet to find anyone who likes CAD over PA.

I haven't gotten either of those things and I still understood the joke. It's implied with a gaming comic that produces three strips a week that they'll be covering a lot of ground in the industry. If you haven't been following Mirror's Edge at all, even without having to have seen footage, then you wouldn't get the joke. Penny Arcade assumes its readers are following major stories and releases.

I played the demo, I did not get motion sickness. I got the joke and while I'm not fond of vomit humour, I understood it and gave a little smirk at the concept. Wasn't rolling on the floor side-splitting humour, but it's not nearly as complex as it's being made out to be.

Well, I've been reading CAD for a bit now, and admire the fact that Tim is trying something a bit different. I'll admit I'm not sure where he's going with the current story arcs, but I'm not going top start yelling how much it sucks or whatever. After all, it's just a webcomic. Which reminds me, I should get back to actually doing something about my own overly-wordy comic, haven't updated that thing in ages.

CAD is actually one of a load of webcomics that form my routine, like xkcd, Slackerz, plus a selected few others.
