Yeah, it is worth it. I still have mine but I haven't played in a long ass time. I just had to say Dynamite Cops is amazingly addicting and fun, dunno if anyone played it but it is awesome.

Well worth having one.
Some classic games in it's catalogue...
Powerstone 1+2
Shenmue 1&2 (when are they ever going to finsih that series?!
Crazy taxi (better that the PS2 version IMO)
Soul Calibur
Jet Set Radio
Ecco the Dolphin: Defender of the Future
Omikron: The Nomad Soul
Sega Bass Fishing (get a copy with the rod)
Toy Commander
Wetrix

That should keep you busy...

I would add to the overwhelmingly positive response with a resounding YES!

People have been throwing game after awesome game at you. I recommend Sonic Adventure, Ecco the Dolphin, NFL 2K (but maybe that's just me for nostalgia), and Powerstone. I've never played Shenmue but people say it's so good it's worth looking into. Oh, and Marvel vs Capcom 2 is a must!

Definitely one of my favorite systems. I remember 9/9/99 and getting the dreamcast that christmas may have been the best gift/surprise ever. Definitely worth it.

:( I wish you would have been a commercial success, Sega!

The Dreamcast, I always have wanted one but it so hard to find. Is it really even worth it?

This was the first console I ever had, so it has a special place resevered in my heart. Aside from that though, I really enjoyed mine, Sonic Adventure was really good, beat it 4 times.

POWERSTONE 2
that game is fucking awesome, its odd that the game lets the button mashers win spectacularly but I never felt cheated or annoyed at the game for it, its just too much fun.

I suppose I'll add my 2 cents to this already jam-packed list.

YES, you should buy a Dreamcast. And I should say right now that Crazy Taxi with a Dreamcast controller is far better than on PS2. Plus its the original console version.

Also want to say that, in my opinion, the Dreamcast D-pad is better suited for the 2-D fighting games such has Marvel Vs. Capcom, than the PS2 push-sensitive D-pad. It just seems more precise, but it's probably just me...

Heres a quick list with a bunch that everyone missed added in:

Sonic Adventure 1 & 2

Sonic Shuffle (Exclusive. Mario Party clone)

Phantasy Star Online Ver.2 (Free Online play set up at www.schtserv.com)

Shenmue (Exclusive)

Shenmue II (European Import. Worth it.)

Soul Calibur (Exclusive)

Power Stone 1 & 2 (Exclusive)

Dynamite Cop (Exclusive)

Ecco the Dolphin (Exclusive)

Seaman (Exclusive)

Space Channel 5 (screw the PS2 port)

Chu Chu Rocket (It's on GBA too but who cares...)

Sega Smash Pack (Collection of Genesis/Saturn/PC games)

Sword of Berserk (Exclusive)

Draconus: Cult of the Wyrm (Exclusive)

Zombie's Revenge (Exclusive)

Record of Lodoss War (Exclusive)

Fatal Fury: Mark of the Wolves (Exclusive)

Project Justice (Exclusive, a.k.a. Rival Schools 2)

Cannon Spike (Exclusive)

Bangai-O (Exclusive)

Skies of Arcadia (Also on Gamecube, but come on, you want authenticity :D)

Marvel Vs. Capcom 1 & 2 (Arcade PERFECT ports)

Street Fighter III: Third Strike

Capcom Vs. SNK (Arcade Perfect)

King of Fighters '99 (Arcade Perfect)

Last Blade 1 & 2 (Exclusive)

Jet Grind Radio (Superior to the Xbox remake)

EGG: Elemental Gimmick Gear (Exclusive)

Expendable (Exclusive, Contra/Smash TV style)

Time Stalkers (Exclusive)

Maken X (Exclusive)

Armada (Exclusive. Asteroids/Sinistar gameplay style.)

Bleem!: Metal Gear Solid (Requires MGS PS1 discs. Not as good a method as the PS2's updated PS1 functions, but definitely noteworthy for the Dreamcast.)

That's all the comes to mind and its probably the vast majority of the exclusive titles. Hope this helps.

Didn't see it mentioned but the best dream cast game ever, imo is ReVolt! It's an RC car game where you race, play tag and do other things in real environments like a house, a neighborhood, etc.

Love... that... game...

#1 Gundam Side Story (the only great gundam game ever)

2 Marvel Vs Capcom

3 Rez (and if you like that, cosmic smash)

4 Seaman

5 Jet Grind Radio

6 Skies of Arcadia (if you like RPGs)

7 Typing of the Dead (if you're getting the Keyboard)

8 PSO but I'm sure there's no multiplayer anymore.

Dreamcasting was great.

It's definitely worth it, as long as you don't pay too much. I bought it on release day (9-9-1999), and it's been constantly connected to my TV since then. Recently, I borrowed Sonic Unleashed, because I though maybe, just maybe, if I ignored the night levels, and I ignored the shoehorned story, and maybe if I ignored the new annoying sidekick, the fast levels would be good. Turns out, it just made me want to power on the DC and play SOnic Adventure again. So I did.
