Right to try and break up the 360vs PS3 fan boy rage, I personally have had the RROD 5 times. That's right five fucking times, and almost every time a cool game was coming out. First was dead rising, second was halo 3( thought it would be cool) third was cod 4, fourth was nothing, and fifth was recently gears of war 2 ( hooray for senseless violence and horrible acting). Oh and I've also had 2 ps3s. The first one stopped reading discs, so not only the 360 has hardware issues. eat that for breakfast MR Reg5879. That's 5 to....2...meh whatever.

Five times? Mine just died for the first time last week (I've already sent it out and expect
it back soon) but I thought that after they fix it, it won't have that problem again.

Well sometimes they just fix your xbox, but its not always assured it won't red ring again. Then they might send you a new one, and in my case, that one red ringed as well. Fear me for I am the master of bad luck.

Oh my, I had no clue, I thought when they fixed it, it stayed well you know fixed. Thanks for informing me and I hope you have better luck in the future.

Yes I had that happen after two weeks of ownership of a 360. This pissed me off as it is unacceptable for anyone to sell such a shoddy product.
If you bought a brand new car and two weeks later the starter went out, would you say "Yes I'll take another one of those?" Fuck no. No exclusive is worth that bullshit.
I got my money back (and it wasn't easy) sold the controls and 2 games I had. With that money I bought a PS3.

And I lived happily ever after.

I have had the ring of death, and I sent it off to microsoft for repair under the warranty, it was great, it was picked up within a day or two, and I got it back within 2 weeks, this happened in 2007 (I think!) so if you still have your warranty, then send it off for repair. (unfortunately last weekend the rear fan died, (my fault, it was in an incredibly dusty room) so I got a new console for £70, with a free controller! A good backup plan for you.)

My 360 bit the dust last week while I was playing Fable 2. It was just a few days before I had to go back to college, and I don't bring any of my consoles to my dorm, so it's not like I'm missing out on much. If all goes well, it'll be right there waiting for me when I go home for Spring Break.

That is why I own a PS3, so I dont have to worry about the Red Ring Of Death and that PS3 is better than Xbox 360 anyway.

Xbox 360 got a headstart on PS3, so Xbox 360 would have more exclusives, but the only one that I would say that looks good is Dead Rising and maybe Gears Of War, Halo is just overrated. Also, PS3 has sold more consoles than Xbox 360 in Europe and Japan.

Wow why doesn't that surprise me. Sony kept fucking around with the magic super awesomely awesome blue ray drive. So its their own fault that the PS3 took so dam long to launch.

Well, Sony wanted to make sure the PS3 wouldn't have problems, so they took their time, but Microsoft rushed the Xbox 360 and that is why u get the RROD and I get a reliable system. (Halo is overrated)

Fair enuff saying that Sony wanted to take their time building an fairly alright console(I'll be buying one once the true GT5 shows its face and crushes Forza 3.) But I don't see how you can draw Halo into this. Ill assume your one of the many many bandwagoners that just hate it coz its the "in" thing. Then again you defending the PS3 like its your kid.

Back on topic. I asked a few of my friends whom have old Pro systems like launch Pro, 20GB HDD Pros lol xD they've all had atleast 1 RROD. Within a week of it happening and sending it away they got their 360s back and they're fine now.

I brought Halo into this coz nearly every Xbox fan says its the best, but it's just like any other FPS, nothing special, Gears Of War and Dead Rising look enjoyable, but Halo is loved more than them, but Halo (I played the first one), is just like any other FPS, apart from Fallout 3, that kicked ass.

I love my xbox, and hate halo. *Gasp* What?? I hate halo, and I consider gears to be fun, but an overall mediocre game. I got the 360 because it has more shooters than the PS3, which I happened to like, and I loved my original xbox, now will you kindly get the hell out of my thread? All other PS3 owners have stayed out of the thread because they aren't fanboys like you.

I got the Rrod today, and yesterday. After I got it yesterday, it worked fine after I left it for ten minutes. Today, though, it was freezing repeatedly(about five minutes into playing fallout 3 each time) until it just started freezing on start up. I left it until about 20 minutes ago, and I got the Rrod again. I'm going to send it off soon, and I hope they fix it quickly.

This has been a PSA by white_salad. Remember, only you can inform others on the dangers of the RROD. The worst part is, they didn't fix mine one time. They sent it back and as soon as I turned it on it red-ringed. Lets just say there was most unhappy salad after that altercation.

I'm afraid once they get a hold of something they don't often let go. They're like snapping turtles.
I never got a RRoD, but I did get a E74 error, so the GPU croaked in my poor, faithful, 2 year old 360. It's being repaired now and I get to reacquaint myself with Metroid Prime while I wait.
